Howllo Fellow Hound and basset art work lovers: The artist, Pat Kennedy, who created my favorite piece of art in the world just sent me some more pictures of the piece in progress! Yesterday I did a blog on this masterpiece. Go a few posting down and read my first posting.

No MI waddle vids yet, but I found this guy!

May 18th, 2008 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and wanting to see MI vid lovers! I was thinking there would have been a few by now, but to no avail. However, I found this lonely guy walking on a beautiful path!

MI! Sup with no vids?

Slurp!

Hopefully more later…….Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. OK, I found one, but it was really short.

Chaos ensues! I wish it was longer!

Maybe more later….????

Guess what Chaps’ did this morning?

May 18th, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and clever hound lovers: I was watching Chaps and Emma this morning out back just wandering around. Today the weather was impeccable and the kids were really enjoying themselves.

This is a picture of my back area, but not taken today. It is just so you can see it.

backpatio.jpg

Anyway, Chaps was no where near Emma when I finished making their breakfast. She was pointed in the opposite direction of the steps leading up to me. So, when I announced breakfast, Chaps could have run in a straight line up the stairs, but instead he ran to Emma, bumped gently into her, danced a few steps so she could hear his nails, and then walked slowly in front of her, leading her up the stairs. Well, let me just say, how proud I am of our boy.

Chaps knows that eating is the most important thing in Emma’s life and it has become even more important since she went blind.

What a clever boy!

More clever boy news later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

May 17th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Great American Waddle Lovers:

You guys are going to have so much fun today and tomorrow. I cannot wait to hear all about it. I was searching YouTube to see if any past waddles were filmed and I was surprised not to find any. Strange indeed. I hope someone uploads something this year. I did find a nice interview video about michiganbassetrescue.org

Also, there is an important update on their website about the picnic today. 5-17-08 –

IMPORTANT UPDATE — THE SATURDAY AFTERNOON PICNIC HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE HOLIDAY RESORT INN SOUTHFIELD GRAND BALLROOM DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER!!!!! The picnic is still from noon to 5:00 as before. Please go to the
Holiday Inn website for directions to the hotel.

Memories – 1 of 2

May 16th, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and memory lovers. This blog posting and the next one are some memories of when Emma could see. I am getting over the shingles and deleting some pictures from IPhoto. None that are important, of course. However, I am running across a few you may like. This is one and the next blog posting is another. I am not going to make this into a memory lane type of thing. Just 2 pictures that you might like of Emma when she could see.

proud momma_2.jpg

It has been a solid week of shingles and let me tell you they are fierce and nasty! Please, educate yourself regarding this malady. According to what I have researched I am a bit young, but I was totally stressed out over Emma and stress is a reason they can present themselves.

Interestingly, a blurp was in USA TODAY about the dreaded shingles.
Folks, this can put you down for a month. Mine presented as a small blister under my left eyebrow. The only way I knew that it was shingles was because my Mom had shingles and it presented in the exact same place.

She did not catch hers and the virus and pox spread down her entire face and she was in horrible pain for a month. So, learn and know your body. I caught mine in the time frame it takes to make a difference. 72 hours. I still had trouble. But not near what I could have.

Memories! 2 of 2

May 16th, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Memory lovers:

I was just cleaning out my IPhoto and ran across this all time favorite. It was when Emma could still see us. IMG_0577.JPG

My Mom and I always said how dreamy she looked in this picture. My Mom has it in a small frame in her kitchen. I gave the framed picture to her right after this photo was taken.

We call it, DREAMY EMMA! She looks so happy. I miss her looking into my eyes. It’s a LOVE thing.

Kelly’s Florida Gold! Who knew?

May 14th, 2008 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Florida Gold Lovers! I am so touched at how many of you are sending in gold for the House of Puddles! With gas being almost as expensive as gold it is hard for us to donate to our favorite charities. Not so for Kelly, Oreo and Snoopy!
Oreo.jpg

Oreo – “Best as anyone can tell I am a boarder collie mix of some sort! My Mama rescued me from a shelter in north Florida 6 years ago”.

Snoopy.jpg
Snoopy – “Mama saved me from a man that was gonna send me back to the pound he adopted me from cause he said I was naughty…who me? Mama is pretty sure I am a Bagle (beagle/basset hound mix) cause I am too big to be a beagle and my ears aren’t long enough to be a basset!”
Look at this lovely grouping of gold! One piece in the grouping I found very nice, but more about that later.

Kelly_grouping.jpg

I hustled right off to my jewelery store to see what the pieces were worth. The jeweler tested the gold and viewed it through a loop and there were 10K and 14K pieces. There was also a beautiful black hills 10K gold ring with a blue topaz stone. Well, I could not take my eyes off that piece.

mybirthdaygift.jpg

The gold was worth 58.70! Wow, how bassetabulous is that? Pretty cool!

So, moving on to the ring! My jeweler and I researched it and determined that if the ring were new it could run as high as 100.00 or more. So, like I have done with previous rings I decided to put this ring in the
HOP boutique on my website, for 50.00 which all of the other rings are going for. (I still need to load 3 outstanding rings)

The scrap value of this ring would have been 28.50 for the 10K gold portion, the jeweler did not want the topaz. No way was I going to scrap this pretty little number!

When I got home, my Mom and Dad were looking at the flowers outside our home and I was telling them about the donation. They saw I was wearing the ring and asked me all kinds of questions.

birthday2.jpg

Guess who got her birthday gift early? Me, me, me, me! My Mom and Dad bought the ring for 50.00, for my birthday, exactly one month early! My Mom and Dad were totally jazzed that 100% of their 50.00 is going to the HOP and I am just over the moon. Look how it matches my HOP support bracelet!!! Don’t look at how bad my hand needs lotion!

Kelly, it is so strange how the world works. You donated the ring to support the HOP thinking it would be scrapped, and now it is a treasured gift from my Mom and Dad that I will alway love. Every time I look at it I will think of the elders at the HOP! How wonderful is that?

This will be recorded on the FirstGiving page as an offline donation so I can add a bit more detail to the description. I will send Marilyn a check for 110.00 on 5-15-08.

I love a black hills gold, blue topaz, happy ending. I also love Florida Gold!

More Later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. There was also a little charm with 3 tiny diamonds that I did not scrap. That will be in the HOP boutique as well very soon. I am waiting for a gold chain to come in that it fits. This item will be a stunner! I will keep you all posted. Kelly’s FL gold keeps on giving!
