Evelyn Leavens – Day Trippin’ with The Mayor Daisy Lynn Rudert

May 1st, 2014 - 12:12 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Day Trippin’ with Daisy Lynn Lovers…I was looking for a header image for the sub-blog called Day Trippin’ with The Mayor Daisy Lynn Rudert…

This is an image that the late Evelyn Leavens sold to me along with the copyright.  I just love it.  I think it will fit perfectly to highlight Daisy Lynn’s Day Trips.

More looking forward to lots and lots of day trips to come…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB with Evelyn day trippin’ with Boswell…)

Saturday in the park…

April 26th, 2014 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Saturday in the park lovers…Grandma, Daisy Lynn and I are going to explore as many parks as we can.  We adore going to parks as many of the residents know.

Today we went to Fernbank Park, one of the Great Parks of Hamilton County, Ohio.

We rated it – 5 paws up!

FB1

Just look at this extra wide walking path that winds along the Ohio River…

FB2

Grandma pointed out today that it is a huge part of the Mayor’s job to report about the parks in bassethoundtown to her constituents and to bring public awareness to the park systems in every town.  These are truly a treasure to behold.

FB3

Look howl a hound can rest and soak in the spring breezes…

FB4

We all wear pedometers and try to get 10,000 steps a day.  This is a number, by all accounts, is a goal we should all try to reach!  We bought ours at Walmart for about 6.00!

So lets get all of our legs moving!

All the way to the dog water fountain!  Gotta love that! (see my pedometer?)

FB5

Believe me…you will sleep sound after 10,000 steps!

FB6

More loving parks and 10,000 steps a day later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB enjoying the many rainbow parks…)

Every girl needs an Easter Bonnet! For Sure…

April 20th, 2014 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Easter Bonnet Lovers…Before Grandma, Daisy Lynn and I took off for our Day Trippin’ adventure Grandma snapped the perfect Easter Bonnet shot!  Can you even believe howl cute this is?

DLEB1

Then we took off to show off!  LOL – We took off the bonnet and headed to Miami Whitewater Forest in Cincinnati.  Wow, wow, wow!

This state park is a jewel in the Hamilton County, Ohio park system.  The walking trails are paved, wide and flat.

DLEB2

Look behind me.  It was like entering a wonderland!

DLEB3

It was really a magical day filled with basset hound vibes everywhere!!!

I spotted a basset hound almost immediately…

His name is Clifford! I invited him to the bassethoundtown walking club event on May 4th, 1:00pm.

DLEB4

Clifford was rescued from Ohio Basset Hound Rescue and just a fine elder gentlehound.

Then as we went down the pathway we met a man who fell in love with Daisy Lynn.  His 13-year-old basset girl was at home.  She was rescued from Guardian Angel Basset Hound Rescue!

Next up…a woman and her family stopped us to say that knew the woman who runs Outlaw Basset Hound Rescue right up the road from where we were.  What a set of circumstances!

But then the best was right around the corner…an elderly man with a cap that said MARINE CORP.  He was somewhat unsteady on his feet with a big walking stick but was going to make it over to Daisy Lynn come hell or high water.  He immediately said, “I had a basset hound for 10 years”.  He went on to tell us of  the hound’s wonderful rabbit hunting skills and the delicious stew he would make. He actually called it by its correct name, hasenpfeffer.  I swear I saw a glint in his eye.  He then told me I should let Daisy Lynn do some hunting.  “Just turn her loose and she will circle around with the rabbit”, and then he said I can shoot the rabbit.  Can you image me, letting this hound, with the Easter Bonnet on, off leash to hunt down a rabbit so I can shoot it?  I had to giggle a little.  If he only knew – hehehe

DLEB1L

He was such a great man with cherished memories of his beloved basset.  I hope we see him again!

More loving Easter Bonnets and basset memories later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB chasing bunnies but never catching them…)

Spring Sunday Stroll…

April 13th, 2014 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Spring Sunday Stroll Lovers…Our weekend of blossom blooming viewing continued today.  We made our way over to the Boone County Kentucky Arboretum with a picnic lunch…

Then we took off on a three mile walk around the ever changing gardens…

DLBCA2

These areas were in full bloom much to our delight! The yellow magnolias are almost ready…

DLBCA3

We were down the path under the trees having a photo shoot.  Everyone walking by told us howl beautiful Daisy Lynn looked!

DLBCA4

DLBCA6

Such a peaceful and serene day…

Look at this person who was laying in a tree hammock in the woods!

DLBCA5

Then to cap off the day, Grandma bagged the money shot!

DLBCA1

She calls it…“A Daisy Among the Daffodils”

More thinking this picture could win a contest later…Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB and on our stroll…)

Ault Park (Cincinnati, OH) Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom…

April 12th, 2014 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Cherry Blossom Lovers…OMDog, OMDog, OMDog…

Grandma, Daisy Lynn and I had the gracious gift of visiting this magnificent park today.

Today when the Cherry Blossoms were at peak.  This is Ault Park, Cincinnati, Ohio…

There is a Cherry Tree forest that lines the Observatory Street entrance that is beyond magic.

Daisy Lynn and I were sitting on a field of yellow flowers that dotted the landscape.

DLAP1

It was so peaceful and everyone was silent and in awe as we all felt so special today…

DLAP2

The sunlight was turning everything pink!  It was just so powerful…

DLAP3

This park is about 224 acres and we only ever scratch the surface when we visit.  As you might imagine we spent most of our time in awe of the Cherry Blossom Forest.

DLAP4

224 acres of vistas and breath taking fun!

DLAP5

More loving day tripping with Daisy Lynn later…Love, Cat, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB with cherry blossoms landing on their fur…)
