It has been a whirlwind in #bassethoundtown…

December 24th, 2017 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and whirlwind lovers.  By whirlwind, I mean a lot of fun.  This December has flown by and now tomorrow is Christmas.  Whew…Yesterday it seems we were in Florida.  Speaking of which I have totally fallen down on our book tour blogging.  Last I recall, I left us on my 60th birthday having dinner.  There is so much more to share with the residents and I cannot wait to get back to what I love…blogging about basset hounds!!!

Now I would like to share our Howl Low Day card with our beloved residents…

Christmas 2017jpeg

We think it turned out pretty good thanks to Grandma and her mad photography skills.  Today we still have a little bit of wrapping to do while sipping white Russians and noshing on a few salted caramels .  I am making a pot of spaghetti for later and the forecast predicts snow!!! I hope so because I want to take some pictures of bassethoundtown with all the lights up later.  It would look great in snow!!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and treat yourself nice.

More loving the residents of bassethoundtown later, Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB lapping up virgin white Russians under rainbow snow…)

Any Idaho Peeps in the House? AKA – #bassethoundtown???

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and Bruno needing a couch for the Howl low days lovers…

This is the link that tells us more about Bruno and there is an adorable video you must watch.  This guy loves his belly rubs for surez!!!

Share his story because it has always been my opinion that it is not the fault of the hound who cannot learn to potty outside it is the fault of the owner.  Bruno clearly did not have the right family so it is a good thing he is away from them.  Some hounds take longer to learn and some pick it up right away.

More hoping this lover gets a couch for Christmas!!! Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB) all were good at potty training.  I was on Emma like a cheap suit but she got the hang of it!!!  LOL

Facebook find of the day…

December 5th, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and Facebook Find of the day lovers…OMDog!!!  I was just sniffing around facebook, scrolling mindlessly down the news feed when my eyes and mind saw a basset hound howlowday box.  I stopped and read the caption that said, “you might be basset obsessed if you see a basset hound box”…I looked closer…

Bassethoundbox

This post made my howl low day season.  OMDog!!!  It’s the baby Jesus family!!!

The new born king!!!  LOL – that is what I used to call Chaps…

So funny, I had to share with the bassethoundtown residents…

More loving laughing later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (The new born King and Emma ATB…)

What are you Thankful for???

November 23rd, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and Thankful Lovers…We do it every year, think back about what we are thankful for.  I actually do that every day.  But…today…I am thankful for basset hound rescue and the dedicated, honest and trustworthy folks I have run into over the past 3 decades.  Yes, I just said that.  My Mom and I have been doing basset hound rescue for almost 30 years.

Wow that is a lot of hounds laying on couches…LOL

Buster

This is Buster – one of our first rescues.

I am thankful for passion…

More loving and being thankful later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB laying on rainbow couches…)

Pussycat Bow!!!

November 17th, 2017 - 8:08 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset and pussycat bow lovers!!!  I thought the title of the blog would get your attention!!!  Yes there is such a thing as a pussycat bow.

It all started when I was looking for brightly colored tassels to add to my redesigned – reinspired  Lilly Pulitzer collection for the bassethoundtown boutique.

So…moving on…

I laid eyes on these shorts at TJ Maxx!!!

IMG_2715

Gawd I love them.  All those tassels for 6 bucks???  Yes Please!!!

IMG_2716

So, I went home and started looking for fabric to match the tassels.  I did not have any with this color of neon orange…

Well, well, well…Come out of your Shell, shell, shell…

The Pussycat Bow bow bow…

Pussycatbow1

Did you know that Lilly started her company from a Florida Juice Stand?  Yes, she wanted to wear a dress with lots of colors so it would hide the juice stains.  She also like the way her shifts looked when she got home at night.  OMDog!!!  I love her…

Pussycatbow2

Bassethoundtown has a seamstress and she brought these prototypes over for Daisy Lynn and I to look at.  The tassels are not on the pussycat bow yet but feast your eyes on this delicious juicy delight!

LilyPshell1

Wow!  Daisy Lynn can really come out of her shell for surez!!!

LilPshell2

Can you just see yourselves at a waddle in these?  #YES!!!

So I ordered more come out of your shell.  I am going to see howl pussy cat bows look as dog collars.  Stay tuned and stay juicy…

More loving inspiration, creation and shorts later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB coming out of their shells on juicy colored clouds…)

PS – Guess what???  The shorts fit me and I kept the tassels on at the bottom.  Florida I hear you calling me to the nearest juice stand…

Internet find of the day…Share Time in #bassethoundtown

November 6th, 2017 - 3:03 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset H0und and Share Time Lovers…Today as I was sniffing around the internet I ran across this story on the Daily Mail.

‘Lady is normally behind me following me around but sometimes she does go off on her own and then somehow, she becomes the leader for the sheep.

‘I don’t think I’ll be using her as our full-time sheep dog as we do have a collie for that but I think she’ll be able to help us out a bit.

