Ellen did massive damage to rescue groups. She said that it is all about the “dog”.
I think that see missed the mark on that comment.

She never even mentioned shutting down Petfinder. That was all her fault.

OK, the topic is over and she STILL did not do the right thing.

I am all over the Internet on many rescue boards, about 15, and the comments are 95 percent in favor of the Rescue.

I seem to recall, that when Ellen first started her show she adopted a puppy that did not get along with her cat. She gave that dog away as well. I am going to see if I can confirm that. I am almost positive. If so, Ellen is not talking or crying about that.

UPDATE: Can you believe this?

Keith Fink, a lawyer for Mutts & Moms, tells Page Six’s Marianne Garvey it’s all an act. Behind the scenes, DeGeneres’ publicist was calling the small agency and threatening it, says Fink, who played a vicious voice-mail message for us:

“This is Kelly Bush. We are filing a legal case against you. We are going to be contacting the media. This is not going to be good for your store or your organization. You did not do the right thing. You need to call back. There is no reason for you to take this dog. Please call back before this gets further out of hand.”

“Ellen’s lying,” said Fink. “She is using her power and her access to the media to destroy this agency in the media. This is a woman who has signed many seven-figure contracts. She knows what she signed.”

I wonder why Ellen is doing this?

Today is the Mayor’s birthday! Can you believe it? He is 7 years old today! This is just so much fun. Treats, Treats, and more Treats! Yesterday he got 14 dollars in the mail! 7 from his Grandma and 7 from his Grandpa for The Lily buck fund! He is so proud and so is his Mommy.

Howllo Fellow Hound and Devon’s Dream Lovers:

Devon L. Smith, of Devon’s Dream, is no longer affiliated with her
beloved-ed Dream Project of a Sr. Center – Sanctuary for BaRNI at Daphneyland. Devon has resigned from the BaRNI board. Her vision has taken a new direction and she will be starting her own 501(c)3 and eventual Foundation for the aide of Sr. Basset Hounds in the USA.

The Dream of a Sr. Center at BaRNI has been on BaRNI’s wish list since the formation of the BaRNI Rescue on December 21, 2005. Their Dream became a reality when Devon was selected by BaRNI to front the project as their spokesperson. She worked tirelessly towards BaRNI’s Dream and was instrumental for the near 20,000 raised to date.

Thank you Devon for all of your hard work. We will be updating Bassesthoundtown.com with all of your future endevors. Please stay posted folks! Devon and I will be working together on many projects!

Howllo Fellow Hound and rescue lovers: This just in from fellow rescuer, Melanie Browning. Thank you so much, Melanie for sending this to me. I am honored to feature this website in bassethoundtown.

Companion Animal Network’s historic pilot program run in February of 2007 gave birth to the launch of www.DogsInDanger.com two weeks ago. The ground-breaking website, which is an adoption portal exclusively for animal control agencies which euthanize animals and provides the number of days each dog has to live before being killed, has caught the media’s attention with a flurry of television, radio, press and internet reports.

THE INTERNET TRAFFIC IS SO OVERWHELMING THAT THE WEBSITE IS HARD TO LOG ON TO. THIS HAS BECOME THE 3RD MOST REPORTED ANIMAL STORY BEHIND KATRINA AND MICHAEL VICK

In the coming weeks many more media outlets will report on this historic breakthrough for animals.

DogsInDanger.com is the brainchild of Alex Aliksanyan, the brother of Companion Animal Network (“CAN”) Executive Director Garo Alexanian. In February of 2007, thanks to funding provided by Maria Barnett, a long time animal rescuer and operator of the short-lived Noah’s Ark Project Animal Shelter in Queens, CAN created a website for New York City Animal Care & Control’s dogs as being in imminent danger of euthanasia, advertising the site on Yahoo.com, Newsday.com, NewYorkTimes.com among others. In a 20 day period 40 animals were adopted, with the quality of adoptors being unusually high for an animal control agency, as almost all adoptors either already had one pet and adopted a second or were motivated because they did not know that dogs were being euthanized in their community.

Upon hearing of this success Alex Aliksanyan, who had previously founded an internet based firm which was reported by MSNBC and Inc Magazine as being one of the 500 top growing companies in the country, jumped on the concept and created DogsInDanger.com. Within the first week two dozen animal control agencies subscribed. By the second week New York City Animal Care and Control, again asserting its position of being the nation’s leader in innovative efforts to try to reach low-kill rates, became the first major city to join the website and began to list their dogs for adoption.

By the end of the second week 120 animal control shelters from around the country had joined the website. DogsInDanger.com has dedicated a substantial budget to begin major advertising campaigns to publicize the website to educate the public that wonderful dogs are being put to sleep in their community for no reason other than a lack of homes.

WE URGE ALL ANIMAL ADVOCATES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS BRIEF OPPORTUNITY AND CALL THEIR LOCAL ANIMAL CONTROL AGENCIES AND DEMAND THAT THEY JOIN THIS HISTORIC EFFORT TO BRING ATTENTION TO DOGS DYING IN EVERY COMMUNITY.

Howllo Fellow Hound and Buster lovers: Susan of Bluegrass Basset Hound Rescue has found Buster a forever home!

I am so excited for him. He now has a Mom, Dad, an 11 year old girl and a basset brother named Howler. He is living in a turn of the century Victorian that I hear is fabulous. I really hope the family contacts me so I can keep up with our boy Buster. He really hit the jackpot thanks to Susan who always has room for one more.

Susan said, “When people ask me how I can stand the chaos of so many dogs here, how I have time for all of this in my life, how I can do this day after day for years, I have to say, it is because I can make a difference for the Busters out there.”

Amen my sister! We love you for it!

Howllo Fellow Hound and BOB lovers: Today is the day, that the best of the basset hound breed will be judged and selected by Ms Diane L. Malenfant. It is a very exciting day at the Nationals. Here is the Catalog.

I have been to several Nationals and it is a blast. The beauty of the breed is at it’s finest and the show is magnificent. I am definitely going to the 2008 Nationals to be held in Dallas!
