Cutest picture ever? You be the judge!

August 22nd, 2008 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Cutest Picture Ever Lovers: I took this picture tonight when I got home. As you can see Chaps and Emma are laying on a small landing on my back porch. Emma had gone out first because she loves to lay in the sun, much to my chagrin. I monitor her bathing and make sure she does not bake too long. Anyway, Chaps missed her and sauntered out the dog door. You have got to see this, he struggled to positioned himself next to her and she gave way a bit with her leg hanging off the landing. The cutest part is that their tails are wrapped around each other. It is hard to see, but trust me, it was like they were holding hands. Soooooo sweet!

You have to click on this picture for the full benefit. I love watching them love each other.

More love watching later………Cat, Chaps and Emmers!

Who’s up for a road trip?

August 22nd, 2008 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Waddling Dog Lovers: Look at this hotel in Victoria, BC! It is named

The Waddling Dog Inn and it’s mascot is a basset hound!

Most people leave their furry friends at home while at work but there are some pets that just belong on the job. Take three-month-old John IV, for example, the newest basset hound at the Quality Inn Waddling Dog Hotel in Central Saanich.
Guests and staff have long been crazy about the bassets, which have served one after another as mascots of the hotel at the corner of Patricia Bay Highway and Mount Newton Cross Road. Staff cried when John III died a few months ago.
Now, silky-soft John IV, with a tail on automatic-wag, and who promptly rolls over for stomach rubs, is on duty 24-7, almost always at the front desk. With skin so loose you can grab a handful, this puppy specializes in cute. Flopping down (he does that a lot) on the lobby carpet, his long ears fold around him while his drooping eyes look upward.

Melanie Vallis cuddles John IV and says the basset hound mascots have attracted people and staff to the Waddling Dog.
Darren Stone, Times Colonist

“You wouldn’t believe how many people come here because of the dog,” says Melanie Vallis at the front desk.
Staff are creating a scrapbook of the dogs. “There are a lot of us who have worked here a long time and I don’t know, the Johns might be the reason for that,” she said with a smile.
John represents the theme of the 30-room, pet-friendly hotel and boosts staff morale, said Ross Borland, general manager. Human guests often volunteer to walk the hotel’s dog, especially in the summer. “He is really just a part of the whole ambiance.”

End of important part of article……….

OMG, could you imagine if we all showed up at the Waddling Dog! A girl can dream!

Emma did the cutest thing this morning!

August 21st, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Emma Lovers: I had to tell everyone about this because it is such a sweet observation. Emma started doing this after she went blind and it is just adorable.

About twice a week I clean basset ears, as we all probably do. Chaps hates it. I know this so I make a huge deal out of being very soft and gentle, rubbing his ears and cleaning the outside first. He gets lots of kisses on his large lips. Then I have to do the inner part. His ears are very clean so I barely have to go in. Anyway, he always whimpers. As soon as he whimpers, Emma will dash to his side, try to push me out of the way, and then start licking his face. OMG – it is the cutest thing ever.

I always end the session with Emma saving the day!

More Emma super hero stories later! Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

I got to the jewelery store, but not inside!

August 20th, 2008 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Gold Lovers: OK, here is the story. I went to the jewelery store after lunch. I had the beautiful ring that Tom from WI sent me. Here is a sneak peak.

As you can see, I placed the golden gift on Emma’s back as she was vacuuming the kitchen floor with her nose. That girl can find a crumb the size of an atom.

Anyway, when I got to the front of the store I noticed scads of other people waiting in line with gold. This is not the first time I have seen this happen. Times are ruff and tuff.

I could not wait in line because I had T-minus 12 minutes until the kids dinner time. For the love of God I cannot be late for that. So, it is back to the jewelery store, Friday at the latest.

When I got home the kids went wild with glee. It’s a good thing I ducked out of line! Emma was frantic. She can tell time.

The HopPers will have their money in a few short days! Thank you Tom.

More cashing in the gold later…….Love Cat, Chaps and Emma eating on time! Slurp!

Emma receives a special treat today in the mail!

August 19th, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and treat lovers: We have a very special friend that sends us treats. Her name is Maureen! She recently learned that Emma cannot hardly have any treats due to her compromised food allergies. However, Maureen consulted with her vet and found something special for our Emma!

OMG! this looks so yummy, I want to eat them. Well, truth be told, I did take a taste and they were so yummy! Sweet potato and berries!

Emma and Chaps were really drooling!

But since these treats were kind of special to Emma I took a few extra pictures of her!

She really went wild after this picture!

I think the heart on Chaps back said it all! We love Maureen and her treats…Slurp!

We love you Maureen! Also thanks for the extra treat for Chaps, the flossie! I will save it for him when Emma goes to the eye doctor next month. He will really love it! Plus he deserves it after getting slapped in the face!

More loving Maureen’s treats later….Cat, Chaps and sweet potato Emma!

Thank you Tom from WI!!!!!

August 18th, 2008 - 3:03 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Gold Rush Lovers: I hope Tom from WI is reading this because I wanted to let him know that I received his package with the gold ring enclosed. It is just a wonderful donation and I am going to make it to my jewelers on Wednesday. I will take a picture of the ring and then go cash it in for the Golden HoPpers! This gold rush has been soooooo much fun. Tom, please feel free to send me your e-mail and I will update you first. Or, keep checking the blog in the next few days for the official posting. I think it is going to bring in a nice amount. It is pretty heavy! Thanks again TOM!

Chaps got slapped by a toddler yesterday!!! OMG

August 18th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Poor Chaps Lovers: OMG, here we were minding our own business at the park yesterday.

We rest at this spot for a few minutes. We also get a drink of water. A family with 2 young children were a few feet away. I was keeping a close eye on the youngsters because I noticed the little boy toddler was a pistol. Sure nuff, he started toddling in our direction and I sat down with Chaps and Emma. Emma goes nuts around kids, so I had to kind of hold her down from jumping on the kids. Just as I was holding down Emma from the little girl, the titanic toddler wrapped around me and hauled off and slapped Chaps in the face!!!! WT#?

Here is the kicker. His Dad is kind of laughing (nervously) and says, “no, no Gabriel – that’s not how we treat doggies”!

FOR REAL ????????? The kid is named after an archangel ?????????????????????

Here is Chaps after the angel slapped him. He was so sad. He loves kids and I could just see the shock in his face.

You can see the play area right behind him. Man that kid was fast.

We are going to run in the opposite direction if we see that “little angel” coming!

Mr. Delicious – Poses for the Senior Houndsabound Contest!

August 17th, 2008 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Mr. Delicious Lovers:

Today Chaps and I had a photo shoot for his
Senior Houndsabound 2009 Calendar Contest Entry!

Yes, to his adoring fans, our boy hound is considered a senior. It just hits a Mom hard to see the gray coming in so strong. My Mom thinks that his gray hair is premature from worry. He is a worry wart. I cannot wait to see who else is in the contest to win a month featuring their Sr. Hound.

Do you like this picture of the Mayor?

Or this one? I can’t decide! Will you help us?

If you click on either picture you will get the HUGE version. You might just have a beauty blowout!

Thanks for your help,
