We tried our luck at the County Fair and now we share!!!

September 2nd, 2017 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and County Fair Lovers.  Grandma and I had so much fun deciding what to enter in the county fair this year.  We had such a great time last year!  So, here goes…

We entered 7 photos, 1 3/D art project, and 2 food items…

IMG_2777

We worked on another rock art piece as the 3/D art.  We named it Kentucky Love and it came out really good.

IMG_2765

I still had to clean up some of the glue surrounding the rocks and it looked even better when we entered it.

These are our Hot Drop Jelly Cheese Biscuits.  OMDOG they are so good.  I could eat an entire basket of them.  High hopes for sure!

IMG_2779

Then we came up with the magnificent Hot Taste of Love – Macadamia Nut Candy Hearts!!!  Have you ever, in your live long days, seen something so cute?  Well, they taste just a cute!!!  Come one come all judges and delight in these delectable delicacies…

IMG_2783

Here are our photos plus I entered a Lily Greeting Card from my Collection in the computer art category.

IMG_2790

Now we play the waiting game.  The Judges have finished their job and we find out tomorrow howl we FAIR!!!

More loving dreaming of ribbons later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB winning lots of rainbow ribbons…)

You are invited to our ECLIPSE party!!!

August 21st, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Eclipse Lovers…Yes, you are invited to our very first ever eclipse party!  It started out with our eclipse candle holder.  Isn’t it cute?  You put a little candle behind it and the rays glow.  So apropo!!!

IMG_2740

We decided early on that we were not going to view the eclipse with those paper glasses.  Just made us a bit too nervous so we did the viewing on TV…Plus, not trusting that Daisy Lynn would not look up we stayed inside her herz…

IMG_2717

It was fun to see the first version live in Oregon…

IMG_2720

Daisy Lynn was very interested in the total eclipse of her heart – EXTRA TREATS!!!

IMG_2722

We were at the grocery store yesterday and decided to pick up some local, fan favorite BBQ.  It’s called Eli’s.  Of course I had to doctor it up and make it better than it already is…

IMG_2726

If you didn’t know, Hopkinsville KY, (4 hours from Bassethoundtown) was in the main path of the total eclipse so that was our main attraction.  Here it is…

Bassethoundtown only achieved 91% totality…It got weirdly darkish but you can’t tell from this picture…

IMG_2731

Right on schedule at 2:29, a glass of wine is fine!!!

We had a wonderful party and can’t wait til the next eclipse – I think they said it is in 2024.

More loving BBQ and totality later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB under a rainbow eclipse…)

The Lily Book Tour in Florida – Blog 2 of __

August 10th, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and traveling with us through Florida Lovers.  Not sure howl many blog posting this will take because we sure did a lot!!!  We got up Sunday morning and decided to just drive around and get familiar with Lauderdale by the Sea.  This little town is right next door to Fort Lauderdale and about an hour away from Palm Beach.  Grandma and Grandpa used to come here a lot so Grandma knows all the ends and ours….

But first…

We went and took a look at our back yard for the week…

IMG_9757

What a way to start your day…Hey, hey, hey!

Before we walked around we decided to drive around.  Interestingly enough we wound up in Palm Beach our first day.

This is a spectacular drive and one not to be missed if you can make it happen.

From Commercial Boulevard, head east until you hit the Pier, then turn left onto N Ocean Drive (a.k.a.: A1A). From here amaze yourself and enjoy the beauty north to Palm Beach.  It takes about an hour or more depending on if you stop or have lunch.

A1A from LBTS to Palm Beach

It was Sunday so we breezed up there and the views…OMDog the cities you pass through and the views of the ocean past the zillion dollar mansions is so pretty.  Of course we passed Mara Lago.  Thankfully Trump was not there.

Palm Beach was sleepy and shut down so we just pulled right up and parked on Worth Avenue.

IMG_9765

This shopping at its high dollar extreme.  It is Wayyyyyyyyyyyy over our reach but we love the window shopping.  We decided to come back in a few days and check it out.  The drive alone is worth a second trip…

IMG_9770

Snapped this on the way home…

winterbeachhouse

Just a winter beach house…

Speaking of which – Here is our little beach house…

Happy hour anyone?

IMG_2018

The balcony was all glass so Daisy Lynn could really watch over the residents at our satellite location.

See that path?  It is one of the public paths and had a fair amount of traffic aka dogs!  hahahahaha –

Daisy Lynn was in heaven…

IMG_2013

Yes, we all were…

More loving our Villa by the Sea later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB laying on rainbow beach towels…)

After 2 years of planning & researching-Villa Seaward D!!! Florida Blog 1 of __

August 5th, 2017 - 10:10 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Lauderdale by the Sea Lovers…Well, we finally made it to our Florida home away from home for a week of Work and Pleasure.  Of course the Lily Book Tour was first on our minds but that means it was time to hit the hippest and coolest places on the Galt Ocean Mile and beyond for the tour!!!

But first – Villa SeaWard D!!!!

