Other topics will remain password protected, for members only. Those topics are being slammed with spam from get this, prestigious Universities like Stanford! Hate spam! Seems a bit over the top to me.

This has not been on my top list since the Nationals. Geezus, give me a break! OK?

So, I am busy on this board and in my life! I am planning a mini leaf viewing trip with my Mom and the kids! It is going to be so much fun. Kentucky is wonderful in the fall. Chaps birthday is coming up so we always like to celebrate it in a big way. He loves walking through the leaves. Emma enjoys all of the smells.

10-13-11 - Hi readers! Just checking in. I am doing an update on the forum and I don't have time to work on it for so many reasons! My normal haters are still hatin' on me. Mostly the same folks that supported Willard and her cess pool where she kept her hounds so this hatin' does not surprise me one bit. The angry mob is shouting "Sue, Sue, Sue". These same folks are usually screaming, "My rights, My rights, My rights". So, again, I am not surprised. Actually, it is not a big surprise that like minded folks gather together. They create forums and support each other. They can sit around the camp fire and sing kumbaya and I will speak out for the hounds.

My forum is mostly about speaking out about stuff most folks don't want to talk about because it is too touchy and hot. Stuff like cruelty, neglect, puppy mills, breeders that lie about health issues, underworld dog show secrets, 501c3s that won't report their donations, hoarding, back yard breeders, and the list goes on and on.

Oh, hell to the yes, I am on it.

Breeders or Rescues, it makes no difference if someone is hurting a hound.

What does make a difference is what side the reader is on for each particular issue. There is no way I can please everyone all of the time. It is not my goal. My goal is to shine a light on the truth! The truth for each particular issue. Dog have mercy, there are tons of them.

Wow, thank you so much for checking into the forum. I have over 2000 clicks a day. I have been so busy away from the internet to work on the forum. I will have this back up and online at some point. I totally know that most folks only read this forum for info and do not comment. I love giving hounds a voice. It is so sad when they are left. Please....don't leave them. They love to chatter and teach us. They are so much smarter than us.

I thought it appropriate at this time of year, to tell my tale of the Daily
Drool Calendar, and what it has come to mean to me personally.

Over 10 years ago, I had a real life - which has been replaced with a
rescue life. They are two completely different things, however back in the day I was able to submit my own hounds photos, buy calendars and gift them to family and friends. I loved the calendar back then, and loved seeing my babies; Cocshall and Barnaby in them. That life changed as I dedicated my time
and efforts to Daphneyland and saving hounds, and the disposable income went bye-bye. No longer could I afford a calendar or to participate.

And into my life walked a basset owner who had just discovered us and the Drool. Little did he know that back in those days I knew almost all the DD hounds personally, and when he "gifted" me a calendar that first year we met, I cried. I barely knew him, and he gave me the DD babies, something I could not give myself.
He thought he had stumbled onto something that was wonderful, and who better to have a basset a day calendar than Daphneyland? He was 100% correct and that copy is cherished to this day.
The tradition has continued all these years later. I love this man for that dedication - and the joy that seeing the babies gives to us all up here - every single day.

Please never take the DD Calendar for granted. Late at night after
singing songs to the hounds and having them snore away - the last ritual of the night at Daphneyland is to turn the calendar page to tomorrow - and I leave the kennel every night with a smile on my face - for those are our dearest faces - those calendar faces smiling at us - hounds from the world over, pampered, loved and forever in a loving home. We may no longer know them all personally, however we are all family, caught in a web of basset love.

Thank you to the 2012 calendar elves - they may not have arrived, I do however know without a doubt, that my special calendar guy will bring our beloved DD hounds to Daphneyland for another year.
