You get the popcorn and I will pick the movie!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Movie Night Lovers.

Back in the day the Mayor used to jump up on the couch and we would watch a movie. Now, he is laying at my feet and we are still going to watch a movie.

chaps_bigmanoncampus

We are watching Earthquake on AMC.  Remember that one from the 1970s with Charleston Heston?

poster Earthquake Charlton Heston Ava Gardner poster2

I remember seeing it in the theater and they had the shaking seats.  It was a hoot!

I made sure to tuck Emma into her pillow nest!

Then I popped the corn.

Lots of extra butter…

Time to shake, rattle and roll with my dates….

Lover Come Back! Good Friday Doris Day Marathon!

April 6th, 2012 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Good Friday Lovers!  As in….Lover Come Back!  OMDawg, this is the best movie ever.  Mad Men has nothing on this movie!

But prior to tuning in I must get my own Mad Man in order…

Scrambled eggs in his dinner
Cyst cleaned with warm compresses and Neosporin applied
A dab of eye medicine in each eye
One tablet of Culturelle for his digestive system
One baby aspirin for his arthritis
One Glucosamine and Chondrotin for his arthritis
One Pepcide AC for his acid reflux
Coconut oil rubbed on his neck for his tiny hot spot
A warm rag to clean his face
A non salted french fry, or 3, as a treat
His pillow fluffed

And down he went for his early evening nap with Emma.  (Her list is just as long but she is not a Mad Man.  She is the Doris Day type.  Strong and Beautiful!)

Lovers come back!

ChapsEmmagm2

I need 3 martinis and a pencil skirt!  NOT!

Just a glass of wine and my Doris Day movie marathon….What a Day it has been!

We took a break from grid iron to go see Iron Lady…

February 6th, 2012 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Wow, yesterday was the Super Bowl of course and not being a fan of football I was working on sorting some pictures. Also, my Mom and I went to see Iron Lady with Meryl Streep.  OK, Meryl will win the oscar for this.  No doubt about it.  Howl ever, the script writers, IMO should be given an F.  There is nothing worse than sitting in a movie and wondering when is it going to actually get underway? Well, this thing never did.  I came out of the theater actually shocked.  I don’t know all that much about Margaret Thatcher but enough to know there was much more interesting stuff in her life than this movie had to offer.  Gawd, this could have been so much better. I checked out IMD after we got home and I was not alone.

Anyway…..

I had the game on later that evening and I was laughing at myself because I had no idea what was going on but everyone seemed so excited and it made it fun.  Cris Collinsworth lives in my home town, about 1 minute from my house.  It was nice watching him as well.

I was also sorting through old pictures and had to share these 2.  They have nothing to do with the Grid Iron or the Iron Lady, just our little lady….Shimlette….

I thought we would hug the fur right off of her body…..

She sure was Grandpa’s girl.

Hope all of the residents had a nice weekend and a great Monday….Love, Cat, Chaps and little ruling our home with an iron paw….Shimmers…

Waterworld and howl it relates to Emma….

December 31st, 2011 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Emma relating to the movie Waterworld Lovers……

Well, actually there is no real connection, except for the fact that she was putting on a better show than the movie itself.  I have seen Waterworld before, back in 1995 when it came out.  I was not impressed then and I was not last night.  I wanted to like it.  I love the actors that were in it.  Anyway, Miss Shimlette was putting on a better show.

Herz started flopping back and forth like a fish…

Flop little girl flop like a fish!

photo 5

Then she started rubbing behind her ears checking for gills.  Remember?  Kevin Costner was part fish and had gills behind his ears?

photo 4

Oh Emma…..you are so cute. Kevin with the gills, not so much

Some howl I made it to the end and yes, it was just as bad as I remembered it.

More glad Emma didn’t suffer through it and enjoyed herself…..

Cat’s Movie Pick – Friday night 7-15-11 – Mao’s Last Dancer!

July 15th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and get ready for a great movie pick lovers!  OMD!  I fell in love with this movie last night and I could not wait to share it with the residents of bassethoundtown.  It is called Mao’s Last Dancer, adapted from the biography of the same name.

li_cunxin

We give this movie 10 paws up.  4 for Chaps, 4 for Emma and 2 for me!

One day, a delegation from Madame Mao’s Beijing Dance Academy arrived at Li’s commune school to find suitable children to study ballet and serve in Chairman Mao’s revolution. At first they passed Li without taking any notice, but just as they were walking out of his classroom, the class teacher hesitated, and suddenly tapped the last gentleman from Beijing on the shoulder and pointed. `What about that boy?’.  And that boy was Li Cunxin.

Put this movie on your list to view and enjoy.  Pop some corn, put your hounds on the couch and get ready to wish this movie was twice as long as it is.

Tornado Alley – Cat’s Summer 2011 Movie Pick!

June 27th, 2011 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Summer Movie Lovers…..

This past weekend Julian, Grandma and I set off for the movies! Before we left, Grandma had to whisk broom the hound hairs off of her Grandson! Tehehehe

IMG_3486

Emma…“What hound hairs? Are they white?”

We went to see Tornado Alley at the Omni Max Theater at the Union Terminal! We rated it 4 paws up!

IMG_3511

Our weather was beautiful for once!

IMG_3509

But the weather for Tornado Alley, not so much!

OH MY DOG! I had goose bumps the entire time. I loved it and so did Julian and Grandma. Chaps, would have HATED IT! No Thundershirt in the world would have got him though this movie.

Can you imagine having this as a basset hauling vehicle?

24

It was so much fun!

After the movie we went up to tower A in Union Terminal and viewed the switching yard. That was pretty cool as well!

IMG_3496

A good time was had by all and it was back to the basset hauling vehicle.

Cat’s Saturday Night Movie Pick – 4/9/11

April 9th, 2011 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Cat’s Movie Pick Lovers….I sure hope you are one of those! I try hard to find the so-called “sleepers” that fall through this cracks but this pick is no sleeper! In fact the only sleepers I saw were Chaps and Emma!

ALL ABOUT EVE!

Released in 1950 and is in my opinion one of the best films ever made.

An ingenue insinuates herself in to the company of an established but aging stage actress and her circle of theater friends.

I had not watched this movie for about 30 years. I was captivated as I clung to every scene, as was Emma…

IMG_2550

3 hours of glorious cinema and Emma was a true “sleeper”!

IMG_2553

Look at that lip! hehehe

Obviously, it was not a bumpy night for Shimlette.

“Run your own race”

February 13th, 2011 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and running your own race lovers……

Well, I watched Secretariat recently and I was wowed. I really loved it! Secretariat means a lot to me. Not the movie, but the horse. Himz is kind of my hero. Secretariat and I have had a moment, every morning, since 1997.

My hero hangs in my home. He brings me inspiration everyday!

IMG_1988

This is a signed print from artist James Puleo that I purchased in Lexington, KY.

I touch his white diamond every morning and say, “let’s win our race”. I was amazed when I saw the movie and one of the main lines was, “Run your own race”! Well, I totally get it.

IMG_1994

“Run your own race.” So much better…..

IMG_1978

Emma runs her own race everyday. A race to the kitchen!

IMG_1997

Today she beat the Mayor!

More running your own race later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
