Emma had a 9 week post op check today for her back surgery!

May 22nd, 2009 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Checking on the Post Op Report for Emma Lovers! It has been 9 weeks since Emma had her hemilaminectomy. That means she had a disc removed. Emma has the will of an Iron Woman and she was going to get to the finish line with flying colors. The surgeon was amazed and thrilled with her progress. Of course Grandma and I were beaming with pride because we are working like crazy with her. I thought my dear readers would enjoy seeing how we get Emma into the Element.

This little ramp is right outside of my front door. I had to move a rock to make it lower for our girl. Emma knows perfectly where this ramp is. It took her one time. As she gets into position to move down the ramp, I will tap it so she can hear where the middle is. I am at the bottom and Grandma is at the top. OT – Those are my Stella Doras next to the ramp. I think I need to thin them out?

img_1646

Then Grandma walks Emma across the front yard towards the neighbors driveway. It is a perfect place for loading Emma.

img_1649

This is also how we leave the house for a walk. This way she avoids all steps. After her first time going this way she was a pro. She is just brillant. The employees at the vet office were swarming her. I kid you not. They took her off to weigh her and I peaked out and about 6 gals were petting her. She was in heaven. One of the gals said that Emma might be gone awhile because she had another hallway to walk down and greet her admirers.

This is good shot, it shows you how I set up the ramp into the Element. She basically has no stress to her back at all.

img_1650

Emma received a entire new set of exercises from her Physical Therapist. My goodness, if I did everything on the list I would have to quit my job and sell Lily books on the street corner. This set is very involved but very important. OK – maybe I just need to get up a bit earlier – Dog Forbid!

img_1652

It was a great day for the Rudert Family! Especially for Emmers – one small order of McDonald’s fries, hold the salt!

More crossing finish lines later……..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Chaps has a down the middle part!?!

May 22nd, 2009 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and how does your hair part lovers?

I find this very odd. Chaps has a part in his fur. His fur perfectly parts down the middle of his neck. It is deep as well. The Mayor has very thick hair.

img_1626

When we get up in the morning, I go back to the office and open the door so Emma can go out without going out the dog door. I am dreading my electric bill this summer with the AC cranking. Anyway, I am so busy in the morning that I cannot watch her every move and I open the door for her.

So I walked back to check on the kids and I saw this sight. Chaps enjoying his morning with his perfect down the middle part! Is that not the cutest thing? He is such a natural!

Winnie’s tummy tuck was a bit more complicate than expected…

May 21st, 2009 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Winnie of HOP Lovers: I was just getting caught up on the news wires that I follow on line….Twitter, boards, forums, blogs, alerts, and more. I want to keep my dear readers updated. I just saw this report on Winnie, the poor, poor gal who had so many litters and who is now at House of Puddles. Marilyn states,

“The vet said there was way to much skin to just take a little out and she would have had to cut through the mammary glands. Then she found what she believes to be a mast cell tumor, so she decided it would be better to give her a full mastectomy. The tumor was sent out for analysis. She also said she could tell from the way needles went through her skin and how her uterus almost fell apart during the spay that she had been fed a very poor diet, extremely low in protein. So I’m to give her extra chicken or hamburger with her regular dinner (poor Winnie, think she’ll survive that?). But she won’t be having any more puppies, nor will she be posing in a bikini anytime soon.”

Winnie is in the best hands possible. We will all wait for our next update.

What in the world is Chaps thinking?

May 20th, 2009 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wondering what Chaps is thinking lovers!

I was plowing through some of my 7000 pictures on my computer and this picture in particular caught my eye. I went back to it and began to wonder…….

What was Chaps thinking?????????????

Here is what I think he is thinking……

Thank you Virginia for the gold rings!

May 19th, 2009 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset hound and Virginia Oliveira Lovers! Virginia sent the Mayor some really cool gold rings for the Gold Rush. Some were 14K and some were 18K! Here is picture of them.

img_1582

I was thrilled with the total the rings brought in! 100 dollars! It was a little less, but my jeweler gave me 5 crisp 20 dollar bills! What is so cool about this donation is that Virginia has a special place in her heart for Ricky of HOP!

20060513_ricky

Guess What? Ricky is getting his teeth cleaned today! What a timely donation! Virginia, your shiny gold rings will go to make Ricky’s teeth sparkle.

20060430_ricky

YEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAA!

I will be mailing Marilyn a check for 100 dollars tomorrow in honor of Virginia and Ricky. Of course I don’t want to send cold hard cash through the mail.

The GOLD RUSH firstgiving page has now raised 8,296.65!!!!!!

PAT, PAT, PAT! (That’s the sound of me patting Chaps back) hehehehe

More loving gold and Ricky later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

Eye brow whiskers?

May 19th, 2009 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset hound and Eye brow whisker lovers: Is that what they are called? Eye brow whiskers? This morning I was laying in bed with Emmers and the sun was hitting her in just the perfect manner that I could see every eye brow whisker she had. It reminded me of when she had her eyes removed and I was frantic with the doctor about making sure she kept her eye brow whiskers. I knew she was going to need them more than ever.

img_1580

You have to click the picture to see them clearly. The whiskers are right above her scar. I was so afraid that the doctor would need that skin to seal her shut. I kind of forgot all about that until this morning. I waited until Emma when down for her morning nap and snapped this picture.

Something so small as eye brow whiskers can really make a Tuesday special. I love that about Tuesdays.

I was a sophomore in high school and probably danced for miles to this song, not to mention driving for miles to this song. Love, love, love it.