IMG_2020

Villa D is one of 3 condos that are for rent in this building.  There are 4 condos, 1 belongs to the owner, (lucky duck).  Yep, but we were the lucky ones for the next 7 days at our ocean front Villa.  Yes, Oceanfront and we even have our own exclusive, private beach.  Dogs are not allowed on the main beach so we got Daisy Lynn her own private beach.  Yes, you heard me right…hehehehe

VSprivatebeach

More about this later…we have a week!!!

We just unloaded the Basset Hauling Vehicle and by that time we were ready for happy hour and dinner so we set off in search of dog friendly dining.  BINGO –

Mulligans is a 10 minute walk, (for people without basset hounds about a 5 minute walk;)

mulligan-s-beach-house

mulligans_outside

You walk right up and park yourself for the some of the best food of our trip.  Of course the bombardment of Daisy Lynn was non stop if she was on the outside of the table so we tried to keep her over out of view so we could eat!!!

Unfortunately, we did not get any pictures of us here.  That’s OK, you get the drift from these I found online.

So, after dinner we made our way home.  To unpack and settle in.  Tomorrow is Sunday.  The day will plan itself…

More loving a sweet summer stroll home later – Villa D, (as in Daisy Lynn) hahaha…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB loving exclusive private rainbow beaches…)

Daisy Lynn took us on a picnic this weekend – Lake Isabella Park – Hamilton County OH

August 2nd, 2017 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and Lake Isabella Lovers…I had to share this stunning picture of our very own Mayor Daisy Lynn Rudert on her picnic blanket at

Lake Isabella Park in Hamilton County OH.

DLpicnicblanket

It was just the perfect setting for this glorious picture.  The sunlight mottled and the weather even had a crispness in the air coming off the lake.

It is only about 25 minutes from bassethoundtown main location and very near to where nephew Romeo lives…

Good thing we had finished our lunch when 2 pit bulls showed up with teenagers that could not handle them.  We packed up and left.  Better safe than sorry.  I don’t trust that type of dog or the owners who clearly cannot control them.

LIDL4

We still had a perfect day…

More loving the lake later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB very safe…)

Have a nice day fellow residents!

July 25th, 2017 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset hound and good day lovers…What a nice morning we are having!  We woke up to 60 degree weather so we flung all of the windows open.

Daisy Lynn Child

Daisy Lynn arranged this vase of flowers for her Grandma!  Can you see Daisy Lynn on the vase?  We commissioned this from a friend and fellow artist.  I will do a more detailed blog on it later but for now…

Have a great day!

More loving the windows open in the July later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB with the windows always open…;)

Savannah, GA – Blog 4 of 4 – The Lily Book Tour – “You win the prize”!

July 23rd, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

At the end of this blog are blogs 1, 2 and 3 of Dog Friendly Savannah…Please read them in order for all of the best information…

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and wrapping up Savannah Lovers…Such a great city full of enchantment.  The people watching is amazing and the people love to be watched as they stroll and dress for the evening.  Everyone sits in the square and sips on a beverage.  It is just so chill.  So, after our afternoon bite to eat we went back over to the East Bay Inn and relaxed before dinner.

IMG_1959

In every place we stayed the first thing I did was to find a chair and push it up to the bed so Daisy Lynn could jump up.  Interestingly, these Inns have really high beds but we did not encounter any bed she could not immediately get up on.  Here she is laying under the ceiling fan while Grandma tended to the belly area…

I swung open the doors to enjoy the afternoon dappling of the sunlight in the southern ladies room because I want to remember this.

IMG_9729

This is another reason I love having a blog – it’s for the detail of the memories…

IMG_1966

We all cherish The East Bay Inn and have deemed it the bassethoundtown Savannah satellite location…complete with a lady’s room fit for a southern belle and her hand maidens…

After we rested a spell we took off for The Olde Pink House walking through our Reynolds Square soaking in the people parade.  We saw parasols, fancy hats, gentlemen “walkers”, pink poodles… just your average summer evening in Savannah.  You know, people and dogs taking the air.

TOPH:1

We were seated right away at our outside dining table.  As you can see, it was almost as if we were in the bar area.

I really needed to smile because I was in PINK heaven…

IMG_9737

Grandma was looking fetching as we continued to discuss the menu.

IMG_9736

The Mayor Daisy Lynn Rudert had another crowd gather around her while we were being seated and it was so cool.  A lady came up to us and asked us about the Mayor.  I told her we were on a book tour and she whipped out her phone and bought a copy on the spot!!!  WOW!!!

After a few minutes this dapper dog joined us…

IMG_9730

Daisy was pretty unimpressed…

IMG_9732

She actually walked over by her Grandma and got on her towel that we carried with us everywhere…

IMG_9735

Of course it is pink to match her surroundings…as one does…

As we finished up our spectacular meal we ventured through our Reynolds Square one last time (on this trip).  Arm and arm with the Mayor leading the way.  A couple on a bench, people watching announced to us…”You win the prize”!  We laughed and I said, “I know exactly what you mean and we certainly deserve it…glad to make your evening…”!

We were so proud!  LOL – Of course we win the prize for best people and hound on parade…Of course we do!

Savannah we love you..

