Rudert Contract Services – Owner and Founder. Responsibilities include managing the legal aspect of my Brother in Law’s Orthopaedic practice. Arthur F. Lee, M.D., serves as an expert witness in legal cases that need independent medical examinations, live trial appearances, and deposition testimony. Dr. Lee is a partner of Wellington Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine in Cincinnati, OH.
Basset Hound Town Enterprises, LLC – bassethoundtown.com. Owner and Founder. Formed in 2005, several years after starting the Lily book. BHTE is part of a 5 year accomplished goal that included writing and self publishing the Lily book and setting up a website for showcasing the Lily book. Equally important is the goal to educate others, research the breed and network the rescue of basset hounds.
My website helps basset hounds and the people who love them via networking and fundraising using the internet as my vehicle of choice.
Experience as it relates to my goal of being on the BHCA advisory board:
1.) BHCA member since the early 1990s. My membership lapsed for a few years between then and now. The BHCA publication was very lacking and I did not breed or show so I found the club irrelevant. I decided to re-join shortly there after due to the fact that I wanted to educate myself on the breed and the breeders that were the guardians of the breed.
Fundraisers:
I started fundraising within a week of going live with bassethoundtown.com. This link shows some of the first fundraisers I did:

WELCOME TO OUR FIRSTGIVING FUNDRAISERS
These links are not the total sum of what I have done for basset hound rescue. These are meant to be an example of my work and dedication. For example I have donated approximately 5,000 dollars worth of Lily books to different rescues and unrelated basset hound charities such as hospitals and homeless shelters for women and children.
2.) Self published Children’s book author and designer. My book focuses on a homeless basset hound (my Lily) and serves as a tool to educate and fundraise. Lily, A Basset Hound’s Tail of Love was accepted into the Library of Congress in 2007.
3.) Member, Independent Publishers of America since 2003.
4.) Educate people about the breed via my website and personal experience. I have had basset hounds in my life since 1995.
Educational links on my website – many more to follow.
a.) BLOAT (Gastric Torsion)
b.) Glossary – Ophthalmologic terms
5.) My website links to every basset hound rescue in North America. I might have missed a few recent ones. I am currently working with my webmaster to update Wikipedia with all basset hound rescues.
6.) Organized and helped to raise close to 6,000 dollars for the House of Puddles in 2008 with a goal of 10,000 by June of 2009.
7.) Networking homeless bassets on my website, MySpace, YouTube, and other internet groups. My YouTube videos have been seen by over 150,000 people. My website receives between 500 and 1000 unique visitors per day.
8.) Helped other rescue groups to get set up on YouTube and have made many videos for other basset hound rescues to help showcase their needy hounds.
9.) Worked with national transport groups to get basset hounds to foster homes in other states. This is critical in KY where we have no organized rescue group.
10.) Pull bassets from high kill shelters and form relationships with these shelters and animal control officers in my geographic area to alert me to these hounds.
11.) Work with different basset hound rescues to step up boutiques on my website to sell items. My webmaster has each rescue set up with their paypal account, not mine. I do not see one dime for this service. Currently, I only have a few, but I am working on several more. Here is the link:

These 11 items are some of the ways that I have helped rescues since I went live with my website in 2006. For the 3 years leading up to 2006 I was educating myself and making sure I had the tools in line to participate in my passion. My most important tool is my website which I use primarily for networking.
My book sales have saturated the basset hound market for the most part and my demographic usually does not visit my website. I sell to schools mostly. I also donate 5.00 from the sale of every Lily book to the school that has Chaps and I visit. Here is my school page, if you are interested.

Larry, I hope you find me qualified to be on the advisory board for the BHCA rescue committee. I want to send my resume to you prior to our telephone call so you get a better idea of who I am. I know I would be an asset to the board and I would love to hear about the experiences and qualifications of the other folks you have selected. I may be fairly new to the rescue world but I am willing to work hard for the hounds we love so much.
I have many ideas for the board as well as time and energy.
My goal is to be on the BHCA advisory board for basset hound rescue. I would love to learn from you and be a part of basset hound rescue history.
I look forward to our telephone meeting.
Sincerely, Cat, Chaps and Emma
