Don’t Weep For Me

Don’t weep for me,I now can be free of all the Pain and trouble you see.

I know your sad and miss me so , but I’m in your Heart,I didn’t go.

Just close your eyes and I’ll be there , laying next to your favorite chair

I’m the warm summer breeze you feel on your knee’s and the soft rustle

You hear in the trees ,I’ll  be there ,right by your side,

My body is gone but my love never died

I’ll be with you aways until that day when we journey together in Heaven’s way.

By Ken Johnson – 2008

I have a very special little girl that I would like to have christen our
Rainbow Bridge Waiting Place.  She is very dear to us in Basset Hound Town.  She is Emma’s niece and her name is:

SWITCHSTAND CASCADE DAYLIGHT, AKA SADIE

Emma loves her niece.  Emma’s sister, Diva had Sadie!  We are so sad about this.

Sadie passed away with the help of her Mom and Dad from an auto immune disorder.  Young Sadie had a disorder that did not allow her to fight off any infections. There were no antibiotics that could help young Sadie.

This congenital disease was diagnosed at an early age due to BJ and Gary’s vigilance.

BJ and Gary, you will see her again!

Switchstand Cascade Daylight, AKA Sadie.

“Sadie was born 4/9/07 to sire Ch Switchstands The Metor and  Dam Ch BoBac Dulux of Switchstands (Diva).  She came from a litter of 9 sisters and brothers (5 which now have their Championships).  Sadie ATB 8/30th, 10 days short of being 15 months old. We used to call her Sadielious and I would tell her that the freckle fairy came and kissed her on the nose…how I loved those freckles!!  She was loved and adored by her human parents BJ and Gary and her four paws brothers Charlie and Otis.

She thought Charlie was her big snuggle bug and Otis her live toy!!

In her short little life she brought so much love and enjoyment into our lives.  One of the funny things she did (if you forgot to close the bathroom door) was to steal all the towels and drag them all over the floor to her bed, she liked all the soft piles..Sadie will live forever in our hearts and never be forgotten.

She started her life with us on 6/24/07 (11 weeks old) when her mommy drove 18 straight hours to Kansas to pick her up.  She was such a good little traveler and she had her little stuff duckie for security (which I still have…just a little bit chew up).  I will keep it and cherish it forever along with the wonderful memories of our Sadie

Sweet Dreams Sweetheart……WE LOVE YOU….!!!  MOMMY AND DADDY.

UPDATE 5-10-09 MOTHER’S DAY – this tribute is perfect for Mothers day.  Thank you OneMom, my friend Kerry, for letting us all enjoy your memories.  They are so touching and heart felt.  We love you in bassethoundtown.

MAXINE PRECIOUS – SEPT 5, 2000 to FEB 27, 2008 ATB – Beloved hound to Kerry, aka OneMom and her family.

maxine_precious_ott_3

This is the the favorite picture of Maxine Precious as sent in by her Mommy, Kerry. Max left her family much too soon and will always be missed. Her Mommy states, “I named her Maxine, “Max” for short, and added the Precious because that was her mama’s name, and it just described Max perfectly … “Maxine Precious”.

Here is a classic puppy picture of Max…….

This is dear Max in her bed. Looking like the angel she is guarding us all from the bridge.

Rest in peace dear friends.  Your power gives us strength to greet each new day with passion and resolve.

Dear family of Maxine Precious, Lolly and scooter – I cannot tell you how touched I am that you shared your story with the residents of bassethoundtown.  The power of sharing such memories is a glorious gift for all.  In times of grief we all need each other’s engery.  Love, Cat

NEXT BELOVED HOUND AND ANGEL – 1-11-10

Emma’s sister Ch. BoBac Duluxe of Switchstand, ROM passes away:(

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Emma’s Sister Lovers…. Her name was Diva and she was pick of the litter.  Here she is right in the middle…

emma's litter group

Emma is on the very end to the right and Diva is 2 over from her to left if you are viewing the picture.

Diva passed away recently from cancer.  I was not advised of her passing but found out from a third party.  Apparently, Diva had a tumor in her stomach and was sent to the bridge during her surgery.  Diva, like Emma was only 5 years old.  Also, like Emma, Diva had primary glaucoma and lost one of her eyes.