More loving our Savannah later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB laying on pink towels covering Olde Pink Clouds…)

PS – Sunshine state here we come…

Savannah, GA Blog 3 of 4 – The Lily Book Tour – Home is where you park it!

July 22nd, 2017 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Savannah lovers.  If you have been you know…There is just something other worldly about this City of Squares.

When we last left off on Savannah blog number 2 Grandma, Daisy Lynn and I were getting ready to explore a little place I saw down an alley way when I was parking the basset hauling vehicle the night before.  It was misting rain and there were twinkling lights and I said, “note to self”…check this place out! I snapped a quick picture as I drove by…

Treylor-Park-Beer-Garden

And check it out we did!  This place is a gemstone.  It was right across the street from the East Bay Inn and we loved it!  Now we had our neighborhood pub and our neighborhood square!!!

photo2jpg

We love this neighborhood!!! Howl lucky are we?

IMG_1955

This lucky…Crab Cake Sliders and fried avocado wedges with a mini cast iron skillet of hot beer cheese…Did I mention the Chardonnay?  OMDOG we have reached the southern star!!!

IMG_1954

Yes, dear residents – this is livin’!

TREYLOR PARK – HOME IS WHERE YOU PARK IT!

IMG_1958

Just a tiny sliver of paradise…

IMG_1953

It was really too much food for a snack and we did have reservations at the Old Pink House for dinner so we decided to save one of the sliders and a few of the fried avocado wedges for our picnic lunch tomorrow.  You see – we check out for Florida in the morning!

But tonight there is more fun to have in our new Savannah neighborhood…

More loving our neighborhood in the Historic District later…Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn (Chaps and Emma ATB eating rainbow sliders…)

Savannah, GA Blog 2 of 3 – The Lily Book Tour continues…

July 19th, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and the Lily Book Tour in Savannah, GA lovers.  Savannah is so cool and we will return to this amazing city.  The folks who live in Savannah are so proud of their city and it shows.  The first thing I did after a fantastic nights sleep was to open those huge old doors to what we called the Southern Ladies room.

IMG_1951

It was shockingly cool on this Savannah morning – I actually had to look twice at the temperature.  51 degrees??? In Savannah???  In June???  It was really cool in the room but I loved it.  Daisy Lynn was enthralled by this place…

She thought her gully blanket felt so good!!!

IMG_1950

I was so worried about the weather on this trip.  None of us do well in the extreme heat and I thought we would miss a lot by not being able to get around but forget that!

We got around!!!

First off a little bit of sniffing in the Southern Ladies room…

IMG_1962

OK, it will do…

IMG_1961

We decided to take off after breakfast and explore our area square.  As you may know Savannah is made up of squares – each one as wonderful as the next.  Reynolds Square was about 2 minutes from our Inn.  AMAZING… We adopted Reynolds Square as our own.

IMG_9700

You can see the famous Old Pink House right behind me.  This is where our pack had reservations for dinner this night.  They have an outside area which is dog friendly.  We decided to stroll over and confirm our reservations.  Just 3 girls on a stroll in the square!

IMG_9703

I had packed a stunning pink snood for Daisy Lynn to model in front of the Old Pink House so I can put it in the boutique later.  I think I got some good pictures of it.  I will save those for the listing…

IMG_9718

The Old Pink House used to be a red brick house way back when.  Then stucco came into vogue and the owners at that time had the whole exterior finished in white stucco.  After a few steamy Savannah summers the red brick bled into the white stucco and VOILA – The Olde Pink House was born.  As I was taking this picture a family walked by and I heard a little boy say, “yep, it’s old and it’s pink…”  Gotta love those summer family vacations…”

IMG_9711

After we finished the model photo shoot we wanted to see if Daisy Lynn was allowed on the ever so familiar trolley tours… They welcomed her with open arms and it was in my open arms she parked her caboose!

IMG_9726

I think more people were taking pictures of her than the historic sites we were passing.  Too funny! That lace ear was flying and the good people on vacation were waving!

Here Jim Williams’ mansion.  Remember I was telling you that we were listening to Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil as we arrived in Savannah?  Well, here we are passing Monterey Square.

IMG_9727

After we got off the Trolley we decided to find a light bite to eat and a glass of wine.  I thought I had spotted the perfect place the night before in the alley across from our Inn.  We decided to saunter over and take a look see…

More looking and seeing later in our next blog 3 of 3 Savannah, GA…Love, Cat, Grandma, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB laying on Old Pink Clouds…)

#bassethoundtown lazy, Daisy Weekend…

July 16th, 2017 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Lazy Weekend Lovers…We will continue on our #lilybooktour shortly but I thought the residents might like to see a few pictures of our Mayor as she lounges in the sunlight of a Sunday morning…

DaisyLynnWeekend

Just a young girl hound on the cusp of her 5th year.  I just cannot believe that Grandma and I have had our Mayor in our lives for 5 years.  It all moves too fast.  We would also like to thank Audra and Bindi Mead for this cute little flag that was sent for my birthday…I LOVE IT!!!

PinkBassets

More loving a lazy Daisy Sunday later…Cat, Daisy Lynn, (Chaps and Emma ATB on the lazy rainbow clouds of the bridge…)
