Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and not hound in the pound lovers…..Well, last night Ms. Marilyn from House of Puddles e-mailed me to see if I had in contacts in Somerset, KY.  I think Somerset is about 6 hours away or so.

I put this post on facebook this morning and received some pretty good networking help.

Here is the posting…….

This elder gentle hound wound up in “jail” at the Pulaski County Animal Shelter (606)679-6432 http://pcanimalshelter.com/ in Kentucky. They think he is about 7 or 8 but he looks older to me. He is on a stray hold until Monday but no one has called for him as of today. I called the pound this morning and they said he is really sweet. I told the pound I would network him. I think I will call him John, after my Dad. Please share! Thank you:)

John

Is John not just the sweetest hound?

I will keep you all posted and goodness sakes if you know anyone that can help this hound please comment and pass his information along.

My goal is to have him on his own couch quickly…..

A brave TX Lady needs our help….

July 12th, 2011 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and TX Lady Lovers…..

EMMA’S GULLY BLANKET SOLD – SOLD – SOLD – TO SANDY GASTON OF CAMP TOAST FOR 70.00!

SANDY IS GOING TO RE-DONATE THE EMMA GULLY TO BASSET RESCUE OF PUDGET SOUND!

THANK YOU SANDY, LADY IS LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH GIVING FRIENDS IN HER LIFE!

Lady is a new resident of Bassethoundtown thanks to Cindy, Rugs, Jethro, Ozzie and Harriet Doyle.

Cindy volunteers for Basset Buddies Rescue of TX and helps with their ongoing efforts to aid the homeless hounds of TX.

Even though BBRTX was full they agreed to help Lady with her urgent medical needs.  Poor Lady was raging with glaucoma and was basically in an emergency situation. She needed her eyes removed pronto!

LadyTXDoyle

Cindy gives us some background….

“Lady was found on the internet by a young lady who took her and was going to care for her.  After a few days she realized that she had too many health issues and she would not be able to afford to do the vetting.  So, she called Galveston County Animal Shelter who called Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas to see if we would take her.  BBRTX didn’t have a foster home for this sweet girl but agreed to get her to the vet and start her journey to getting well while they searched for a foster home.  Lady had glaucoma, light heart worms, intestinal worms and needed spaying.  She is very thin and her nails were long and chipping.  She has started her journey to getting well by having her eyes removed, relieving her of much pressure and pain.  Her heartworms can be treated with heartguard and she was spayed while she was under having her eyes removed.  She was wormed for intestinal worms and her nails have been trimmed.  She already looks and feel much better.  She’s slowly gaining weight and has a big jump on her road to recovery.  She’s young and strong and it won’t be long before she’ll be enjoying her new life ahead.”

Well, as Cindy told us, Lady had her eyes removed a few days ago.

LadyTXDoyleER

She is doing remarkable and is probably experiencing massive relief from the intense pain of glaucoma.  Now she needs a home and some money to pay her tab at the vet.  Cindy thinks that the bill will be about 1000.00 with everything she has had done.  Lady is also boarding at the vet as well.  So far someone has donated 300.00 towards her vet bill.  I think it is someone that is on BBRTX facebook page.

Chaps and Grandma donated 50.00.

Cindy is doing a fundraiser at work.

Now, Emma wants to do her part.  Emma wants to donate a brand new fresh gully blanket!

IMG_3643

THERE IS ONLY ONE!

IMG_3651

The cost for the blankee is 35.00 which includes shipping and a free blank Lily collection greeting card.  100% of this sale will go to BBRTX towards Lady’s tab.

First come first serve to help defray the cost of the eye enucliation surgery.

One blind girl helps another blind girl.

LadyTXDoyleER2

REMEMBER THERE IS ONLY ONE GULLY BLANKET.  AS SOON AS SOMEONE BUYS IT I WILL POST SOLD AT THE TOP OF THIS BLOG.

TO PURCHASE THE EXCLUSIVE EMMA GULLY BLANKEE SEND ME AN E-MAIL AND TELL ME HOWL YOU WILL BE PAYING.  I WILL USE THE TIME OF THE E-MAIL TO DETERMINE WHO WAS FIRST!

Cindy, please keep us posted on Lady’s progress and her bill.  I an anxious to find out about her foster home and if they need any advise from me.  I am willing to help anyway I can.  This is a major surgery and the recovery is a solid 2 to 3 weeks.

More blogging about about Lady later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. I wonder if Emma has anything else up her sleeve?

September 3rd, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and rescue lovers! Most folks are celebrating Labor Day on Monday, I am celebrating it today. To celebrate I participated in a Labor of Love for Mr. VooDoo the extremely delicious and needy senior gentle hound!

