Stella, Sadie & Shorty

How much do we love Dawn, Stella, Sadie & Shorty?

Chaps love them so much he wanted me to make a YouTube video. They smell so good. I think I might have a bite as well. Look at these ingredients:

Oat flour, olive oil, peanut butter, cheese, applesauce, banana, egg (only in the cheese or peanut butter cookies), vanilla, water.

These biscuits are fresh and healthy. NO WHEAT GLUTEN HERE!

This just in from Menzie Campbell! CUTE RESCUE PUPPIES NEED A HOME!

October 2nd, 2007 - 6:06 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Puppy Lovers: These cute rescue basset pups need a home. Menzie Campbell of OMBH has been fostering these pups since birth. This is such an endeavor. The Mom, Rosie, was part of the AR puppy mill discovery back in July of 2007. The Mom was part of the OMBR 24. Menzie and her husband Noel have loved these pups ever since. They are now ready to find their forever homes. Can you believe how cute they are? These pups need homes. Contact the link above for inquires. Here are the remaining 4 girls. One more will be ready for adoption in a few weeks so keep checking back.

PupsGoHome_033.jpg

This is Sarah; she is very clever and adventurous.. she learned the dog door all by herself at six weeks old. She would make a great agility or tracking dog for someone, since she is so clever and fearless.

PupsGoHome_029.jpg

This is Ginger. Ginger is a very sweet girl; she is more laid-back than her sisters, and doesn’t push her way forward to get petted. But when you do pick her up, you get millions of tiny puppy kisses. She is my personal favorites among the girls (but dont’ tell the others…) She will be a more submissive personality, I think; perfect for a household with other female bassets.

PupsGoHome_037.jpg

This is Katherine. Katherine is a gorgeous girl, with lots of wrinkles and heavy bone structure. She is more laid-back than some of the others, but will stand her ground over food or treats! I think she would do fine in any home, with males or females. She is also camera-shy.. so all her pics are blurry..

PupsGoHome_035.jpg

This is Ariel. Ariel and Lucy were the littlest, until they started eating solid food. Ariel has now caught up and then some! She is the one marked most like her momma – she is almost all white, with brown ears and hindquarters and only a few brown splashes on her body. She is vocal; you will know if she is unhappy! She is also full of life and mischief; in every picture of her, she is “smiling”- ready to play play play!

Well there you have it folks! The kids of Rosie! Now for the crowing glory! A YouTube Video of Mommy playing with the kids.

Menzie will you update us on Rosie? Is she up for adoption? Please leave us a comment.

You and Noel did a great job with this wonderful family.

Arizona Basset Rescue Fund Raiser starts today!

October 1st, 2007 - 8:08 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Painted Desert Lovers: Bassethoundtown.com will be doing a fundraiser for AZbasssetrescue.com this month. Chaps and Emma will donate 25% of every Lily book sale to AZBHR rescue. This is 5.00 dollars! They will also include a free greeting card with your purchase.

This bonded pair were the featured hounds in September. I will check on their status and see if they found a home yet. Look how sweet Willie and Campbell are!

willie_campbell.jpg

Here is what it says on the home page of AZBHR about them.

Have you ever put a puzzle together only to find you are missing a piece? Well, we think Willie and Campbell could be that missing piece in your life! These boys are an absolute perfect pair for each other and it wouldn’t surprise us if you thought they might be perfect for you too! They are the nicest pair of hounds you could ever want to meet, and they don’t have a bad habit between them!

AZBHR has saved over 140 dogs this year as of July with $72,000 in dog related expenses. Your support of the hounds is very much appreciated and the hounds are sending you drool hoping you can adopt, foster, volunteer, attend our fundraisers or make a donation.

