Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and another YouTube video lover:
I disagree a bit with this main woman talking. I don’t think bassets are lazy. The video is cute, but I think the interview is a bit off. What do you think?
I think that a basset hound can be just as active as any other dog. It totally depends on the human as well. If you sit on the couch, so will they. If you go for a walk, so will they. Basset Hounds can actually out distance a marathon runner.
Their activity level totally depends on us.

Greata video! I disagree that Bassets are “hard to train.” I think Bassets are deep thinkers and they take time to evaluate every situation before they decide what to do. Bassets have opinions and think before they act! I know quite a few people that need to learn that trick! That is why Bassets are such SMART, INTELLIGENT animals.
I loved the video! If bassets did what hunters demanded, like a retriever, the hunters wouldn’t eat;) Hard to train, stubborn? Well, I prefer to call them independent thinkers;) Let’s not forget that it is the very job of a basset to go with his nose and flush out those wascally wabbits! If I were in the wildneress with only a retriever and a basset, I could rely on the basset to keep me from starving;) And, although champion sleepers, they are also not what I would characterize as lazy (mine can certainly outrun me any day!)–of course, that’s not saying much for my running skills;)…

Bassets may not be the whitest eggs in the carton, but they are wonderful. We have had both smart and bullheaded hounds. We are now on our 9th hound. Our Miss Tee was by far the smartest of the group, but I think hounds are the most loyal.
Awesome Video, Lulu would totally blow any of those hounds out of the water, especially if I was running with her headless and legless Michael Vick chew toy.
