Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Granny Smith Lovers…OMDawg…I love Granny Smith Apples. I was having one with my breakfast this morning and Daisy Lynn wanted a bite. Can hounds have apples? Who better to ask than my boyfriend, Google….
Yes, dogs can have apples with no problem. A taste of apple a day keeps the vet away!
Google suggested that I put a few small pieces in a Kong. Guess what? I bought her a Kong that I had not given her yet. Let’s give it a whirl.
Sounds like fun!
This kept her busy for about 20 minutes…
She enjoyed her Granny Smith slice and her new puppy Kong…

But wait a second…I started to wonder if these rubber Kongs were safe. Did they have that awful BPA in them or other chemicals?
So back to boyfriend Google. It was strange. I could not find the answer which is very odd. So, I called Kong. The answer is “no”. Kongs are made to the strict regulations that human Children’s toys are made to. The customer service rep was awesome and I made a suggestion to her. Add this fantastic information to your website. Concerned parents want to know these things are safe.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and warm weather lovers…Well, in bassethoundtown we cannot wait for the good weather.
When I was talking to the previous owner of our Daisy Lynn, she was telling me that she was excited for her to move to a warmer climate.
I can certainly see why! If the heat is on she will find the vent!
She loves warm air blowing on her.
Daisy Lynn would have never made it in Denver! hehehe

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Beautiful Hound Lovers…OMDawg Daisy Lynn looks so great. Her fur feels like butter cream frosting.
Daisy Lynn was a bit nervous being in the bath environment….
This is the first time we have washed a basset in the tub! That in and of itself was exciting!
For about 1 minute! It was like we were lowering her into a torture chamber….
The entire bath lasted about 3 minutes…
Grandma and I worked like crazy but got her soaped up and rinsed in record time.
It was worth it!

Tonight Daisy Lynn and I have big plans. Laying around looking out the window!
Guess who was sitting right in the front yard? Yes, you got it! Verna or one of her earlier fledglings. It was so cute.
I called our young Mayor’s name and told her that we take care of our robins in bassethoundtown!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Home Visit Lovers…Today our very own Cindy of the Doyle Hounds went on a home visit for Basset Buddies Basset Rescue of TX. She went to see if the applicant for a new rescue hound would pass the home test. Of course they passed with flying colors and Cindy said it was the perfect home for any basset. Howl could it not be? Look who is also waiting for a new friend….
His name is MAYOR!!!
OK, Howl sweet is this guy? Can you believe howl much he looks like our very own late Mayor?
Well, Cindy could not either so she sent me some pictures of the big sad guy.
He recently lost his bonded mate named Molly who went over the bridge…
Mayor has been so sad and lonely.
Now Mayor will have a friend to live with in his big beautiful home and be his new companion. That extra bed will be filled with love soon.

Thank you Cindy for sharing this wonderful hound who so reminds me of my darling and strongly missed Mayor.

Daisy Lynn is extremely food driven and seems to love everything so we will continue with the green beans. I buy frozen with nothing added. Just fresh then frozen green beans in the bag.

Well guess who went home today? Yes, the cousin dogs. All good things must come to an end;)
I think Daisy will be fine. I know Romeo and Enzo will. I was worried about Daisy Lynn getting to attached and then, them going away, but I don’t get that feeling anymore. I think she loves being part of that pack but she is OK with them leaving.
Not to worry, baby Daisy…They will be back in…let’s see….about 4 weeks!
