Day 8 – Wanna see Emma’s recess!

October 11th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and recess lovers: I call it recess because it is a huge relief to get the opitivisor off and air a girl out! My Mom and I are doing this every day now until it comes off for good. My Mom cleans the opitvisor and I wash her neck and paws with warm water. She loves all of the extra attention.

Here is a litter closer picture of her eye. It it healing nicely.

That drainage is not current. My vet told me NOT to clean it. He wants absolutely no pulling in that area.

Here is Emma with a clean optivisor! Grandma thought she did such a good job (by not trying to scratch the eye area) that she got a smiley face sticker. How cute is that?

When life throws you frowns, try to smile.

More smiley face stickers later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Well, I want to start by apologizing to everyone for not being up to date. I only recently (2 weeks or so) found this website and love to hear all about the dogs. I have two, but don’t tell them, they don’t know they are dogs.

Now to the point. I am so sorry to see Emma that way. From what I read, I thought she had one good eye and one fake and that the fake needed to come out. Bassets win in the breed with the saddest look but yours wins individually.

She is so sweet and it is really nice to see you have a couple loving ladies to take care of her. Can she get out and sun on her own or does she need guidance in finding her way?

Also, and once again I apologize if I am asking something stupid or inappropriate, but what happened to her eyes to begin with. I tried looking through he site but don’t know if I just didn’t go back far enough or what.

Thanks and keep up her spirits, you will be rewarded for it with her love and attention.

Hi Dan! Thanks for the well wishes for our Emmers! Emma is amazing and can get around all by herself in her home environment. She is totally blind. She lost her first eye about 2 years ago and that is when the fake eye was put in. She lost her second eye in February of this year. The cause of her blindness is hereditary glaucoma.

The fake eye failed and then she had to have a third surgery to remove it. I know it is confusing.

There is NOTHING inappropriate about your comments at all. We love educating folks on her condition because we love helping others.

    Nice to meet you guys!

I am so pleased that the Optivizor is helping with Emma. I am the son of the inventor. It does make us feel so proud and thankful that we can help in a small way. Just as with our family dog Billy who lost his eye to Glaucoma. I try and keep updated with your wonderful website and visit when I can.

We are always refining the design to make it more comfortable for the pooches out there and your feedback through this site has been invaluable to us, we even linked to it on our facebook page.

    Many thanks and much love

    John.

Hi John – thanks for checking in. We could not have done the recovery without the Optivizor. Never. It saved our hearts and our souls. I love the Optivizor.

Pawsome – You have a facebook page? I have to go find it and like you. I will also put it on my blogroll…

Thanks for checking in with us….

Thanks for your lovely comments on the facebook page. It has been such a hard road bringing a new product to market and we do owe a lot to people like yourself. I know dad doesn’t like seeing himself on TV but just in case you are interested you are welcome to see Tasi and Billy on an Australia TV show called ‘the new inventors’ when it all started a few years back… We always have a laugh when we watch it! http://www.abc.net.au/tv/newinventors/txt/s2251463.htm
