Did cha do any Cyber Monday shopping?

November 30th, 2009 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Cyber Monday shoppers…

Did cha doing any cool shopping today? I was on Lego.com, Apple, Amazon, and a few other places. However, I did my mayja shopping in the House of Puddles boutique, right here in town. I am a firm believer of shopping locally and shop locally I did!

OK, here is the back story…….

Grandma, Grandpa, and I bought my sister Caryn a 14K gold charm bracelet back in 1993 for her birthday with 2 gold charms. One was a locket with the picture of Julian’s sonogram in it. Of course you know how she treasures that charm.

Anyway, every year for her birthday and Christmas we buy her a gold charm. We really try to make it mean something that is touching to her. So, guess what was sitting in front of my face for about a year?

IMG_4337

Yes, I am not lying when I say, right in front of my face.

IMG_4540

If I glance to the left this is what I see. A golden Teddy Bear charm donated by Annika Francis, lover of the HOP.

So, you may ask how is this particular golden Teddy Bear is touching to my sister? The symbolism is tri-fold.

Little gold Teddy honors the beloved first Teddy Bear of Julian. I took this picture on Thanksgiving to frame for his Mom with the charm.

IMG_4588

Next treasure is Mr. Teddy himself, the family’s beloved horse. Teddy is on the left and Ab is on the right.

And our very own Romeo. We all call him our Teddy Bear Cub.

I am so glad that we purchased this item for the charm bracelet. I am so thrilled with it. Annika thank you so much for donating it. I know my sister will cherish it forever. I know howl much it meant to you so I am glad it will stay in the family.

Oh, and one more thing. I think Teddy’s rear is pretty cute! Everyone knows how much I love a good rear end shot!

PLAY IT FORWARD! Pink Gloves Dance to Jay Sean’s Down for Breast Cancer Awareness

November 30th, 2009 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Pink Glove Lovers! Special Thanks goes out to Sandy Gaston for sending me this totally awesome message and YouTube to go along with it.

Sandy was sent the video from Ann Somers who states,

“Our daughter-in-law, Emily (MacInnes) Somers, created, directed and choreographed this in Portland last week for her Medline glove division as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness.

This was all her idea to help promote their new pink gloves. I don’t know how she got so many employees, doctors and patients to participate, but it started to really catch on and they all had a lot of fun doing it.

When the video gets 1 million hits, Medline will be making a huge contribution to the hospital, as well as offering free mammograms for the community. Please check it out.

It’s an easy and great way to donate to a wonderful cause, and who hasn’t been touched by breast cancer?

Ann Somers ”

Yes, Ann, yes indeed!

Ready, set, go! Part 2 of our walk today – Enzo and Romeo!

November 29th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and House Guest Lovers: Today we took part 2 of our walk with Enzo and Romeo. They were such good boys on their walk and they loved every minute of it.

Rest, set, go!

IMG_4713

Romeo is such a puppy and leaped and bounded like a true pup!

Here we are at the bench Grandpa sits on in the Lily book!

IMG_4729

We were resting here after we counted about 30 or so smiles. Then we moved on. I spotted an orange stone wall that I thought would make a pretty back drop for a photo shoot! Romeo has a fair amount of orange in his coat and Enzo had on an orange harness in support of the Bengals. Did they win?

Here is what I proclaimed the “money shot” of the day! Make sure you click on it to see full detail!

IMG_4744

This one comes in a close second…..

IMG_4719

Snort, snort…..

I am please to report that all hounds are snoring away after dinner. I think a glass or more of wine is in order for moi!

More ready, set, go later…..Love, Cat, Chaps, Emma, Enzo and Romeo!

A walk with pure joy!

November 29th, 2009 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and pure joy lovers…..

OMG! We all had a great time on our walks today but the Mayor and Emma had a superior time! It was a great day. Not many folks were out because I think the Bengals were playing so we had the byways to ourselves. We turned down a side street to loop around towards home past the church in the Lily Book. Emma was leading the way of course.

IMG_4693

Chaps and I caught up and we all turned the corner right into a big pile of leaves!

IMG_4700

The Mayor dove right in and his manner became ecstatiic! Just look at him! His eyes were almost rolling!

IMG_4702

Emma became just as crazed and she dove in. Grandma and I let them enjoy themselves as much as we enjoyed watching them enjoy themselves.

I can honestly say we all had pure joy today. What a wonderful gift!

More experiences later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. Stay tuned for part two of our walk with Enzo and Romeo! I got a couple of money shots!

My computer pulled an all nighter!

November 29th, 2009 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and All Nighter Lovers: Since I was having so much trouble logging in to my system I decided to leave the system on all night. It seemed to work. So, I am able to do whatever I want on line. Right now I am getting ready to walk Chaps and Emma. Grandma is coming, of course. We are going to enjoy this brief 55ish weather and stretch some short legs.

Then, when we get back we will stretch some long legs! Well at least Romeos! Enzo is well, Enzo! We cannot get over how pig like he is. He looks just like a piglet. Plus, he snorts like a pig.

Here is a picture of Romeo in the ladies room this morning.

IMG_4634

He is such a good puppy. So far, he is getting an A+. He is a giant sweet heart. It will be fun to walk him today.

