Join the walkers and their 26 bassets as they roam the hills and dales near Avebury, England.

This was a 5 mile walk at Cherhill, near Avebury, Wilts on 24 Jan 2010. It is just so much fun to watch the Walkers and listen to the commentary!

This video is 10 minutes long so save it for lunch or for happy hour or for both! LOL! Beware, there is a lot of howling and “good throat” from Hamilton! Chaps went a bit nuts!

Ahhhhhhhhh……….

I would love to plan a walk. What a great group of folks!

Do you have a nibbler hound?

February 18th, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and nibbler lovers…

Do you have a hound that nibbles? I mean really nibbles! Chaps loves to nibble. It it almost like he his chattering his front teeth on a toy or…………

my/our pillow! I could never get a picture of this elusive event until now. I was laying down with Chaps and my Mom grabbed the camera. You can see me holding his paw. He gets into an almost trance like state. Nibbling, and nibbling. We call it his NIBBLING NIRVANA.

This is himz looking at Grandma in between nibbles!

IMG_5648

There is one problem with his NIRVANA! He tries to nibble on Emma! I am not kidding. If she lets him do it for more than about 20 seconds the Mayor will start singing like he is in the Opera! I have only heard that about 5 times. As you can imagine, Emma is not a big fan of Opera singing!!!!!

More Nirvana Nibbling Later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

A report from Trooper Foster Mommy…

February 18th, 2010 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Trooper Lovers…

Ann, Trooper’s foster Mommy added this as a comment last night in the most current Trooper posting, but I know some of you do not go back and read all of the comments.

Ann states,

“Trooper had a setback last night – although this had nothing to do with him. He had a cold with a great deal of congestion over the past week – and so after a few days on another antibiotic that did not seem to help him, I took him to see the vet 2 days ago. He was prescribed a new and stronger antibiotic – Zeniquin – and a new pain medication – Tramadol – along with Prednisone (although I did not give it at the higher dose level that was recommended by the vet) . After only a few doses, he vomited quite a bit of blood. At first it was dark brown and looked like coffee grounds – and then it became bright red. We gave him no more of those medications last night or this morning – and it has subsided now. He slept most of the day and didn’t eat until tonight when he finally ate some dinner. Poor baby! I hope that is the end of it – but we will continue to monitor him carefully. He could use a few prayers though. Thank you so much for caring about this very sweet and very deserving little Basset. As badly as he felt, he managed to greet me by raising his head up and trying to look at me through those mange-crusted eyelids while he did his best to give me a tiny thump of a wag on the bed. He is truly a precious little soul!

An update from bassethoundtown resident, Trooper!

February 15th, 2010 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Trooper update lovers……

I know all of us in basset hound town are one of those! YES! Well, last night Trooper’s foster Mommy sent us an update….

“Trooper has not been feeling well for the past 3 days. He has had congestion, drainage, coughing, and a little fever. I called and spoke to the vet and she is having me give him antibiotics, Benadryl, and Prednisone because she does not know if it is his heartworms or a cough that is causing him trouble. He will go to the vet’s office tomorrow for follow-up. He is sleeping quite a bit now – but he got up in order to model his beautiful studded designer collar today. He asked me to tell you that this is his first collar and that it makes him feel good to know that someone cares about him. He said that he will always remember you and your extraordinary kindness to him when he was sick.

A very sweet lady by the name of Maureen sent him some yummy treats – and he enjoyed them so much! What a truly wonderful thing for all of you to do!

A lady on your blog commented on Trooper’s nails. When he came in, his nails were extremely long and the quick had grown out on them to the point that you see. Currently they cannot be trimmed any closer – but sometimes, I will sit down and use my nail file to smooth them so that he won’t hurt himself when he scratches.

I have attached a few pics of our little man.”

End of e-mail and start of pictures.

I just wanted all of my readers to know that I sent Trooper a collar that I had designed and had made years ago from all of us to himz.

boy tag

This is the tag on the collar that Chaps models….

Here is the ad on my website for the collar. I had to show it to you so you can read how cool they are. Unfortunately, they are all gone.

So without further hesitation…..Our Trooper with his new collar on!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and bassets that competed in Westminster Kennel Club hound lovers….

Well, the video is up if you want to watch it!

It totally cracks me up howl hard the handlers try to hold that tail up and then it comes right back down. It makes no sense to me why they do that. It looks funny!

More knowing that Chaps could have won paws down later! Love, Cat, Chaps (with his tail up) and Emma

P.S. He may be a bit grayer, but he is still at his show weight! hehehe

P.P.S. My Mom and I play around and try to make himz stack and he goofs around with us! I will get some pics.

Release the hounds…….

February 15th, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and releasing the hounds first lovers…..

Tonight is the first night of the Westminster Kennel Club dog show. The super bowl and world serious of all shows! hehehehe

It will air live tonight on the USA network at 8:00pm, (I think). Their website is confusing about another channel and time but I think I am right. Check your local listings.

The Bassets showed earlier today and here are the results. This will not spoil anything because of course they do not show the individual breeds. The basset hound winner will go on to participate in the hound group, which by the way will be the first group up tonight! That is great because then I can turn over to figure skating at the Olympics.

OK – the results……

I finally got my snow basset hound!

February 15th, 2010 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hounds made out of snow lovers….I had been trying to convince the little girls next door to do a snow basset hound for days to no avail. It was more fun to make snow Barbie doll forts and throw snow balls. What ev……

So, I was thrilled to run across this in my internet travels…..

These photos are form Dale Hansen (near Dallas Fort Worth) who is a also a Basset Hound lover.

“We built our snowbasset while the snow was still falling….only at 7 1/2 inches when we started but ended up with 12 inches. Couldn’t submit our photo sooner because our power was out and no computer access. We love basset hounds so could not build anything else !!!”

It would be so much cooler to live next door to these people. Just think, this snow basset versus a Barbie Doll fort. Don’t get me wrong. I played with Barbies!

Good job basset lovers!

More wondering if I will ever get a neighbor like this later……Cat, Chaps and Emma
