Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and shoe mystery lovers! This is just the oddest thing ever. I am trying to unravel a real life head scratcher! THE MYSTERY OF, WHO CHEWED THE SHOE!?!
OK, here are the facts and nothing but the facts:
1.) I was gone most of the day yesterday. I “play bridge” with 3 friends. I left at 10:00ish wearing these shoes, minus the teeth marks………

Grandma was in charge of the kids so they were very happy.
2.) I arrived back home at approximately 4:00ish. The kids had been fed and were very happy. A severe storm was approaching Northern KY and Chaps was getting ready to freak out.
3.) I changed clothes and left the shoes in question laying in my bedroom, on the floor.
4.) The storm lasted for most of the night and Chaps and I logged about 3 miles of walking in the house. It seems to be the only thing that calms him. We were both exhausted.
5.) During storms Chaps likes to go into my bedroom and try to climb on top of things. He also likes to nibble on various items like clothes, pillows, or toys. I cannot recall if I had the door to the bedroom shut. It would have been very odd not to have done that because I don’t like him climbing on things.
6.) The shoes in question were walking around my friends house and she has cats.
7.) Chaps, to my knowledge has never chewed a shoe.
8.) Emma has chewed almost everyone of mine but not for years.
9.) I never saw Emma in my room, but she is pretty sneaky.
10.) I did see Chaps go in my room this morning.
11.) I was in and out of my room several times today, and never saw the chewed shoe until about an hour ago?
12.) When I picked up the shoe, Chaps was looking at me. I said his name in a really long low voice and said, “Did you chew Mommy’s shoe?” Immediately his tail went between his legs and he sulked away. May not prove anything more than him not liking the way I said his name. We all know how delicate he is.
A closer look at the evidence……

They are not talkin………

So, who do you think is the guilty party and chewed the shoe? I am leaning toward Emma because past behavior is a great predictor of future behavior. REMEMBER THIS?
More wondering later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
