Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and paying off the Blue Eyed Boys Bills Lovers! I am so excited to report that BJ, Gary, Charlie, Otis, Zoey and Phelps have donated 50 dollars towards the Blue Eyed Boys Bills. Look at this cute card!

Now we have 135.00 dollars towards the 150.00 bill. But get this! I know more doe is coming in. I really think more doe is also coming that we can put towards our next homeless basset hound town resident! I know you all know I will spend it wisely.

Get this…..

Turns out Mikey and Stewie are not food aggressive at all. They were just starving. Their foster family reports that they are eating fine together. They just need to know that food will be coming on a regular basis. That just breaks my heart that these guys were starving. I could tell when Grandma and I fed them. Our eyes were as wide as saucers as they ate. We gave them twice what we feed the kids. I know that is why they slept so good that night in my basement. A cool, quite place on a hot summer night with a full belly. Life was and is good!

I love basset hound rescue. We as humans have those long basset backs!

Thanks BJ and everyone that gave and will! All the rescue cases are different but one thing is the same.

BASSET HOUNDS ARE HUNGRY! LOL!

More reports later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

What is so interesting is that this shelter and many others can do a food aggression test. If that dog fails they can be PTS. Stewie and Mikey were not even placed on Petfinder. If a rescue does not take them then they are PTS. Thank goodness that Stewie and Mikey had an advocate at the shelter and worked her butt off to get them into a rescue. Here name is Heather. I love Heather. After I agreed to pull them, Heather moved them into an area of the shelter that is reserved for rescue pulls. That way they are removed form the general population which might be ill. Most rescues have their hounds vetted and neutered (like I agreed to) which makes them automatically healthier.

    Hollar!

Thanks so much BJ and family! This means we can continue to save bassets in Basset Hound Town. Here in our town, we take care of our own!

Cat, I’m sure that poor Mikey and Stewie didn’t know when their next meal was coming so they had to gobble down what they could get. Ozzie and Harriet were like that for a few weeks too. When I went to get their bowl if there was just one small piece of kibble in there they would growl. Well, now they let me take it away and if I notice a piece of kibble I let them get it out or I hand it to them. They are both totally different dogs than when I got them. And actually, now that I think back, all my fosters did that. I mean, if you were around some strangers that didn’t speak your language and you couldn’t tell them when you were hungry and you didn’t know when your next meal was…how would you act?

I know Cindy – these guys were literally starving to death. I think for the most part shelters need a check list to make their job easier.

If a hound is food aggressive they put it down. There are too many to keep. Thank DOG Heather was their advocate at the pound. Love her!
