What is wrong with people? – PLEASE READ –

October 9th, 2007 - 7:07 am KY Time

Howllow Fellow Hound and rescue lovers: This is an important, informative blog posting. Please read and pass it to as many people as you think would benifit. This will save alot of rescue folks alot of work, time, stress, and effort.

Yesterday, I receive an innocent e-mail from a dear friend who knows I am involved in basset hound rescue. She wonders, if I can help out this lot.

unknown_10.jpg

I NEVER IN A ZILLION YEARS, would have ever thought it was a hoax. Of course, my friend was angry as well.

So, being the good girl I am I pass this e-mail to my local Lab Rescues and find out the following.

Portions of E-mails back to me:

AHHH! The Free Lab Puppy E-mail is attacking Oklahoma City today!

I received it a few times last week and today I have received it over 15 times from volunteers and friends! I sent an e-mail out to all our volunteers as I knew they were probably getting it – hopefully this will prevent more forwards!

Another portion of another e-mail back to me:

We have gotten a few e-mails last week and several today about lab puppies needing homes.

Since all of you are lab lovers, I can imagine you may have received this e-mail trying to get help for the puppies and wanted to pass this information along:

This is a hoax, it has been all over the country, the problem is it does not have a location or a date so it continues to get passed around. (note from Cat, mine had a location and date)

Here is the link on snopes – scroll down to the middle: http://www.snopes.com/critters/ crusader/puppies.asp# update

The Good news is , there are no puppies to save! BUT there are so many that ACTUALLY need homes – if you get this e-mail from someone here is a great reply to help stop it and to get attention to dogs that do need homes:

“Thanks for the e-mail however, this is a hoax that has gone all over the country – you can find a link here at snopes: http://www.snopes.com/critters/ crusader/puppies.asp# update.
BUT there are many that actually do need homes at www.heartlandlabres cue.com – please pass this along to the person that sent it to you.”

OK, Cat back blogging.

So, folks, if you get this e-mail delete. Warn others and check out the facts before you forward an e-mail. Here is the body of the one I received. I felt it a close to home cause due to the location at the bottom of the message which I have deleted, Cincinnati. This person most likely was targeted for meaness. I have deleted the personal contact information so I can help stop this e-mail.
Subject: 6 Black lab puppies need homes badly…

We rescued 6 black lab (mix) puppies out of the middle of the road on

Saturday. PLEASE help me find them homes – otherwise, it’s Animal Control –
which means they only have 5 days. We’ve bathed them, sprayed them for fleas
and wormed them….but we can’t keep them. They are currently in a kennel in
my basement since I don’t have a fence. I’ve lost count of the number of
rescue groups that I’ve contacted, only to be turned down due to no room.
Please check with every dog person you know to see if they need a puppy. If
you have any questions, please write e-mail to

(personal contact information deleted by Cat)

P.S. How pathetic are the people who do things like this?

Bluegrass Basset Rescue supports our troops!

Howllo Fellow Hound and Soldier lovers:

As you all know, BGBR is in KY! It is my home state rescue! I hang out on their site quite a bit and today I saw this! SAPPER, OUR GUEST.

Thank you Susan. You are Sapper’s Daddy’s angel. Anyone would be blessed to be a part of your fold. Including my first foster ever, BUSTER!

Susan told me she is adding other hounds waiting for their loved one to return on this page. You can see them at the bottom of Sapper’s page. This is such a fantastic idea.

Susan, we will be checking back every day. You do good work and we are proud you are in Kentucky.

Please read Sheldon’s comment on the next blog posting!

October 7th, 2007 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and King lovers: OMG, you have to read Sheldon’s comments on the next blog down. It is so cute. Please donate to his benevolent campaign! He deserves to wear the crown and feel the glory. He kind of reminds me of Lily, wandering the streets only to be found and placed on a thrown by a loving family. Now he should reign for others!

Any amount is welcome. I am going over right now and donating. He is my foster boy! I know I only had him for one night, but it was very special!

Howllo Fellow Hound and especially Shelodon Lovers! (Me, Me, Me!) 842

It is hard to believe that it has been almost a year since Lisa and I drove to Atlanta for the GA bash. We had so much fun. We picked up Sheldon and Mamie so they could attend the out of towner’s pizza party.

(Sheldon far left, Mamie smack dab in the center, Hector Campbell far right. He is also running for King in a different event. We will showcase the very verbal Hector very soon!)

GUESS WHAT! Sheldon is running for King this year. Sheldon was adopted soon after the bash and has been a thriving family member ever since.

To see Sheldon, and the GA Bash last year, view the video! It was made on 11-6-06! It is so much fun! Are you going to the Bash this year?

Please give a few bucks to Sheldon aka Shelly Dog. Every little bit helps.

P.S. Mamie was adopted at the Bash last year. I asked her adopter to keep in touch, but she never did. Sigh

Chaps, big hit at his St. Francis of Assisi blessing!

October 4th, 2007 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo fellow Hound and blessing lovers: Well, we had a great time visiting our friend, Maddie’s school today, St. Francis day. The animals were in attendance for the annual blessing of the animals. We were sitting next to a cage of mice. I loved seeing the guinea pigs and birds.

Maddie’s class loved petting Chaps as you will see. (Sorry it is such a bad quality, I was walking Chaps and moving alot)

Thanks Maddie and her Mommy Jackie for inviting us. Make sure we are on the guest list next year!

Chaps to be blessed today!

October 4th, 2007 - 6:06 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and St. Francis of Assisi lovers: Chaps and I have been invited by our good friend, 5 year old Maddie and her Mother to attend a blessing this morning. Chaps will be with many other animals as they receive the blessing of the animals (Chap’s feels he does not quite fit in that category).

I will take Emma later. She is a bit wild for the main ceremony, if anyone actually wants to enjoy it. Oh, Emma! My wild girl. She can jump over your head if you bend over to pet her. Watch out if you have glasses on! I know. It’s my fault. We both need to get blessed.

Hopefully a video will follow later today! More Later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

This just in from Biscuit!

October 4th, 2007 - 6:06 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Biscuit (the hound) lovers: I received an e-mail from her last night in the form of a blog comment on the Kerri BaRNI Biscuits post.
I was sure many of you would miss it, so I pulled it over to it’s own blog posting. Here it is!

Dear Aunties and Uncs and Houndies –

I am feeling soooooo much better now. I really can’t believe I have a whole new future ahead of me, and let me tell you reading about other houndies eating MY COOKIES made me very hungry. so last night I decided I should eat a few cookies. My Uncle Sandy sent some over for me, and as I ginergerly CHOMPED away I realized that I have all these people who love me lots. And all these Houndies eating MY COOKIES! Aunt Kerri – whats up with that? My Aunti DaWn told me that I get to come out and play on Saturday. that she thinks as long as there is no rain or really cold weather, that I can start to rehab my little body all over the ranch. Who wants to come and give me COOKIES???
Thank you Aunti Kerri for baking your little fingers to the bone for meI’m getting well as fast as I can. Ensure is good but nothing beats COOKIES!

I am a pretty girl, my Aunts tell me so.
Love
Biscuit

Ah, thank you so much Biscuit for leaving such a wonderful message. I also wanted to say that Kerri’s Biscuits are all fresh and safe. No WHEAT GLUTEN in her products.

OK, we need new pictures! Please!