‘I’m thinking of training her up to sit in the gate way of the paddock while we round the sheep up together.’

The Lily Book Tour Florida – Blog 9 of ___ Deerfield Beach Birthday Dinner!

November 5th, 2017 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and 60th Birthday Dinner Lovers…As I was saying in my last Florida blog we decided not to stick around in Palm Beach for my birthday dinner.  But, before we left we met the most interesting man.  He was walking a pug named Henry. We stopped and chatted a bit and he told us he is a Dog Walker in Palm Beach.

Him and his wife have Village Pet Pals – and have been walking and sitting dogs and cats since 2004.  It was so much fun talking to him and I had to ask if he had any bassets and he did!!!  I think he said 2 that he has been walking since they were puppies and are now 10 if I remember correctly.  I am going to send him and his wife a Lily Book…

He also gave us some really good tips on Saint Augustine!!!  It’s a few days away and we check out of our Villa Seaward D – Lauderdale by the Sea…

So we packed up Daisy Lynn and the Lily Books from Palm Beach and took off on our ocean front drive to find a birthday dinner!!!

Howl low Deerfield Beach!!!

Dog Friendly dining but the Wyndham has a 20 pound weight limit Whatever...

Dog Friendly dining but the Wyndham has a 20 pound weight limit Whatever…

We absolutely love Deerfield beach and it right between Palm Beach and Lauderdale by the Sea.  This is our table for my 60th birthday dinner.  OMDog!!!  It was perfect.

We had the best meal ever… This pic is a bit washed out that is why I went on google maps and found our exact table above.

60BDDearfieldbeach

OK, this is where we parked which was right across the street.  Seems like heaven for walking a dog – right???

Deerfield Beach Ocean Way, beach streetscape, paving, benches

NOT!!! – Turns out after doing some research about the area dogs are not allowed on the beach (no problem).  Dogs are not allowed on the grass next to the beach (wait what???).  Dogs are not allowed ON THE SIDEWALK NEXT TO THE GRASS!!! (ARE YOU FREAKIN’ KIDDING ME???)

No I kid you not.  The city has tons of rules regarding dogs which I generally love but Deerfield Beach takes it to a whole new level.  Unfortunately, we will not be spending any time or money in Deerfield Beach.

Luckily we were just having dinner and it was BASSETABULOUS!!! We would definitely stop there again for dinner.

More loving my 60th birthday later and all year long…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB walking in the grass and on the sidewalk next to the rainbow grass…:)

Dem bones dem bones and the angel…

November 1st, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and beggin’ for bones lovers…Well, Daisy Lynn and I did not go out beggin’ but we sure looked pretty cute!!!

IMG_3353

Can you even imagine if you saw this little angel at your door asking for a treat?  OMDog – she looked so cute in her wings.  It was kind of a nice outfit because it felt like a harness and she could move really good!

IMG_2083

I put on my mask and it really scared her so that won’t happen again.  Poor thing ran from me.  I felt horrible…

IMG_3379

It was a great night.  We had a pizza party with our BFF and watched Psycho…So much fun!

Oh, and we can’t forget my Halloween shower curtain.

IMG_2093

Those are red nail polish bloody hand prints.

More being traumatized by that Hitchcock scene forever later…Hope I did not do the same to Daisy Lynn by wearing that mask…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB eating rainbow candy…)

Chaps reporting from the rainbow bridge…

October 28th, 2017 - 3:03 pm KY Time

Howlow Fellow Basset Hound and theory for happy living lovers.  Last week Albert Einstein’s note on his theory for happy living sold for £1.18 MILLION pounds.

The Late Mayor Chaps Wayne Rudert reports from the rainbow bridge that these words are indeed correct…

ChapAutumRainjpeg

“A quiet and modest life brings more joy than a pursuit of success bound with constant unrest.” 1922

Einstein had recently been informed that he was going to receive the Nobel Prize for physics, and his fame outside of scientific circles was growing.

A Japanese courier arrived at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo to deliver the scientist a message but he had no change to give as a tip.

Einstein did not want the messenger to leave empty-handed, so he wrote him two notes by hand in German, according to the seller, a relative of the messenger.

The other reads: ”Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Often times Chaps will have similar musings from the rainbow bridge.  He likes to sit in quite contemplation as he ponders the reflections of his path and greets those who are making their own journey.

What a joyful boy…

More loving my genius boy hound later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB reporting from the entrance to bassethoundtown’s section:)

Is that some white fur above my left eye?

October 21st, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and not getting older lovers…What the What?  I was looking at Daisy Lynn the other day and noticed something…Is that some white fur above her left eye?

IMG_3317

“Momma said she refuses to call it grey”…

I friend called it “Wisdom Fur”… Isn’t that cute?

I just think 5 years old is too young for wisdom fur…don’t you?

More loving my forever young puppy later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB with lots and lots of rainbow wisdom fur…)