I picked up VooDoo at 8:15 this morning. Himz was all zippy with a spring in his step.

IMG_9101

We hustled right out and loaded right up so we could be on time for our meet up with Kathy in Sidney, OH!

IMG_9106

“Excuse me, who are you and where are you taking me?”

IMG_9108

Don’t worry big guy, we will be at our meeting spot in about 2 hours! We pulled in and our 2nd leg, Kathy was waiting on us!

VDdrop1

VooDoo is handed over to the bassetabulous Kathy who offered to pick VooDoo up in Sidney, OH and drive him back to her home town of Maumee, OH where VooDoo’s forever Mommy will be waiting.

IMG_9116

Kathy offered to help drive and that could not have been more of a treat!

“Treat? Did someone say TREAT???”

IMG_9117

“I like this LADY!” (Can ya tell?) hehehe, there is nothing like a smiling basset hound!

IMG_9120

“No time to dilly dally around we must make tracks to my forever Mommy……”

IMG_9124

Roger that good buddy!

IMG_9125

Then Kathy e-mailed a few pics from her leg….

Howl cute is this couple?

VDDrop3

Maumee, near Toledo, 111 miles to go! I can think of no better traveling companion than Mr. VooDoo!

VDDrop4

“Hey, thanks Kathy for the lift, is my new Mommy here yet?”

VDDrop5

Yes, she is sweetheart! Her name is Corey and she is going to drive you to her home in Parma, MI!

Snap, Snap, Snap smile for the camera. I am your new Mommy!

VDDrop6

Let’s load up and meet your new family!

VooDoo arrives at my vet, aka B&B and spa day!

September 2nd, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and VooDoo Lovers! Our newest homeless resident arrived at my vet today via his chauffeur, Paula Dunlap. Paula drove him all the way from Knoxville. She had himz in the back seat but he would had none of that! Remember, VooDoo was a long haul trucker’s co-pilot so a bit of arranging had to be made.

Paula moved him to the front seat and the drive was smooth sailing all the way north!

0902000953

VooDoo arrived for his scheduled spa appointment right on time and was whisked away for his extreme makeover!

0902001329

The folks at my vet office love him and he is already nestled into his bed for the night. I will pick himz up about 8:30am and travel to Sidney, OH where I will meet the wonderful Kathy. She will transport him to his forever Mommy, Corey near Toledo. She lives in Parma, MI!

The good thing about this transport is that VooDoo has traveled his entire life. His Daddy is probably looking down on all of this with a huge grin on his face and pulling that air horn! HONK, HONK! Here comes VooDoo to start a new life.

I will have many pictures tomorrow.

More trucking up 1-75 later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. for those of you who follow my tweets you may have noticed they are not being updated. Twitter has done some changes and it screws up howl they appear on my blog. I normally like to send out some when I am transporting. You can always click MORE UPDATES and see what they are if you want.

Yes, I am a twit!

Breaker, Breaker, 19. Breaker, Breaker 19…

September 2nd, 2010 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and breaking news lovers…..

Well, yesterday was a whirl wind of e-mails and coordination regarding a very needy senior boy hound in Knoxville, TN. His is another sad story. His name is VooDoo and the only person who ever loved him was a truck driver that was found passed away at a truck stop, apparently of a heart attack.

VooDoo was left at a distant relative’s home, neglected and basically abandoned. The poor thing not only must be grieving the loss of his loved one but then he is neglected and left to his own devises. His nails are so long he can barely walk. The fleas are eating him alive.

downsized_0901001204

Over the course of about 10 hours yesterday a group of us working as a team on facebook found VooDoo a great new Mom that lives in MI. Her name is Corey.

Marilyn at the HOP was the team leader. She worked her senior magic for VooDoo.

downsized_0901001201

Paula, who lives in Knoxville, where VooDoo is languishing, is driving him up to my vet today where he will get a spa treatment and B&B.

I hope everyone is OK with using our 70.00 to get him a bath, a Capstar, clip his nails so he can walk:(, anal gland expression, kennel cough vaccination, and food/lodging for the night. I can’t risk putting him in my BHV and infesting it with fleas.

I will pick him up in the morning and drive him to middle OH where a woman named Kathy will take him to Toledo to meet his forever Mommy.

Poor guy has been through so much. It’s the least we can do for a new life. His truckin’ days are over.

This picture was just sent to me from Paula who is now on the road to my vet.

10-4 Good buddy, 10-4!

Keep checking back for more updates.

The Blue Eyed Boys want to thank BJ, Gary, Charlie, Otis, Zoey, and Phelps!

August 24th, 2010 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and paying off the Blue Eyed Boys Bills Lovers! I am so excited to report that BJ, Gary, Charlie, Otis, Zoey and Phelps have donated 50 dollars towards the Blue Eyed Boys Bills. Look at this cute card!

