Howllo Fellow Basset Hound Town and following yesterday lovers….
After we ran the blue eyed bros to the point of being sleepy we gave them their dinner. They ate like wolves. They were so hungry. Famished! I put the kennels next to each other and each hound entered with a treat and slept for 10 solid hours. My basement is very cool because the AC vents leak. The boys had probably not had a nice cool, silent night of sleep for over a month. I did not hear a peep. I laid down with the kids and tried to grab a few winks as well. 1:00am would be here it before you know it!
As you will see the accommodations were a bit meager in our basement! This is what I saw when I came down at 1:o0am this morning….

I could hear them snoring. They did not even wake up when I was turning on the lights. But wake up they did! As I opened the garage door and their kennel doors they bolted like greyhounds. It was so cute! I wanted them to run, potty and get some water before their long journey! They did all of that.

I don’t feed transport hounds on the morning of travel but I did give them a few treats. I could not get pictures of that but let me set the scene. Instead of basset hounds picture kangaroos! These boys were jumping so high each blue eye was over my head. Ditching my no feed rule, I gave each boy a cup of Chaps food! They ate it like savages!
Then they ran all over my back patio, in the dark and did all of their potty business. I could have not asked for anything more. These boys are soooooooooo good! They were ready to travel!
I opened the doors of the BHV and they both jumped in so I did not bother with the kennels. Not the smartest choice but off we went.
Stewie was itching to come over into my lap and I could not have that. I stopped and grabbed my basset hauling CD. The first song on the CD is this. I cranked it up and both hounds laid down and I cruised towards the new life that was in store for both of them. Fitting indeed! Music soothes the savage kangaroo! hehehe
I arrived 15 minutes early and Georgia Basset Hound Rescue and All Bassets Cherished were already there.

Here is a few hounds from GA going to NY! Here is the totally pawsome GA van that transports GA hounds up north!

Since our blue eyed boys had pottied moments ago we loaded them into the ABC van and I helped walk the the others. There were 9 total heading to NY. Here is Stewie on the left and Mikey in the large kennel getting ready to start their new life!

I could tell they missed me. There was some slight crying. No worries. These guys are secret treasures, looking for love in all the right places!
I pulled out and cranked up another song on the transport CD!
This one took me almost home…………
You can bet I was shedding a few tears……
More looking for love in all the right places later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
