Howllo Fellow Hound and Bald Guy and Gal lovers: Well, Kip, you have 6 hours left before you buzz off all of that silver hair!

kip_3.jpg

Kip has the following message for all bassethoundtown residents!

“Hi all,
We have a friend, Lynne, who has been dealt a tough hand. She is playing the cards with courage, dignity and a positive attitude. She truly is an inspiration. Even with all she is going through, she is still helping hounds by fostering and being a wonderful Mom to her furbabies and has also been a wonderful friend to the many of us that love her.
In her honor and to be by her side in her fight, I plan to shave my head and I will keep it shaved until Lynne gets well. and I know she will. All the drool and love coming her way and her positive attitude is what it takes.
Although for a lady it might not be what she wants, I have to say she looks darn good. I hope I look just an eighth that good.
I am also asking that in Lynne’s name you make a donation to The House of Puddles. There will be a Firstgiving Page set up. I will be doing a video of the hair coming off.
I take my cap off to you Lynne, and soon there will be nothing under that cap.
We love you!!!
Kip, Gus , Bonnie, Cat, Chappers and Emmers”

Well said Kippers! We will be unveiling the FirstGiving Page soon! Sooooooo Stay Tuned fellow town hounds and gather round our Lynne! Slurp

Today is “We Love Lynne Day”!

May 9th, 2008 - 9:09 am KY Time

jitcrunch_1.jpegHowllo Fellow Hound and “We Love Lynne Day” Lovers! Many of you maybe asking, what is this day all about? Well, let me just tell you. Bassethoundtown has a very dear friend named Lynne. She has a hound named Huckleberry Flood Hound. He is very famous indeed! He was just on the cover of the Bugler Magazine a few months ago!

Our Lynne has brain cancer and is fighting this terrible disease with courage, dignity and fortitude. At this point in her treatment, our Lynne has lost all of her hair. She is still as beautiful as ever but a little weak. Our Kip has stepped in to be a shoulder to lean on. He said, “if Lynne has to lose her hair, so do I!”

So, folks Kip will be shaving his head, tonight at 7:00 eastern standard time. I will be updating this blog all day long with breaking news and breaking photos. A YouTube video will follow, but not tonight!

kip_2.jpg

In Lynne’s name, Kip and I have set up a firstgiving page and all donations made will be in honor of Lynne and go towards the elders at the House of Puddles. I will be posting the link a bit later so please check back!

Kip it looks like you need a haircut! LOL

Jaclyn arrives at the GOLD trading post!

May 8th, 2008 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Trading Post Lovers: The wonderful items just keep flowing in from the mountain streams. This donation is from the Just wonderful Jaclyn!!! We cannot thank you enough my dear! jaclyn.jpg

These precious pieces brought 30.00 for the weight of the gold. As you can see from the picture there are 2 stones. One is a 14 point marquee diamond and the other is a smaller tanzanite earring stud. I elected to keep the stones for a charm I am filling for the House of Puddles. These gorgeous stones will be added to the charm. I feel I can get more for their value with this additional piece I am creating. It will be stunning so stay tuned for this bassethoundtown original. The 14 point marquee diamond will be a bassetabulous addition, not to mention the lavender tanzanite!

Thank you Jaclyn, I am heading over to the Firstgiving Page to update it with your donation.

You are one pawsome miner!

Emma had a great time yesterday!

May 8th, 2008 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Emma Lovers: The Joy Ride was magnificent. The weather was great and any time we get in the BHV without going to the vet is a huge party! Emma was so excited to hear people and she LOVES jumping on them. I warn the masses but many do not seem to mind. You have never seen so many smiles in all of your life. Our Emma’s back legs were coming right off the ground as she hurled her long body onto any human in her path. I was calling her the identified flying object.

Chaps entered the store like he had his own personal trampoline! He was so proud. He is always sure he is the reason everyone is where he is.

It was all I could take, to get them in and out of the store so the only picture I have is on the home page. I am soooooooo sorry. Many of Emma’s followers have e-mailed me today to ask how her Joy Ride went!

We had a Joyful blast. She had soooooo much fun. I need to get this girl out more. I know my mission and I am sticking to it!

More meeting the masses later! Cat, Chaps and Emma, Miss Congeniality! Slurp!

Tally Ho – Norine Noonan. PhD – glaucoma report

May 7th, 2008 - 8:08 pm KY Time

PAGE UPDATE AS OF 5-6-09 – OK, I just got my Tally Ho in the mail and I was not surprised to see the article entitled, Health and Research by Norine Noonan, PhD.

My inner basset says, “Birds of a feather flock together””

Emmers is going for a joy ride!

May 7th, 2008 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Joy Ride Lovers: When I get done with work today I am going to take Emmers and Chappers on a joy ride! I know this will perk up our girl! Anytime we get in the BHV (basset hauling vehicle) and do not go to the vet, it is a Joy Ride! I think a few new toys are in order. My friend Debbie suggested a toy with more texture to engage Emma’s sense of touch. I love that idea!

Melynda had some good ideas as well. She will absolutely love visiting with people at the toy store. I do need to keep her more active.

Emma, grab your Emma_s_4th_B_Day.jpgspring bonnet! Mommy will be home soon. Shopping always perks a gal up! Slurp!

Emma seems so depressed…

May 6th, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and loving Emma Lovers:

Our Emma seems so depressed as of late. I talked to my vets about it and they said that dogs can become depressed just like humans. Our Emma is very lethargic. I try my best to keep the mood upbeat! I feel I do a pretty good job. I just know that Emma hates being blind. I am getting worried about her. Do you think that a dog going blind could drive them crazy? Emma has only just turned 4. Please just put yourself in Emma’s place. She went blind at 3 years old. She was the life of the party. Guarding the window, making sure I knew everything she saw.

I get a fair amount of folks telling me she will be OK, and their hound went blind, but they were Seniors. I am just aching for her. She is so sad. We had a hard day today. The birds she so loved to watch are singing and the the flower planting is going on. She laid on the couch with her back turned to me.

I am crushed. Just crushed for her. I know there is nothing I can do, and thank God she is with me. She does not understand what happened. She is still a young vibrant hound.

Miners, Kip and Lisa Massett strike gold!

May 5th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and panning for gold lovers: Kip and Lisa sent in the contents of their pans about a week ago. I am just getting all of their totals together. Lisa’s item was too nice to scrap so that meant I had to add it to the HOP boutique on my website! I have just now done that and I must tell you this chain is super sweet! Here is the link to view it:

Lisa Massett’s chain in the HOP boutique

Please view this link because this is one golden opportunity to purchase a bassetabulous chain for the golden hoppers! Just stunning! Thank you soooooooo much Lisa. Your donation is totally pawsome!

Kip also sent two gold bands that brought in 45.00 dollars. Here are the pictures.

Kiplargering.jpg

Kipsmallring.jpg

As you can see, they are a bit beat up, but that does not matter one bit when you are turning in your gold. Gold is at a record high and if we all turn in our bits and pieces it all adds up for the House of Puddles.

Please keep in mind, if you send me something that is in good condition, and after consulting with my jeweler, and we both agree, your item/s will go into the
HOP Boutique on my website. Folks, I can always scrap these items. But for now, if we can get more, I am MORE, than willing to take the time and showcase, market, and sell these items for MORE than scrap value!

OK, I am now on my way over to my Firstgiving Page to add the Massett donation.

Please stay tuned, because Kip is starting his own Firstgiving Page for the HOP. We love you Lynne!
