1284Howllo Fellow Hound Lovers: It is amazing to me how we rescuers find our nitch. Imagine logging over 15,000 miles in one year in transport and pulling bassets from shelters. Well, that is exactly what Melanie and her basset Bella did. Two angles on wheels. Helping the truely needy. During her travels she noticed many dachshunds just as needy. So, this angel contacted her (unknown to her) future husband, Mack. Mack is the VP for transport and pulling dachshunds for Florida dachshund rescue. Talk about having alot in common. Who knew a bunch of long hounds would make a love match! Well, everyone came together. Melanie brought her six dogs (three doxies, two bassets, and a Clumber) and thirty five birds. Mack brought his three doxies. A family was almost complete. Melanie is due in June with their first child. A baby girl who is named Lilah. That is one lucky kid. She is also appointed as bassethoundtown.com’s resident baby for all to love.

Melanie is a truly inspirational lady. I have come to love Mack too as he is so good to Melanie and has such a love of all dogs. This is truly a match made in heaven.
Both Mack and Melanie give to the fullest to all that they do and the folks that they come in contact with. God bless Mack and Melanie and Lilah and all the furkids.
what a great story! and such adorable hounds.
Does Melanie have a sister?? I’d be interested to meet her!!!!!
I’m no longer surprised by all the people (and hounds dogs) whose lives are affected by Melanie, simply because she happened across their paths. But I am the luckiest one of those.
Ah, how nice it is to read this entry. I love Mack’s comment. OK, I had a moment! Thanks for sharing. Cecil and the round hounds