Chaps is doing great as well. The first day he was growling at him but now he is just kind of miffed.

More hoping that Gina stays with us through cyber Monday! Love, Cat, Chaps, Emma, Enzo and Romeo…

Going, going, almost gone……

November 28th, 2009 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Hello Fellow Basset Hound and 7 stages of grief knowers: Yes, I was in a bit of shock and denial over my system dying because I could get on after a few attempts, but now dear readers I have passed that level and entered pain and guilt. I bought a system yesterday, painful as it was, (black and blue check book Friday) from the apple store. I just received an e-mail that it has shipped. Wanna see a picture?

product-front-17

You really can’t tell too much but it is a 17” MacBook Pro.

I skipped the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th levels of grief and moved right into acceptance and hope!

So, if you wonder where I am if you don’t hear from me just know I am sitting by the door waiting for the FedX truck.

The last time I logged on Gina let out a scream like a human. It was so weird. Then I got the flashing question mark. That is the kiss of death.

Just a quick update on the house guests, Enzo and Romeo……

Grandma gave them both a massage this morning. It was so cute.

More spa days and new lap tops later….Love, Cat, Chaps, Emma, Enzo and Romeo…

Did you know that BoB the DoG had the same back surgery as Emma?

November 28th, 2009 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and BoBthe DoG lovers: Wow, BoB the DoG is a very famous hound on the internet. He is almost as famous as our Mayor, Chaps and his Mommy probably thinks himz is more famous. LOL!

Well, BoB went down in the back a few weeks ago and I immediately e-mailed his Mommy with information about the surgery. I also directed her to Emm’s sub-blog on the subject because we thought it might help BoB. It is so scary with a hound goes down.

I am thrilled to report that BoB did great and is now home. He is not walking on his own yet, but that will come in time I feel very sure seeing the progress he is making. He started his water therapy yesterday.

IMG_5053

Emma never did the water therapy. She was so quick to get back up that my therapist said she should just start taking walks. But for BoB this is perfect. He is getting the exact benefit he should which is low impact re-training the legs to walk in the back. I am so proud of himz.

IMG_5062

Here you can see the scar, the same exact one Emma had. Wow! Look at himz standing!

Look at me Mommy! I think I can, I think I can!

IMG_5059

BoB’s Mommy states, “Physical therapy went wonderful, the place is top notch and very professional and kind..the first appointment was with a doctor and the PTguy Ken..they didn’t rush us at all and answered all the questions the other place should have..when I mentioned how often Bob was being they jumped right up and did both a urinalysis and a ultrasound of his bladder..to which the doctor announced he had a ranging bladder infection…poor bob but at least now he is on antibiotics for 21 days!!! The they showed us exercises for to do at home, checked his reflexes and then we went to the PT department..and Bob walked in the underwater treadmill..he was such a good boy, they are totally in love with my lovebug already..the PT guy says that Bob will benefit most by the treadmill so he is gonna cut the PT appoints in half (hense half as much money) and we are gonna start with just that…when we got there and they did the physical sttuff when I pressed if they thought Bob would walk they said that things looked good..after Ken saw him in the treadmill he said he was really sure he would since he did so good. Here are some pics of Bob and some short videos”

What do you do with your left over Turkey?

November 27th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Turkey Left Over Lovers…..

Ever heard of a KY Hot Brown? I know, I know, I have blogged about the KY Hot Brown before…..but in my opinion it is the reason to have Thanksgiving! OMG I am so hungry!

Here is a previous blog I did on one of my favorite dishes. It is so good it is criminal. (That is what Grandma always says!)

PREVIOUS BLOG POSTING FROM JAN 2009

Howllo Fellow Hound and favorite dish lovers. OK, maybe I am better than what I give myself credit for, but I have a very small repertoire when it comes to cooking. I had to show you this dish that I rarely make. Grandpa wanted a KY treat after being in the hospital and I gladly obliged.

It is called a Kentucky Hot Brown. It was invented by the chiefs at the world famous Brown Hotel back in 1923. It is a pretty famous dish in these here parts. Bobby Flay even did a Throw Down with the Brown Hotel. Bobby lost! LOL

My version is a bit more substantive. I use English Muffins so the cheese sauce soaks into the nooks and crannies.

If you do not have real turkey you can substitute rotisserie chicken from your grocery store deli. I dice the white meat and sauteed it in butter and red onion.

I add broccoli spears, drained of all water.

I spend the most amount of time on my cheese sauce. It has 7 different cheeses and I could have easily added 3 more. I am a cheese freak.

Add sliced cherry tomatoes to the top and bake at 350 for an hour or until golden brown. You could probably do this in a larger casserole dish for a family. Don’t forget the cookie sheet.

img_9218

Cook bacon to almost crisp and add on top during the last 15 minute of cooking.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh………..Comfort food!

img_9225

Look how cute. These little cast iron skillets come with a handle holder so you can dig right in!

img_9226

What could be better than a KY Hot Brown delivered on a basset hound tray?

I guess if I must be a one trick pony, this is the trick! Slurp!

More tricks later…….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

END OF PREVIOUS BLOG POSTING……

More later….after I go try to do a version of this…..Love, Cat, Chaps, Emma, Enzo and Romeo
