Emma gets a new office gully!

December 4th, 2010 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wondering what the heck a gully is lovers! Well, let me fill you in. A gully is a security blanket. The word gully came into the Rudert vocabulary way back in the early 1950s. It was what my older sister called her security blanket. Her gully. Of course the word stuck!

It is so hard to find a small comfortable gully and we looked and looked. Get this, we should have looked in our own basement! About 6 years ago Grandma and Grandpa had bought me something called a lap duvet with matching foot comforters. It is a mini goose down comforter for your lap with comforters for your feet. I had never used the set for some reason???? I had put it away in my storage closet for some unknown reason, until today!

Grandma found it and came upstairs and said, “Could this be an office Gully for Emma?” I reeled around in shock because we are always on the look out for Emma Gullys…..

Grandma laid it out on the office bed….Chaps looked on.

She spread it out. The true test was if Emma could flip her new gully over her head and get underneath it on her own. That is what she loves to do!

She boarded the new gully within seconds. To her right is the office heat vent. Perfect for hibernation!

She immediately wanted to crawl underneath it. We waited with baited breath…

No problem at all. Grandma kind of helped her but not much. Chaps was all, “What’s up?” Even though he hates gullys.

Then we had our answer as the Mayor looked on….

You would have thought that Emma won the gully lottery. Well, I guess she did. She crawled under that goose down lap gully and went into major hibernation mode. It was sooooo cute.

I tried to link to the product that came from Restoration Hardware but it has been discontinued. I was so mad. I was going to buy a few more just to have more hand.

DISCONTINUED…..

We were all so happy today that we found the perfect gift right at home for the perfect girl who loves a perfect warm nap.

Ghost Hounds……

December 2nd, 2010 - 8:08 am KY Time

Howllo fellow basset hound and ghost hound lovers…..I love the day or two after a toe nail trim. The hounds pad around so silently…just like ghost hounds! It only lasts for a few days and then it is back to click, click, click. I love ghost hound days for some reason. It cracks me up when they sneak up on me;)

I took the kids to the vet yesterday to get the usual done….

Toe nail trim
Ears cleaned
Rear end maintenance

Plus Chaps was having some problems with conjunctivitis. Poor boy.

I also got both kids weighed.

Chaps weights 65.5 pounds. That is 5 pounds below his show dog weight! He sure doesn’t look skinny. He looks really good.

Emma weighs 50 pounds. Now that seems too skinny. But my vet said no. Then I found this picture of Emma from back in 2006.

She looks huge! What a difference 4 years makes.

I am having a blog block…..

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Blog Block Understanders….

I was wondering if I should share?

I have been running into to things this holiday season that I always turned to my Dad to. Or in other words he always just it did for me. Like Dads do…..

For example, howl the holiday lights work outside. He had an entire timing system set up.

I don’t know howl that works.

I found myself crying in the basement today missing my Dad. Not about the timing system but just missing him and his Dad ways.

Grandpa made sure I could handle it. He told me howl to way back when he found great electricians. I have the same guys that installed what Grandpa designed coming over tomorrow. They are nice brothers that my Dad found for me. I know that now. The brothers are great.

Thanks for listening residents….

More Christmas lights later…Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