IMG_9017

Now we have 135.00 dollars towards the 150.00 bill. But get this! I know more doe is coming in. I really think more doe is also coming that we can put towards our next homeless basset hound town resident! I know you all know I will spend it wisely.

Get this…..

Turns out Mikey and Stewie are not food aggressive at all. They were just starving. Their foster family reports that they are eating fine together. They just need to know that food will be coming on a regular basis. That just breaks my heart that these guys were starving. I could tell when Grandma and I fed them. Our eyes were as wide as saucers as they ate. We gave them twice what we feed the kids. I know that is why they slept so good that night in my basement. A cool, quite place on a hot summer night with a full belly. Life was and is good!

IMG_8897

I love basset hound rescue. We as humans have those long basset backs!

Thanks BJ and everyone that gave and will! All the rescue cases are different but one thing is the same.

BASSET HOUNDS ARE HUNGRY! LOL!

More reports later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Mikey wants to say “thank you” also!

August 21st, 2010 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow basset hound and Mikey saying “thank you” lovers…. I promised more pictures and these are of our Mikey!

IMG_8852

Stewie was not the only one to jump into Grandma’s arms. OMD, he was affectionate. A real lover. He would bury his head in our arms for ever.

Look at this face!

IMG_8879

One of the rescues I was working with passed after they heard they both had one blue eye. I asked, “what is wrong with one blue eye?” The response was, “bad breeding!” I had to laugh. Bad breeding huh. Emma was from the breeding program of the President of the Basset Hound Club of America. Now that’s some bad breeding.

Mikey said, “I think my blue eye is special!”

IMG_8881

So did All Bassets Cherished! They loved their one blue eye! So did I! Just beautiful!

Plus, who could refuse this?

IMG_8870

Ahhhhhh……Gotta love it!

“Thank you Basset Hound Town”. Love, Mikey!

Stewie says, “thank you” to bassethoundtown….

August 21st, 2010 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Stewie Lovers. I had to share this series of pictures of Stewie saying, “thank you” after we pulled into BHT yesterday. This is what he did as soon as he arrived….

He jumped right into my lap!

IMG_8857

Then he went belly up for Grandma. It is amazing every hound around always goes belly up for Grandma….

IMG_8848

Then all of the thank yous came pouring out…..

IMG_8875

“Am I dreaming?”

IMG_8876

“Can life be this good?”

IMG_8878

“Ahhhhhhhhhhh……..Life is good!”

Stewie and Mikey are pawsomely cool!

August 21st, 2010 - 3:03 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Stewie and Mikey Lovers. Well, today we left basset hound town and traveled to Dayton to collect some of our homeless residents, Stewie and Mikey. They were in the Montgomery Animal Resource Center and it is very nice.

IMG_8809

First things first, I paid their debts so they could be sprung from prison.

2 boys vetting, neutered, micro chipped, and boarded for over a month….150.00. Priceless

IMG_8811

Heather is the gal who worked relentlessly to get these blue eyed boys out of there! Thank you Heather!

IMG_8812

Now we are off to collect our Stewie!

IMG_8814

OMD, I about lost it. As soon as we came to Stewie he did this to show us his neuter surgery scar. It was like he was saying, “They hurted me!” I actually heard my Mom gasp at his beauty!

Then it was off to collect our Mikey….

IMG_8817

Man O Man was he itching to get out of his pen. Another handsome blue eyed boy! I felt like we had just discovered hidden secret treasures…..

IMG_8820

Then, get this…..I was interviewed by Channel 2 in Dayton, OH. Last night when I was talking with Gary Penny of ABC – All Bassets Cherished – he suggested that I contact them so they could report a happy ending to this story. I jumped all over his suggestion and e-mailed the original reporter. They were on the phone with us off an on the entire drive up to Dayton making sure they knew when to show up.

IMG_8824

Grandma was a bit nervous hence the blurring…..

IMG_8829

Then we moved outside!

IMG_8832

Stewie gets his close up…..

IMG_8833

Mikey gets his close up…..

The we loaded up in the Basset Hauling Vehicle for our ride home and to wait for our 2AM transport rendezvous!

IMG_8842

IMG_8843

IMG_8847

The ride home was perfect. Stewie and Mikey are perfect gentle hounds. My next blog posting, later today will be some fantastic picture I capture of utter and true joy to be out of the pound. These boys are going to be the perfect addition to some one’s family.

Please check back later today. I have to go to bed. I can barely keep my eyes open. I just got home from the transport rendezvous and I will have more about that as well.

More pawsomely cool stories later……Love, Cat (Yawn), Chaps and Emma
