I love all of the stories of bonding hounds. They really brought a smile to my face. You can never have too many smiles! Cat

That is so cute! I have always enjoyed your pictures of Emmers and Chaps butting up together. Our bassets don't bond and I think it is because Brutus didn't know Lulu until after he was blind. Our basset girl and Mutt, Jaws, are Bff's though!

We're thinking about you Emma, lots of drool headed your way!!!

It is just remarkable how dogs that are bonded seem to read each others mind. I've fostered a bonded pair and boy do you know if they are bonded or not. I hate to even bring this up but I sure hope Chaps outlives Emma! That's my fear with Rugs and Jethro. Jethro is bonded with Rugs but Rugs isn't as dependent on Jethro as Jethro is on Rugs. If that makes any sense. So deep down inside I hope Jethro goes first but Rugs is almost 2 years older. Oh well. Jethro will just have to bond with Oz or Harriet. And I know it ain't gonna be Harriet! Chaps and Emma are too precious. You are so lucky to have such a loving pair. Enjoy!

what a precious picture of Chaps and baby Emma! So relieved to hear that Emma had a good night last night. I know you can't wait to see her. We'll be anxiously awaiting updates and photos.

Regarding bonding, we have an interesting pair here. Nell is a Sussex Spaniel we rescued when she was about 8 years old. Several months later we brought Sophie (baby basset hound) home. Nell had been over-bred, so she was use to puppies, but she was old and still recovering from her poor health and mistreatment. Nell stepped right in as "Mama Nell", and though she continues to boss Sophie around, she would protect that basset with her very life. From the time Sophie was just a baby to right now, they are usually piled in the same bed together.

buster is bonded to cooper even tho he acts like he would sometimes kill him...first thing in the morning he runs over to coop and kisses him, tail wagging all over the place. he defers to him at the water bowl and with cookies and stuff too.

they are brothers and will go on adventures at the park together...when coop goes hunting buster goes along although i know he has NO CLUE as to what coop is doing!

coop on the other hand i think likes buster and somewhat enjoys the company but much rather liked miss casey (the chessie who passed) better. she was calmer and didn't annoy him as much.

its funny tho...they both participate in "sophie-tipping" when they play gang up on sophie the huge berner i watch and spin her and tip her over. there is much barking and tail pulling and chasing. its a private game that only a select few are allowed to play. the 3 of them chase away other dogs at the park who try to join in. it looks and sounds terrible..people always ask if they are trying to kill sophie...i have to say no...i mean look...she has a smile on her face and then she gets up and flops on top of them to get them all riled up so they can do it again!

that is an awesome pix of emma and the mayor! i hope your place if full of pix on the walls!!!

Hi Cat.....I remember that picture. Chaps was so big, and Emma so small. How sweet the way they bonded, and who knew then that Emma would need Chaps so much to help her through life's journey. Please take all the love from eveyone to her today. Can't wait to hear how she is? We love Emma so much, please let us know how she is just as soon as you get home. Give Chaps a hug, and remember to take care of YOU too!

Cat,,,love is great....!! Zoey and Phelps are inseparable. They are so cute together, what one doesn't think of to get into trouble the other one will...They are just turning 8 months, the puppy stage goes by so fast!!! So glad to hear Emma surgery was successful and now lots of drool for her recovery. I know Chaps will be waiting on her hand and paw. She deserves to be pamper! Love and Hugs!

Chaps is certainly amazing. Everyone could learn a lot from Chaps and Emma.

I also think our Mayor sets a fine example of what a public servant should be.
