Nothing feels so good as a refurbished gully blanket;)

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and refurbished Gully blanket lovers…Well, the day finally came when we thought the Gully was on it’s last short legs…It was so loved that it was fraying all around the edges and rips and tears were taking their toll.  The famous Gully was Emma’s way back staring in 2006.

Emma was never far from her Gully, especially when she went blind from hereditary  glaucoma so young…too young…

Here is the famous Gully, all folded up in the background with Chaps and Emma.  Chaps never ever took it from her.

Well, now we have Mayor Daisy Lynn Rudert and she has nested under the famous Gully for going on 7 years.  The thing was almost in shreds until our bassethoundtown seamstress Susan took it back to her shop and saved it!

OMGAWD, OMDOG, OMGULLY!!! – You would never know that it is not brand new.  Every detail was paid attention to…

Life sure is Gully Good!

More nesting later…Love Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chap and Emma ATB under rainbow Gullies)

Wilbert the basset hound finds safe dumped in Branksome Park Woods, UK

May 10th, 2019 - 6:06 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and Hounds in the news lovers…

As most of the residents know I love to follow the news on all things basset hound and when the story came up I just had to share!!!

Wilbert the basset hound finds safe dumped in
Branksome Park Woods, UK

A CANINE with a nose for crime sniffed out a safe dumped in a Poole woodland following a suspected burglary.

Wilbert the basset hound, who is nearly three years old, was being walked in Branksome Park Woods at around 11am on Saturday, March 16, when he made the surprising discovery in a bush.

The crime-fighting hound had managed to find a black square safe, which had its door taken off, and a number of clear plastic boxes, each one bearing a white label with a different quantities of cash written on.

Nine year-old Ari Semple was walking Wilbert at the time with his dad Stuart.

Ari said: “Wilbert started woofing at this bush and he found a safe that had loads of boxes that would have been filled with cash.

“It must have been stolen.”

“He was howling and we were like, ‘What’s going on?’ He was obsessed.”

Ari said Wilbert had been given a snack “and lots of cuddles” as a reward.

Following the discovery, Ari and his dad contacted the police who thanked them for reporting it and said they would be investigating.

Ari said while it was nice having a “detective dog”, it was “sometimes annoying” because Wilbert sniffed out Ari’s treats such as mint chocolate that he was trying to keep hidden.

Basset hounds have more than 220 million smell receptors, and the part of their brains responsible for the sense of smell is some 40 times that of a humans.

END OF ARTICLE…

Wow – what a story!!!  Can you believe howl cute Ari and Wilbert are?  Wilbert has some really fluffy fur for sure!!!

More searching the wires for basset hound news later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB admiring Wilbert’s expert detective skills…)

Bassethoundtown – backyard – 21 years in the making…

May 8th, 2019 - 6:06 am KY Time

Howllow fellow basset hound and sanctuary lovers.  Yes, over the course of 20 years we here at bassethoundtown have created our own sanctuary.  I am always amazed every backyard season howl the flora and fauna flourish in our patch of earth.

Howl do you like our new umbrellas?  OMGoodness – we just adore them.

It just is so tranquil and we love being the caretakers.  Dad, designed our treasure and treasure it we do in his honor.

This could probably win some kind of tranquility contest!  Never heard of one but I know it could!  hahaha

Here is one of Grandma and her grandbaby!  hehehe

Believe it or not we have not even started planting our flower garden yet.  So there were be lots more to share.

Then there was this…Dad looked high and low for the perfect purple Irises to plant and they come up every year in his honor.  This delicate bloom fell off of it’s stock the night before…

Yep, pretty sure he is still enjoying his labor of love…

More paradise later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB laying in rainbow Irises with Grandpa…)

May 2nd, 2019 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and MAY lovers…Can you even believe that we have made it to MAY and come out of the long and unforgiving winter?  Spring was OK but kinda cold but now we are talking MAY!!!  MAY means lilacs and fragrance!!!

By fragrance I mean the good kind, not the Daisy Lynn kind…(sorry not sorry Daisy Lynn…)

MAY means putting the screen in the office/rescue door and getting a load of the birds singing…

MAY also means opening up the backyard and being grateful for the lush life!!!

“Hurry up Mommy and take off these stupid winter chase lounge covers”

But for now it is back to work until Sunday when we do the full on back yard opening complete with brand new cool bassetabulous umbrellas!!!  We are so excited!!!

We hope all of the residents are enjoying their MAY as much as we are.  As a side note that is Emma in the background picture.  Oh goodness gracious howl I miss that girl.

More loving MAY later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB laying under new rainbow umbrellas…)
