Chaps WOWs the kids of Wise Owl pre-school!
Howllo Fellow Hound and Lily book lovers: We had so much fun today. Chaps, Lisa and I visited Wise Owl pre-school to read the Lily book.
Chaps was such a good boy and received an A+ on his report card. The children loved learning about basset hounds and dog safety.
We read the Lily book to 3 classes and Chaps was the best “Ambassetor” ever!
The children loved visiting with Chaps and also enjoyed the Lily book.
A very special moment occurred when a child asked about Chaps’s birthday. I told her that it is coming up, in October, and Cindy, the teacher suggested that the group sing him HAPPY BIRTHDAY. It was so touching. Lisa captured it on video. I will bring it to you very soon.
Chaps loved it, as he does visiting with children. The smiles on their faces were just so much fun to see. Each child got to pet Chaps. I had them do dog safety by presenting the back of their hands to his nose. He was so dejected. He thought they all had treats!
I love that guy so much.
Emma cannot visit schools. She is too wild. She loves children so much she goes crazy. I told Lisa today, that we would need a team of six wearing “Team Emma” shirts to bring her. Also, maybe a tiger cage.

My Nephew, Ronald, was invited to participate in the NYLC
Howllo Fellow Hound and family lovers: My nephew, Ronald, was invited to participate in the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington DC this week. (Ronald is in uniform)
The National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) is designed to instruct and enrich promising students in a hands-on, experiential atmosphere while preparing them for a lifetime of leadership.
NYLC offers students the opportunity to discuss current events and issues with top policy makers in Washington, D.C., analyze concepts, and then put them immediately to work. This dynamic program features creative decision-making simulations that challenge young minds to solve problems and lead their peers through role-playing exercises in an energy-charged environment far from the traditional classroom experience.
Great job Ronald! We are all very proud of you. Love Aunt Kit Cat, Grandma, Grandpa, Chaps and Emma!
Chaps has his apples ready for the teachers!
Howllo Fellow Hound and Apple lovers: Chaps and I are on our way to read the Lily book to some pre-school students. We are visiting a wonderful pre-school called the Wise Owl, right here in our home town. We will visit 3 classes each with 20 students.
The first thing we do is talk about dog safety for a few minutes. Chaps is a great teacher and loves to demonstrate how to lay very still!
Do you live near Cincinnati or know someone who does? If so we would love to visit other schools. This is my School Visits Page
You can forward this blog to anyone you think might be interested.
Well, we better go get ready. I have to run to the store and buy some apples for Chaps to give to the teachers. He really wants to be the teacher’s pet!
Chaps after his bath yesterday, wondering if he can cut the lunch line!

The DD servers are down and we are waiting for Alex & Melissa to fix them. It may be a little while b/c Alex was rushed to the ER last night and Melissa had to take their Houndie to the ER this morning.

Bragging about Emma!
Howllo Fellow Hound and smart girl lovers!
Ok, here is how it went down! I rarely let the kids in the garage. Too many little things that I cannot see. So, today, I had the garage door open and Emma is allowed to come in. I am just managing my inventory of the Lily book and keeping an eye on her. OK, I have a pile of approximately 15 dog toys laying in front of the washing machine. No big deal, I have a pile of about 30 upstairs. Emma proceeds to analyse the pile. No problem. But what she does is very smart! She picks out the one toy that she has deamed as her outside toy for years and runs out of the garage with it. How smart is that? She runs up to her favorite place out back and starts loving the toy.
The other toys are sad, but I am one happy Mom. Hey, where does one buy that honor kid bumper sticker? Slurp!
More Later…Cat, Chaps (slept through the whole thing) and Emma, Valedictorian of her class, I’m sure!
Billions spent on love in 2006!
Howllo Fellow Hound and loving them at any cost lovers: USA TODAY reports that so far in 2006 $38.5 Billion dollars has been spent on our pets. The breakdown is as follows:
15.4 Billion on Food (Seems low, the bassets want a re-count)
9.3 Billion on Supplies/medicine (Are the HOP totals in this?)
9.2 Billion on Vet Care (That’s all?, They must not have gotten BaRNI in this figure!)
2.7 Billion Grooming and Boarding (Chaps and Emma did not add to that number!)
1.9 Billion Live animal purchases (The cost of love compaired to the cost of food? Food for thought!)
