Chaps almost went belly up!

July 17th, 2008 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and belly up lovers: I am pleased to report that our Chaps is doing better. My friends Lisa (graphic designer) and her son, Brandon (hard summer time worker) came over today and it really helped. Lisa confirmed that my “helicopter mom” technique was not working. It appears, (but I am not convinced) that our boy was crying to get my attention. Regardless, Chaps is doing much better right now and not crying.

All is right in the world! Slurp!

“Chaps” the soap opera!

July 17th, 2008 - 7:07 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Soap Lovers: I was wondering if anyone wanted a Chaps fix? Well, he is not feeling so well. He was crying a little bit off and on all night. His face looks a little swollen. Dr. Robin called last night to check on hims. She said that he might not be 100% until Friday. She said that his teeth were pretty bad. Dr. Robin used to be dental hygienist before she went to vet school. Here husband is a vet also.

Chaps is still in bed with Emma right now. She will not leave his side until he gets up.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Hounds resting zone!

Chaps is home and resting. Exhale

July 16th, 2008 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Chaps lovers: He is home and resting. He is disoriented but very glad to be home. The vet said I could feed him a small amount and he is holding that down. I am sooooo glad it is over with. So glad. Here is a copy of his bill, if you are interested.

I saved up for months for this procedure. Emma had her teeth cleaned at the same time her eye was removed. It was all very hectic, but her vet made the decision to do it. I was glad, because it only added an additional 100.00 to the bill.

I am sure this is no surprise to anyone, but the vet tech was telling me how procedures like this are way down.

You would not have believed Emma when we came in the door. She was so excited that she was shivering and crying.

Wow, I am glad this day is almost over!

More shivering and crying later, after I balance my check book! LOL, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Chaps is coming out of anaesthesia!!!

July 16th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and good news lovers: I just got the call from my Vet, Dr. Robin Hall, and Chaps has clean teeth with flying colors! I am so relieved. He is strong and somewhat alert. My burger boy has to stay at the vet office until 3:30pm. Hims probably sleepy.

Want to see a rarely seen video of the big guy? I uploaded this to Google in 2006 instead of YouTube because it was for the animator who did my home page talking Chaps. He asked me for some footage of his face. I don’t know why I never uploaded it to YouTube. He looks a bit thinner!

Chaps is at the Vet Office

July 16th, 2008 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Mayor Lovers: Well, Chaps is, as I type, getting his teeth cleaned. For those of you who do not know, it is a pretty big deal. They have to put them under and anytime that is done it is more complicated. He slept good last night (which he always does!) hehehe

Here is Chaps and his Grandma. Our Mayor stops to smell the flowers before he heads inside the Vet office. They do a really cute job landscaping. The pets love smelling and sprinkling all of the flowers! LOL.

Here is Emma offering moral support. I took her along so things would be the same as every other time we go.

He should be done with his procedure very shortly.

More updates later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. Chaps was none too happy missing his meal this morning. As you can tell, he has never missed one. I have him on a diet so I will see if he lost any weight.

We are leaving in about an hour for the “dentist”

July 16th, 2008 - 6:06 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and clean teeth lovers! Our boy is still in bed with Emma. He has been off of food and water since 8:00pm. I will keep everyone posted.

Emma is coming along for the ride. Please come back and check on the Mayor. He needs all of his residents gathered around.

Much More Later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

I think I will wind down and watch a good movie!

July 15th, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Movie Lovers: Well, it’s been a long day and I hope there is a good movie on.

It’s amazing how many channels I get and how much is on TV but I can never find anything to watch. Plus, it takes longer to look through what is on verses watching what one picks.

Oh shut up already and go see what is on. But wait……………..Where will I sit?????????

They have a queen sized bed in my living room!

More about my movie pick later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

Burger Boy aka CH Ralph Lauren, Chaps

July 15th, 2008 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and nick name lovers: How do we come up with nick names? These are the kind of thoughts that enter my head as I eat my massive ice cream cone. I had to run out and buy ice cream after I saw a segment on the Today Show about Graeter’s Ice Cream. It is 1 minute from my house. I thought ice cream would calm my nerves. Remember, Chaps is getting his teeth cleaned tomorrow. ( I know, I’m using him as an excuse).

Please do not drool on the key board over this scoop of black raspberry chip!!! Oprah also has said that Graeter’s Butter Pecan is one of her, “favorite things”, but I digress. We were talking about nick names.

Chaps is a Champion Basset Hound that has won many, many ribbons. He hails from the lone star state and he certainly is a testament to the phrase that all things are bigger in Texas! Many times breeders will have a theme to a litter and Chaps came from a perfume theme. Chaps was a name of a Ralph Lauren Cologne in the 70s. One of his sisters is called Diamonds and Rubies.

Anyway, from the first time I laid eyes on him I called him my big boy. There is a chain of resturants called Big Boy.

Their signature item is a big boy burger. And dear readers, a nick name was born. Burger Boy! He is also big, has a red coat, and lots of drool, aka juicy! So some times I call him my big, red, juicy burger boy! Now your life is complete. The burning question of why I call him burger boy is answered. You can sleep well tonight.

Don’t forget to send him good thoughts tomorrow. I will be very nervous until he is back home. I better go get another ice cream cone, and then swing by Big Boy. It seems to help!

More junk food later…..Cat, Burger Boy, and Emma aka lil’ short cake (I’ll tell ya about that some time)