Well folks, I hope someone sees their missing puzzle piece on this website. There is so much love out in the world, just waiting for us. More Later…Cat, Chaps and Emma

September 30th, 2007 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo fellow Hound and Buster lovers: Well, I am home. My Mom and I delivered Buster to Doug in Louisville today. I have gotten word from Susan that he is safe and sound in her home. Susan is the President of Bluegrassbassetrescue.org
It was really hard on everyone in my family, especially…..

50

Chaps.

As suspected all along, they did not get along. Here is Buster’s page.

The transport went off without a hitch. I would like to thank the wonderful Doug for meeting us in Louisville and driving Buster to Bowling Green, KY.

Emma and I are missing this guy. Chaps, not so much.

I was so stressed out I did not get good pictures.

Buster will be followed, forever! I hope.

BASSET HOUNDS NEED A RIDE!

Buster officially leaves for Bluegrass tomorrow :[

September 29th, 2007 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Foster Lovers:

Well, Buster leaves for Bluegrass Basset Hound Rescue
tomorrow, Sunday 9-30-07. He has been the greatest joy and house guest. I am adding my Foster report to this blog posting. I hope someone will read it and contact Susan to meet Buster.

So here is my foster report to her about Buster: I hope anyone who is interested in a hound of this fine caliber will contact her.

Hi Susan:

Well, we have it all in motion. Buster will be seeing you tomorrow (9-30-07), noon Central time. I am meeting Doug at 10:00am Eastern time in Louisville. What a nice man. It will be a pleasure to meet him. I am totally bummed out that I do not get to meet you. We will meet in the near future. I feel sure.

Now lets talk about Buster in case some of the stuff I told you about him was deleted from your e-mail snafu.

BUSTER INFO FROM HIS FOSTER FAMILY, THE RUDERTS, Cat, Chaps, Emma, Hilda and Wayne (Mom and Dad)

Buster had been living in his cage, 19 hours a day for 18 days prior to 9-26-07. I do not know what his days were like prior to that. He is 4.5 years old.

He has not been in his cage since I picked him up.

His cage was lined with newspaper and he was forced to use his cage to urinate and defecate. He has a deep ink mark on his chest that will not budge. It will most likely come off with time.

The first 2 nights he urinated in the bathroom where his bed was set up. By the third night, after getting the routine of potty breaks, he was fine. He is very smart and picks up on routines very quickly.

He is current on all of his shots, neutered, and seems in good health, mind and body which is a testimony to his strong spirit. The poor thing is starved for affection.

He is not micro-chipped. His vet papers will be faxed to me on Monday, according to the brother of the x-owner who found me.

He has turned over Buster to his brother via a legal document and I will also have a copy of that.

Buster is traveling with his cage, which I wanted to burn, but it might come in handy for something.

He had been eating Beneful which I promptly took him off of. His stools were soft and messy. He is now on Canidea, lamb and rice and in two days his stools are firm. He also loves it.

According to the brother, he is going to send me his extra heart worm and flea medicine, which he is current on. He does not have fleas. I checked him. I cleaned his ears as well. His eyes are bright.

He does like to hump females. This causes tension if there is a bonded couple. Buster would be great as a single companion or with one other dog. According to the bother, cats are an issue, but I am not sure if cats don’t like him, or he does not like cats. I would not risk it.

Buster loves to exercise or lay on the couch. He is a very versatile hound.

After watching Buster over the last several days, I must say that he is an Agility Hound. He leaped over Chaps while standing, (with clearance) and can maneuver the smallest crawl spaces. He would be a delight to any agility lover. He would thrive in training and bring hours of enjoyment to his human counterpart.

Do to his smallish nature, (40 pounds?) he would be a great companion for someone who likes to travel with their hound. He would also be a great hound for a couple who like to take walks and then retire to the couch for a long night of belly rubbing.

Buster is the King of belly rubs. He will enjoy this activity for hours on end. My Mom has been in charge of that department.

Buster minds very well. He also sleeps through the night.

Hopefully I will learn more later….Cat, Chaps and Emma, (Buster on his way tomorrow) Good luck Buster. We love you
