Waterworld and howl it relates to Emma….

December 31st, 2011 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Emma relating to the movie Waterworld Lovers……

Well, actually there is no real connection, except for the fact that she was putting on a better show than the movie itself.  I have seen Waterworld before, back in 1995 when it came out.  I was not impressed then and I was not last night.  I wanted to like it.  I love the actors that were in it.  Anyway, Miss Shimlette was putting on a better show.

Herz started flopping back and forth like a fish…

Flop little girl flop like a fish!

Then she started rubbing behind her ears checking for gills.  Remember?  Kevin Costner was part fish and had gills behind his ears?

photo 4

Oh Emma…..you are so cute. Kevin with the gills, not so much

Some howl I made it to the end and yes, it was just as bad as I remembered it.

More glad Emma didn’t suffer through it and enjoyed herself…..

Cat’s Movie Pick – Friday night 7-15-11 – Mao’s Last Dancer!

July 15th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and get ready for a great movie pick lovers!  OMD!  I fell in love with this movie last night and I could not wait to share it with the residents of bassethoundtown.  It is called Mao’s Last Dancer, adapted from the biography of the same name.

li_cunxin

We give this movie 10 paws up.  4 for Chaps, 4 for Emma and 2 for me!

One day, a delegation from Madame Mao’s Beijing Dance Academy arrived at Li’s commune school to find suitable children to study ballet and serve in Chairman Mao’s revolution. At first they passed Li without taking any notice, but just as they were walking out of his classroom, the class teacher hesitated, and suddenly tapped the last gentleman from Beijing on the shoulder and pointed. `What about that boy?’.  And that boy was Li Cunxin.

Put this movie on your list to view and enjoy.  Pop some corn, put your hounds on the couch and get ready to wish this movie was twice as long as it is.

Tornado Alley – Cat’s Summer 2011 Movie Pick!

June 27th, 2011 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Summer Movie Lovers…..

This past weekend Julian, Grandma and I set off for the movies! Before we left, Grandma had to whisk broom the hound hairs off of her Grandson! Tehehehe

IMG_3486

Emma…“What hound hairs? Are they white?”

We went to see Tornado Alley at the Omni Max Theater at the Union Terminal! We rated it 4 paws up!

IMG_3511

Our weather was beautiful for once!

IMG_3509

But the weather for Tornado Alley, not so much!

OH MY DOG! I had goose bumps the entire time. I loved it and so did Julian and Grandma. Chaps, would have HATED IT! No Thundershirt in the world would have got him though this movie.

Can you imagine having this as a basset hauling vehicle?

24

It was so much fun!

After the movie we went up to tower A in Union Terminal and viewed the switching yard. That was pretty cool as well!

IMG_3496

A good time was had by all and it was back to the basset hauling vehicle.

Cat’s Saturday Night Movie Pick – 4/9/11

April 9th, 2011 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Cat’s Movie Pick Lovers….I sure hope you are one of those! I try hard to find the so-called “sleepers” that fall through this cracks but this pick is no sleeper! In fact the only sleepers I saw were Chaps and Emma!

ALL ABOUT EVE!

Released in 1950 and is in my opinion one of the best films ever made.

An ingenue insinuates herself in to the company of an established but aging stage actress and her circle of theater friends.

I had not watched this movie for about 30 years. I was captivated as I clung to every scene, as was Emma…

IMG_2550

3 hours of glorious cinema and Emma was a true “sleeper”!

IMG_2553

Look at that lip! hehehe

Obviously, it was not a bumpy night for Shimlette.

“Run your own race”

February 13th, 2011 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and running your own race lovers……

Well, I watched Secretariat recently and I was wowed. I really loved it! Secretariat means a lot to me. Not the movie, but the horse. Himz is kind of my hero. Secretariat and I have had a moment, every morning, since 1997.

My hero hangs in my home. He brings me inspiration everyday!

IMG_1988

This is a signed print from artist James Puleo that I purchased in Lexington, KY.

I touch his white diamond every morning and say, “let’s win our race”. I was amazed when I saw the movie and one of the main lines was, “Run your own race”! Well, I totally get it.

IMG_1994

“Run your own race.” So much better…..

IMG_1978

Emma runs her own race everyday. A race to the kitchen!

IMG_1997

Today she beat the Mayor!

Football not your thing? Well, do I have a treat for you!

February 6th, 2011 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and not loving football lovers. I NEVER watch football and probably never will. I might tune in to half time to see the Peas. Anyway, do I have a treat for you. While all of the TVs in your house are on the football channel you can watch 6 hours of PBS – Masterpiece Theater. Yes! This is a stunning, sweeping, spectacular period piece called – Downton Abbey.

I highly recommend that you take some time and read the website. Make sure to read the interview by Julian Fellowes, writer and director. He sets up his masterpiece very nicely.

The entire 6 hours is on line and runs in 4, 1.5 hour episodes. Howl ever! It is only on line until the 22nd of this month. Then, it will be gone.

Here is the link to all 4 of the episodes:

DOWNTON ABBEY EPISODES 1 THRU 4

Just as a side note. Downton Abbey will continue with 8 more episodes in September of this year. I will notify everyone when they are on.

More loving PBS later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. I now refer to Chaps as his Lordship……

and Emma as her Ladyship…….

peace on earth

P.P.S. You can thank me later…..

Yours truly, Cat AKA, the handmaiden to his Lordship and her Ladyship!
