Inverted Nipples in Dogs..

March 23rd, 2013 - 12:12 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset hound and inverted nipple wondering lovers…Guess what?  Our Mayor has an inverted nipple!  Poor girl.  Grandma and I know every inch of every basset we have ever had and the Mayor Daisy Lynn is no exception.  I first noticed this inverted nipple about a week ago.  It is on the left at the top of her mammary chain.  There is a little divot where the nipple should be.  It can infect and sure enough it did.  Her harness rubs on it.

We took her to the doctors today. It is slightly infected.  The Mayor is on a course of antibiotics now.

This is not too unusual but it is a problem.  The inversion lets debris into that area.  Her doctor was not too concerned.

We will test the new daisy harness out tomorrow.  Our Mayor is going to Dr. Leick for her well baby visit to check out her long bones!  We are doing a base line check.  We love Dr. Leick.

More keeping up with nipples and bones later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB) missing and loving Dr. Leick.

I’m not so sure what’s worse, inverted nipples or the ones like Harriet has that drag the ground.

Something that you’ll have to keep an eye on.
