You did get them out of a hell hole. Ronald bought Jethro for me for my birthday in 2001 before we even know about rescues. We got lucky and someone in rescue knew his breeder and said that he's reputable. Of course, I guess it depends on what you call reputable huh? But, we found rescue a few years later when Jethro lost his best friend and adopted Rugs. Then along came Oz and Harriet and I fostered them for a year and nobody wanted them. I got too attached to let go. Unfortunately I'm full and can't foster anymore but we were willing to adopt Oz and Harriet and take care of them for the rest of their lives. It'll be a long while before we can get another hound but I'll probably stick with rescue. You are right Cat. You did get them out of a hell hole. She even had the BHCA and AKC titles. Her husband was the vice president of the club. They were churning out glaucoma and lying about it. She even had the gall to say that her kennel BoBac Bassets only had one to two litters a year. The part she left out was PER DOG (she has about 30 girls). Be very careful even if you think you are going to a reputable breeder. I did all of my home work and still got duped. My greatest reward is getting Chaps and Emma away from that hell hole.
