    Devon,
My husband and I think what you are doing is simply wonderful. I had mentioned to him quite a while back that that is what I would do if some day I were lucky enough to win the lottery. Then along came you! What a wonderful young lady you are. It just restores ones faith in humanity.
Last summer we adopted our 8 yr. old basset, Maggie. She is such a joy to have added to our family…we also have Molly, a 2 yr. old beagle, and Sophie, an 8 yr. old cat. Along with Maggie came several medical problems and countless trips to the vet, so we fully understand the added care the senior basset requires. Many people do shy away from adopting seniors for that reason. I’m so glad that now there will be a place for them. I am very confident that you will win as this is such a selfless thing for a young person such as yourself to be doing. My husband and I tried to do our part by printing up quite a few of the flyers and distributing them to all of our co-workers. Best of luck to you! Our family will be watching and calling.

    God bless you,
    David & Barbara Vasquez

I can’t eat – I can’t sleep – I am so excited for you that I can hardly breath! Being a part of basset hound rescue with you has been one of the best things to ever happen to me – and to have graduated to such a fantastic organization as BARNI has made so many things possible that I could not have imagined. Thank you for reminding me that there are some humans that are good and that together we can save the worls – one dog at a time.

In the midst of the foolishness on the show, your unselfish DREAM of helping senior hounds and houndettes shone like a bright beacon of light! You made every Basset lover proud last night. My heartfelt gratitude for all you are doing!

Devon, you were pawsitively great last night. A shining beacon of light & love for your passion, basset hounds & senior bassets. My babies, Cleo & Pongo, got up & cheered with me when you were announced a finalist. We put in 10 calls from our home/cell & had alerted a lot other folks during the week to do the same. I said a prayer & continue to pray today that your dream comes true. I hope America shines through for you & the hounds tonight. Kansas City is sending tons of drool your way for good luck!

    March 28th, 2007 | 12:39 pm

    Devon,

You made us all so proud! Your video was great and your presence showed the best side of all basset lovers. You were great and we are lucky to have someone like you represent all of our efforts. Drool is flying your way that your Great American Dream is helped on its way. When we heard the prize we realized it would be a start (we know about the cost of vet bills).

Maybe you can convince ABC to run a link to basset rescue(s). The additional publicity you brought to the plight of senior bassets will generate additional donations or potential forever adopters.

    You did a great job!

    Janet
