Howllo Fellow Hound and knowing this question is going to be one for generations to come. May I give you my answer?
I was with an African American nurse named Mike, my Mom and my Dad who was admitted to the emergency room this morning.
Grandpa was having some stoke like symptoms and my Mom and I drove him to the Emergency room this morning. His nurse, Mike is the best caregiver ever.
Grandpa is spending the night at the hospital so they can monitor his heart. The initial battery of tests came back with good results but tomorrow will be a more detailed process.
I don’t know for sure, but I think Mike wanted to spend the moment with us. He had a lot of other patients, but he picked us to watch the actual moment with.

(President Obama sworn in with Lincoln Bible – The Bible Barack Obama used at today’s swearing-in ceremony carries great historic and social significance. It was used by Abraham Lincoln at his first inauguration in 1861.)
At the end of the swearing in we clapped softly and gave each other hugs. It really was very emotional and a few tears were flowing.
I told Mike I was honored to recall this moment in time forever with such a thoughtful and wonderful caregiver.
This was never where I thought I would be witnessing this event in history. I am just glad that I was there for my Dad and Mom. I am also glad I got to meet Mike.
Mike made Grandpa calm way down and enjoy the moment. He was gauging his cognitive function via the ceremony and that is what made Mike even more touching.
Thank you Mike. I will recall this story forever.
More forever later……..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