Diva1

I was shocked by her death because I had contacted her owner in early December 2009 to inquire about her health.  I was hurt and saddened that this breeder and BHCA judge did not think enough about Diva’s sister, our Emma, to let me know.  I find this unconscionable.

Diva, (Ch. BoBac Duluxe of Switchstand, ROM)  was recently awarded the top producing bitch of 2009 as reported by the Tally Ho. Also reported was that Diva was owned by Richard and Sharon Nance of BoBac but that was not correct.  Diva was owned by Doug and Missy Taylor but came from BoBac by Richard and Sharon Nance.

I am not sure how many litters Diva had but her winning puppies in 2009 were listed as:

Ch. Switchstand Cannonball
Ch. Switchstand Motor Queen
Ch. Switchstand Storm Queen
Ch. Switchstand Katy Flyer of BoBac
Ch. Switchstand Avalanche
Ch. Switchstand Challenger

Poor Diva – May she now rest in peace…

More later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma who loved her sister as you can see from the photo….

NEXT ANGEL…….

MABEL PARKER…..

Message from Ken & Sheena Parker:
“Mabel was with us for only two years. She was a stray that wondered into our home december 28, 2008. Mabel made herself at home and never left. Our Beloved Mabel was diagnosed with Lymphatic Cancer December 16, 2009. We had to help Our beloved Beautiful Girl to the “Rainbow Bridge” January 01, 2010.Mabel was always the perfect little lady. In the last two years of Mabel’s life, Mabel always, always, knew she was loved and adored. Mabel was spoiled rotten. She and we loved it! We miss her so very much.”

She was one lucky girl to wander up to that home!

A great Daddy (Magnum) and his dear friend (Cheyna) depart for the rainbow bridge

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and cherishing Chaps Daddy lovers…..

It is with great sadness that I deliver this sorrowful news.  The great and wonderful Magnum, Chaps Daddy, has departed for the rainbow bridge along with his best friend Cheyna.

Daddy Magnum

This great gentleman and Father to Chaps was 13 and 1/2 years old and his family, Karen and Tim are heartbroken. All of those who loved him are heartbroken as well.  I know that Magnum had many lovers in this town.  He was held up as a magnificent elder statesman as the great and wonderful Daddy of Chaps.

Karen writes,

“I cried so hard this year when the azaleas started to bloom.  I knew it would be the last time Magnum would enjoy walking under the bushes and slowly tickling and scratching his back.”

Karen continues….

“Ever since we adopted Cheyna as a senior dog she has followed closely behind Magnum.  For the last couple of years they have been close and would take walks like an old married couple.  They loved each other and followed each other closely in life and death. Cheyna was over 14.”

It is my wish that Grandpa met them as they crossed over the rainbow bridge.  My Dad, greeting Chaps Dad, and his best friend.  That makes me feel good.

IMG_7878

Back in 2005 I designed this rock that looked like a heart for Magnum. I found it in my garden. I never sent it to him because I enjoyed looking at it every day.  I think deep down I was waiting for this day. Now I will send it to Karen and Tim.  There is also room on the rock to add the name Cheyna.

We love you with all of our hearts and delicate souls……..

IMG_7849

This is hard on us….

IMG_7857

Dog Speed Magnum and Cheyna, you both made the world a better place…..

Thanks Kip, I am working on this page for all of the BHT residents that have gone to the bridge. I want a place to honor their memory.

The header reflects my feelings. The left side is the storm that happens when we are about to send a child to the bridge. The right side, is the right thing to do. It is much harder on us than them. Time holds no bounds to our hounds. We could be gone an hour, or days and they are just as happy to see us.

    Angels, all of them.

Cat , Please feel free to use my poems Waddle at the Bridge and Beyond the Rainbow and anything else you want. It is up to you but I wanted to offer. Love Ken

Oh Ken, I will certainly use your poems. I want to sprinkle cool stuff all over this page. I agree, I need to tell folks about this. It could get pretty huge and I might need a new larger section for it on my website. Oh how our hounds touch our hearts!

    Love you Ken

  9. October 19th, 2009 | 8:59 am

Kathy – I have no idea about an all natural diet. I hear about it on the Daily Drool some times. Do you belong to the Daily Drool? If not, you should join. It is a wealth of knowledge.

Thanks for the comment and hugs to you and your memories of dear Freedom.
