Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Chaps winning the cover of the mini Yellow Pages Loves! When we woke up this morning, Chaps was stretching and preening and I told him, “This is the month big boy. This is when your mini Yellow Pages cover will be released” !

OK – like I said, we are waiting with baited breath. I have an e-mail into the person in charge of all of this to see when! OH FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD AND GRACIOUS……..WHEN!

I guess you can tell we are not one bit excited! LOL!

Do you guys get a mini/companion yellow pages? It is typically used in your car. Well, that is the cover that Chaps will be on for Northern KY. The contest was for Cincinnati and Northern KY and there were 2 winners! Chaps received the most votes and yes, I am bragging! The Mayor won 1000 dollars because all of his residents voted! We can all brag!

It’s all in a day’s work! Slurp!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Atlantis hitching a ride lovers! I just love stuff like this. I always get all cold chilly! This is a video from YouTube of the space shuttle going piggy back on a modified Boeing 747 from Edwards Air Force Base to Kennedy Space Center in FL. The mission takes several days due to re-fueling stops.

I follow NASA via twitter and you get up to the second updates at times. I also follow a few astronauts which is totally pawesome!

Check out that fighter jet that is following. I bet that was a cool flight.

Anyway, this is about 10 minutes long so you can fast forward through it if you like. The mission has landed in El Paso and will spend the night.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and June Lovers: I just cannot go without posting this video again. I did the same thing last year on June the first. I just cannot stop singing this song today!

How come they don’t do stuff like this anymore? Who is “they” anyway.

Oh well, Happy first day of June everyone. Chaps is so funny. He just is looking at me so odd. I keep singing to him. I tried to capture his June look!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and planting flowers lovers: I don’t know what is wrong with me (read on) I love flowers at this time of the year! The buying, the planting, the beauty! I just cannot get enough. Today Grandma and I planted the back porch area and it is just beautiful. These are the same pots that Verna built her nest in. I was watering them and thought it looked so pretty!

Here is my artsy shot with the sun shining through the water! Here is another one.

It was so much fun, until Chaps thought it was raining and the entire moment took a turn for the worse.

Anyway, I hate to admit it, but I will, I start resenting all of my flowers if the rain does not help me out. It’s like, “Who is going to water the flowers, I did it last night you do it tonight Oh, I can’t do it tonight will you do it?……..Blah, blah, blah!”

I sound so bitter! So, you know what? I am going to turn a new leaf! No complaining about watering! I started off on a good note. Then, I came inside and saw Emma! What is she doing? It is almost summer dear girl!

Herz needs to help Mommy water! Let’s not get all bored too soon!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and just wondering how many basset hounds in basset hound rescues in the USA need forever homes lovers:

I think I might go to my rescue links page and do a very rough count. It is totally out of curiosity. I also thought it wound be nice to know. Of course this would not count how many are not in rescue and in shelters. I could probably do that count as well, but I just don’t have the stomach for that one.

They would, for the most part be on pet finder.

If you had to guess, how may bassets do you think are in basset hound rescues in the USA that need homes? Without counting or going to the rescue sites for a rough estimate, I am going to guess 410. That seems really low when I fester on it, but I am going to stick with it.

I will give my best estimate very soon after I do a rough count. Not tonight, but very soon. Feel free to leave a guess as well and we can see who comes close. I wanted to feature a hound that needs a home so I was diplomatic and googled basset hounds that need rescue.

Guardian Angel Basset Hound Rescue came up first and the first hound on their site was:

SAMMIE! So, Sammie is going to be our inspiration for guessing. You can imagine my glee when I read this!

Look at this beautiful little girl! She is around 8 years old and is very quiet and easy going.
She is house broken and loves to get her beauty sleep at night and during the day.

Sammy will let you know when she has to go out but other than that you wont even know
she is around. We have had her for a couple of weeks and have not gotten her on the
site because we were getting use to her. She is BLIND!!

We have never had a foster who was blind but are totally amazed at how she is handling herself. We have other bassets and 2 other dogs who have accepted her . She is just one of the bunch.

I am very thrilled and touched that the beginning of my research turned up this elderly, blind girl.

So, like I said, I was just wondering???????????

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and nest building lovers: This morning I was doing the usual things and the kids were doing their usual things. As I was going to open the windows in the sunroom I passed by Emma who was getting ready for her morning nap and saw the cutest thing. She actually built her own blanket nest! It was perfect!

I of course scurried off to get my camera. Ahhhhhhhhhh……

Verna would be so proud! I actually saw Verna, her mate and one of the babies a few days ago. They were all three sitting on the fence. When they saw me, Verna flew off, circled around and swooped down on the baby as it to shoo it away from me. It was so cute.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Eye Brow Whisker Lovers! Here is another picture of Chaps taken by Lisa, my friend and graphic designer.

Look how impressive that eye brow whisker is? Yet again, another great expression I have failed to capture.

The box that is in the picture is what I prop up in front of the dog door when I am not in the office and the door is closed. Emma is NOT allowed to go through the dog door yet. Actually, it is very handy for those of you in this same situation. Emma does a hop and jump out of the dog door and she cannot maneuver it yet. Make sure you keep that in mind for a long time after back surgery.

I can tell you from experience that she falls flat between the inside and the outside. It will damage your hounds recovery. It may be another 4 or 5 months before the hound can do this on their own.

Howllo Fellow wanting what you want lovers: This is totally off topic, but I had to share. I am addicted to basset hounds, the internet, and TV! Well, the later is the subject of this blog. I love TV. Good TV, bad TV, and just the glow of TV. I am addicted. Since I am adverse to vacationing without the hounds, (plus I cannot afford a vacation), we watch TV or they watch me on the internet when I am not working.

So, I have been saving up for years to get cable in my kitchen. As of this morning I had a black and white TV from the late 1960s as my kitchen addiction. I could get 2 local channels, one of which was fuzzy but buy George, I still had TV. I could kind of see Judge Judy screaming at the cowering podium people. I would feed the kids and hold the antenna and get some good laughs.

Well, a few days ago I bit the bullet and bought a 19” flattie. My old friend, Mr. Black and White was on his way out with only days to spare with the digital transition looming large. I was so excited. I called the cable company and had my appointment all set up. The installer arrived with a huge scowl on his face. How could he not be happy for me? I had to drag him to the kitchen and within seconds he said, ” I can’t put cable in this kitchen.”

I was none to thrilled. No one ever tells me “can’t”. That word does not compute. So, I asked the scowl faced installer to leave, made a few phone calls and before you can say…..ON DEMAND!

I have cable in my kitchen.

I also wanted to point out that if I had listened to this installer’s suggestions I could have spent close to a thousand dollars to have cable in my kitchen. He told me I needed a hole drilled through my granite counter top. Of course, I would have never done that.

Call the company back and talk to a supervisor. Have another installer come out and look at it. Not just with cable but everything. I never take NO or CAN’T for an answer. You know your home better than anyone. The expert installer that came out followed my suggestions along with his knowledge. I heard him tell his boss that the job was a piece of cake.

Now, I must go eat cake while I watch cable in my kitchen.
