I have to share the cutest story with the residents….

May 31st, 2011 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and cute story lovers. OMD, I just remain in awe of my kids but this story is about the Mayor. He is so incredibly smart and sweet.

OK, here goes…..Yesterday my Mom and I were outside planting flowers in the 90 degrees heat and extreme humidity. We were not going to stay out long, just to get a few pink flowers in the ground.

IMG_3210

We had an audience of 1.

“Hey, where did everyone go?”

IMG_3209

1 baby left in the nest. And then there were none. See the wings coming up? Well come up they did and that kid flew the nest.

So, we were feeling over heated and went inside for lunch. Grandma went upstairs and I went in my front door. The Mayor was waiting for me. I looked at him and began to fan my shirt and tell him howl hot I was. The Mayor turned on his paws and took off running. I followed him to the bathroom where he was sitting in front of the AC vent. It was really one of the cutest things I have ever seen. It was like he was telling me to sit down and cool off.

IMG_3219

I sat down with him and cool off I did. I kept telling him howl smart he was. Can you believe it?

Thumper the Thunder Bunny and Riding the Storm Out!

May 26th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Thumper the Thunder Bunny Lovers! Here is the “guy” that helps our Mayor with Riding the Storm Out!

IMG_3170

OK, that makes me think of this song…

It is about 4 minutes long. Just as a side note, I probably listened to this song about 300 times or more in the 1970s….hehehe What is 4×300? Then divide that by 60? Oh, forget it….

But last night I was singing it in my mind, and saying “good boys” (includes favorite bunny)…

Thank goodness for Thumper the Thunder Bunny!

IMG_3166

Chaps loves this bunny in his Storm Cage!

Last night was a wild storm ride. Chaps did so good. I got sleep. Emma had no idea what was going on. Nothing phases her.

I felt that I had a famous painting in my living room today!

May 25th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Famous Painting Lovers…..

Today was a mundane day which involved stripping the beds and de-hairing the home. It is all very routine. Howl ever, sometime the routine provides a real treat….

masterbedroom2

It hit me immediately…..

Emma reminded me of one of my favorite painting by Andrew Wyeth.

masterbedroom

Delicious. I did a blog back in 2009 about this painting.

There is nothing so sweet as a hound at sleep!

Ranger Rescue Update:)

May 25th, 2011 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wondering about Ranger Lovers……

Our Ranger was adopted!!!!! By a very nice family in Northern KY. I did some networking but I am not sure howl the family found Ranger, their new basset hound lover!

This is Ranger and I talking to the rescue woman. Look howl serious I look! Then, look at Ranger…It just looks like he is saying, “So, what do we do from here?”

IMG_2900

Someone got lucky when they adopted Ranger. He is such a great boy. Grandma and I were lucky to meet him.

Now, in other basset rescue news….

I received an e-mail from Suzanne of Mid-Atlantic to see if I could be on call to help this young man!

Zoomer

Start of e-mail from Suzanne….

“Hi Cat,

There is a 14-16 week old male basset puppy that we have agreed to take in. They need to move him out within the next week since they are closing down..

Can I ask your help in putting out the word for help for our rescue in getting Zoomer up here?

Suzanne Fitch
Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue”

Of course I will. I will even go get him! He is only about an hour and half away. Suzanne is working on a transport as we speak. I would love to meet this sweet boy! He will be Zooming into to someone’s heart soon!

Grandma, we may be on another transport soon!

Thanks Suzanne for taking this baby boy! Let me know what I can do……

May 23rd, 2011 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Hal from Tokyo Lovers….

I so enjoy keeping up with Hal and his new English version blog. It is so much fun to see where he gets to go. Tokyo seems so much more relaxed about letting dogs do stuff.

Here is the link to the actual blog posting and believe me, it is well worth the read!

Do Baby Robins Think Chaps Has Worms?

May 21st, 2011 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Baby Robins Thinking Chaps Has Worms Lovers!

It was so funny when we got home today. Chaps went out back as I was getting ready to open his gate. He bumped into the planter that the baby robins are in. They are in the top middle pot.

IMG_3136

When he bumped the wrought iron planter they all woke up!

IMG_3141

They thought Mom and Dad were bringing the worms……

They waited…..

IMG_3143

And waited…..

IMG_3147

And then I was waiting to see if the fourth baby would show up!

YES!

IMG_3153

Then it was our dinner time!

The Mayor is Hungry!

P.S. The Robins were fed for about an hour after we went inside! Worms for everyone!

We had a great time today at the Paige Alessandro Memorial Run/Walk!

May 21st, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Paige Alessandro Lovers….Well, I never was fortunate enough to meet Princess Paige but she was the loving Grand Daughter of Judy and Rick, of Bumper and Abby of Bassethoundtown. That makes little Paige a resident as well!

Paige

Paige bravely battled a spinal vascular disease her entire life and suffered a very severe spinal stroke in 2008. After overcoming many obstacles, Paige died peacefully from acute liver failure which was more than likely a complication of her disease.

Get this! Over a 1000 folks showed up today and early estimates say that 33K was made for Children’s Hospital of Cincinnati. It was sooooooooo cool. Most, if not all of the runners had on tutus and sparkles on their running shoes. It really was a sight to behold I am told. We did not get there until the family walk.

IMG_3101

Here are a few Princesses after the family walk.

IMG_3108

Grandma and I donated a basket for the raffle. It was the coolest basket there, just ask me! hehehe

IMG_3110

Judy did a cute booth called adopt a pet. She had little stuffed animals that you could dress in cute items.

IMG_3124

Check this out! This bike was part of a silent auction. I would have LOVED to tool around on this beauty.

A PINK SCHWINN BIKE! The seat was shaped like a heart. OMD! I would have taken up bike riding again but the auction was up to 200.00! Dang. Howl ever this gal looked cute on my bike!

IMG_3127

Next year Grandma and I are going to do a kissing/slobber booth. Now that I have the lay of the land I think this will be our way to get those TICKETS!

“Anyone want a kiss? That will be 3 tickets… NEXT PLEASE”

IMG_0250

More, “That’s the Ticket” later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
