Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Paul update lovers: Well, today is the day. I just was told that I can have Paul at 4:00 today. The chances are slim to none that he will be collected.

From the pound we are driving to Harrison, OH to drop Paul off at Outlaw Basset Hound Rescue. I am very excited to see the facility.

I bet Paul will be as well!

Just 4 more hours Paul and we are outta there!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and baby robin lovers: Well, I think today is the day that the babies are going to fly away and it is none too soon for Chaps.

Chaps is none to happy about all of this. I have to keep the dog door in because at any time one of the babies could fall on the porch and the Mayor might like a little snack.

The Mayor has been using the front potty area. Hang on I might try to get another picture. It looks like one of them is flapping.

Nope – false alarm.

I will have a Paul update soon. The pound does not open until 10:00. This has been a really long 7 days.

Hopefully Paul will be flying his coop today with me!

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Paul update lovers:

5-3-09 – If you are coming here from the Drool there is all kinds of information about Paul. In a nutshell, Paul will be held until 5:00pm Monday night. By Law, the owners have that long to pick him up. If they don’t, I will pick him up and transport him to Outlaw Basset Hound Rescue in Ohio. More blog postings to follow!

I went to the pound this morning to visit our Paul. God knows he could use a bit of human kindness. His owners don’t even have the guts to tell the shelter what they are going to do. The shelter said it happens all of the time. I guess if your dog winds up in the pound you are not the greatest caretaker in the world. I know mistakes happen, I am not counting that. It’s these types who just don’t give a rat’s butt. They leave us to pick up the pieces and what sad pieces they are.

Hounds like Paul become pieces of every one’s heart. He was so good today. He is the perfect gentlehound.

Paul was very concerned. He always had a worried look on his face and what I would consider maximum panting. It was not hot out at all. He was just nervous.

We spent about 2 hours together. I took him for a long walk which he loved. He is a very young 8 and just stepped lively then entire way. He pulled a little bit on the leash, but nothing like Chaps and Emma do. I would say he is about 45 pounds.

Paul is covered in freckles mostly on his chest and paws. Here he is looking at a cat (out of picture). He never barked at the cat. He only whimpered a bit, like he wanted to play.

Here is his other side! This side is a bit more frecklier! He has really cute haunch areas! LOL

We had a great time sitting at the front door and having our love session. While we were watching the world go by a group of really cool girl scouts came to drop off a donation. They were earning badges for their goals.

Wow they had 2 van loads of stuff. Paul thought the best donations were all of the pets he got!

Well – Paul sure had a good time and so did I. I actually met a few area rescue workers and made some good contacts. One of the gals went to my High School about the same time I did and volunteers for Dogs Deserve Better! I was very impressed. She was there pulling a German Shepherd that was chained most of her life. Those were 2 very sweet girls.

Well Paul did not want me to go as you can imagine. But, let’s all hope for the best that his owners do not collect him. This guy really deserves to go to OutLaw Basset Hound Rescue in Harrison OH! This rescue has stepped up and is going to take our Paul! I am so excited to work with them.

You would not believe how gentle Paul takes treats. He has such a beautiful soul.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hounds and Paul update lovers……

Well, the poor guy is still at the pound. The owner knows he is there and did not come to get him yesterday. The gal I talked to said there is no rhyme or reason as to who or who won’t pick up their dog. She said that she has taken many a call from someone in shear panic, saying they will be right over and they never show up.

We will have no idea until Monday night when be becomes ward of the pulling rescue. The owner has until 5:00pm Monday night to claim our Paul.

I am going to go visit him today. That’s the least he deserves. Grandma has a toy for him and I have some treats. It’s a nice day so I will take him for a long walk, or if he does not want to walk too much, I will take him for a long belly rub.

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Paul in the Pound Lovers!

Well, I have an update and things may be looking up for our Paul. I talked to the manager at the shelter and she said that the owner’s friend called about Paul. It’s all very sketchy and what I could gather through the barking was that Paul might get picked up. She was not quite sure what was going on. OK? I am kind of hoping he does not get picked up because the manager also said that she got an e-mail from a basset hound rescue in Harrison Ohio that would collect him at the end of his 7 day hold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is called Outlaw Basset Hound Rescue!

Huh? Could it be that a new basset hound rescue was dropped in my own back yard? It says on their website,

“Outlaw Basset Rescues’ main facility is located in
Harrison, Ohio on a 5.5 acre farm. Here, the Bassets
relax from their hardships while they receive excellent
medical care and are assessed for adoption. ”

What? They have a FACILITY? OK, I can barely swallow the lump is so big in my throat. Harrison is 45 minutes at best from me. How can this be?

I have a call and e-mail into Rose. I love that name. Is Rose my new best friend?

Ok – I have to go splash cold water on my face.
