How funny is this picture? I am still laughing. Danielle, our town artist sent it over. I might have to make up some greeting cards for myself of this image! Thanks Danielle! Love it, More Later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

Emma had to go to the vet yesterday:(

March 24th, 2007 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound Lovers: Yesterday morning the pack woke up and I thought that Emma’s eye looked a bit cloudy. Within minutes, her third eyelids were up and covering both of her eyes. The vet took us right away, and thinks it could be her allergies. I am of course worried. She is slowly looking better with some meds, but if you could spare a bit a drool we would appreicate it. Just don’t sling it in her eye area. More Later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Huh?? Yyyyaaaaaaawwwwwnnnnnnnn.
Hmmmmmm. Right.
Howdy, I am Miss Katie and I am a 12 year old basset –
I had a wonderful life with my human, until my human had a health problem and had to move to assisted living. Assisted living could not accomodate a gal like me – I’m deaf, and blind – and have Addisons Disease.
The wonderful folks of BaRNI said yes, we can help – and thru my aunts Shari and Donna, my overall health issues were addressed in foster care and then I arrived at Daphneyland.

This dream everyone is talking about…..
Well, I dream. About 50 times a day.
Which makes me perfect for Recreational Chair Hound of The Senior Center.
Huge groups of kids come up to us here for something they call Educational Youth Program – I call it the Carrot Treat Time – something I’d like to see more of!!

If the dream is granted, my goal would be to have the following activities and festivities for all the Senior Hounds living at the Senior Center….
*Marathon Nap Time
*The Casual Bellyrub – trip the humans & roll contest
*Loudest Whiner
*Wander around aimlessly with a youth attached to a leash contest
*Best Snore

I promise, if the dream becomes reality – to do my utmost best to wake up…..errrr….live up to my position.

Did I hear comfy beds were on the deocrating agenda?? Oh thank heavens….
Now would those beds be every 6 inches or would one have to actually WALK from one bed to another?
Does 3 steps constitute a walk….. I must daydream and ponder these concerns…..

Hey, it’s me Stretch again. Remember me?

Ummmm – For the record?
I think folks should design an indoor grooming room at the senior center – this particular shot is SOOOOO embarrassing!

I may be deaf, but I still have my modesty! Slurp

A quick favor – and a special request……

A quick favor – and a special request……

To each and every hound;

Today is a day that our Aunt Devon needs every hound to concentrate really hard and send good vibes her way. She is currently sequestered somewhere in Hollywood and taping of the show begins today! No one knows what she will be asked to do, or how much she’ll have to face in order for her Dream to be heard – and that dram is the one that helps all of us old guys across the nation.
Aunt Devon has a special good luck charm her human mom made sent to her – dog tags with her name and birth date and crystals all over it… you may get to see it when the show airs on 3/27/07 –

Sling drool for our Aunt Devon, today is an important day…..
Close your eyes, drool up a good long slinger and fling it towards Hollywood and those sparkly crystals on Aunt Devon’s neck…. we know her really well and she won’t mind be showered upon, its good luck and its from our hounds!!

Okay… everyone…. One, two, three – SLING!!

Barnaby – Devil Dog
Resident of Daphneyland from Day #1
Anxiously awaiting the possibility of chasing new bunnies at a new facility…

Note from Cat, Chaps and Emma: I hope all the drool helped!

Gideon woofin’ in! He wants to be head of security!!!

March 22nd, 2007 - 9:09 am KY Time

1581Chaps wants to borrow this outfit, but that’s another posting, hehehehe!

A leather studded hound.
What better way to SCARE OFF intruders?
See how intimidating I can be?

The name is Gideon and the age is 6 – not quite a senior, but certainly I have lived long enough to know how important it is to protect our beloved senior hounds. Since my arrival through BaRNI to Daphneyland, I have been in charge of sounding the alarm – the alarm currently consists of 98 hounds who desire bellyrubs – it is my job to alert one and all (even old sleepy Katie and Deaf Stretch) that potential treats have arrived, whether thats a visitor arriving with untold wealths of treats hidden on their body, or the major alert of a giant non-basset – such as the horse next door. Sound the alarm I do. All day long.

My mission would be to herald all visitors to the Senior Center – I do believe if the Dream comes true, and Aunt Devon gets the property behind Daphneyland – that I could be heard all the way to the ocean. I promise to make every effort at any rate, and I am very dedicated to this mission!

By voting for Devon, you are also voting for me –
I did mention that a possible adoptive home who needs an alarm system on the pantry would also be something I am extremely interested in right? Any takers?

Note from Cat: Can you believe that this guy needs a forever home? He reminds me of Chaps! He really wants to be the ONLY hound in your home. Looking for Mr. Right by your side? Stand in line!
