Breaking…Good Emma News!

October 13th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and breaking good news lovers! (and who isn’t one of those?) Emma’s doctor just called and said that she could come in on Wednesday morning to get her surgery site looked at!!!!!!!!! OK we are feeling a bit faint over this news, we are wondering if we are dreaming, since we did the whole fooling ourselves thing earlier today.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! She might get her stitches out on Wednesday and be Optivisor free!

OK…Deep breath.

Only one day to go!

*crying*

Do I count today and Friday as Optivisor days?

October 13th, 2008 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow hound and fooling yourself lovers! LOL!

OK, here is the question. Do I count today and Friday as Opitvisor days? If so, we have 5 days left. If not, we have 3 days left! I think I will go with the latter. Yes! the latter. If you think about it, today is almost over if you squint your eyes and pretend it is dusk and go to bed early. On Friday, I will get her the first appointment, so that day really does not count. Hey, I like fooling myself!

Emma did great yesterday (Sunday). I cleaned all of her bedding and sat with her for most of day on the couch while she had time off from the Optivisor. I really cannot say enough about this invention. It has saved our lives over the hell of wearing a cone. Wearing a cone for Emma was torture. She was at a disadvantage being so low to the ground it would catch on everything. Oh, I could write a book on how horrible it was, but I will not add to your Monday morning fun! hehehe

Here she is after she had her first eye extracted wearing the dreaded cone. As you can see it was hard for her to lay her head down:

I have decided, 3 days it is!

More fooling ourselves later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

OH NO! Tell me it aint so!!!!!!!

Howllo Fellow Hound lovers but not loving the holiday season coming up lovers!!!!!! OMG! Reports on the Today show this morning said that this will be the most dismal holiday season for retailers in 25 years. I thought that was a bit generous, I bet it is more like 50. Anyway, something I found totally interesting was the added report that luxury items like JEWELERY were going to fair even worse!

Do not fear my jewelery loving and buying readers!!!! You are privy to the best priced jewelery on the internet! (I really don’t know if that is the case, but it sounds good) hehehehe

I am talking about the House of Puddles Jewelery store!

I just added this item last night!

So shop away my dear dazzling, waiting to bejeweled friends. No need to fear luxury items, especially when you are helping the elders at the HOP! Each one a diamond to be treasured.

Day 8 – Wanna see Emma’s recess!

October 11th, 2008 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and recess lovers: I call it recess because it is a huge relief to get the opitivisor off and air a girl out! My Mom and I are doing this every day now until it comes off for good. My Mom cleans the opitvisor and I wash her neck and paws with warm water. She loves all of the extra attention.

Here is a litter closer picture of her eye. It it healing nicely.

That drainage is not current. My vet told me NOT to clean it. He wants absolutely no pulling in that area.

Here is Emma with a clean optivisor! Grandma thought she did such a good job (by not trying to scratch the eye area) that she got a smiley face sticker. How cute is that?

When life throws you frowns, try to smile.

More smiley face stickers later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Check out this totally cute puzzle!

October 11th, 2008 - 9:09 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Puzzle Lovers: Look what my nephew Julian found for us to play with.

Last weekend he came over to visit Emma and I told him that we had to stay in the same room with her and be fairly low key. Well, look what he brought over for us to do! He is such a good boy. Just as a reminder, Julian has a pug!

I wanted to show everyone the puzzle in case you need something like this for the Holidays coming up. I found a link that shows where it is sold:

USAOPOLY.COM

Julian and I are still working on it. I will take a picture when it is done!

Ahhhhh……..good ole fashion fun!

What a nice surprise at my P.O. box today!

October 10th, 2008 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and nice surprise lovers! I checked my PO box today and found a bassetabulous letter from Sue! What was so cool, is that Sue and her husband live one town over from me. It is actually the town that my Mom grew up in! Covington, Kentucky.

Sue and her hubby sent a check to the House of Puddles for 50.00 dollars!!!!!!!
They found the HOP through my website and that makes me so PROUD!

They also had really nice things to say about bassethoundtown.com! (shucks)

Sue and her hubby have a special needs basset hound named Sportster who has seizures.
Sportster has had seizures since he was 2, he his now 8.
Sue states,
“He will have one and then gets up as if nothing has happened.”

Sue also states,
“His sister basset will bark a certain way to let us know her brother is having an attack.
They look out for each other just like Chaps and Emma.”

OK – how weepy was I in the Post Office?

I e-mailed her to see if her kids could meet my kids for a walk on the Purple People Bridge? It is about half way between our homes!!!!!!!!!

Here is a video I did about a year ago of Chaps and Emma walking on the bridge. It is totally cute!

Finally, I find bassets in my area! Sue, I love you.

More videos later……..Cat, Chaps and Emma

Miners – Jenny, Miss Kitty, Abby & Diva Angel Penny strike gold!

October 10th, 2008 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and Gold Rush Lovers: Yes, I am still holding the gold rush! You know why? The Gold is still coming in for the Golden Oldies at the House of Puddles.

Jenny, Miss Kitty, Abby and Diva Angel Penny sent in their stash over a week ago. I had to close the trading post for a bit due to our Emma’s surgery, but it was back open today and I galloped off to the Jewelry store to get some loot! Yee Haw!

Here is what Jenny and her kids donated and the HopPers cannot thank you enough. Times are ruff and it is folks like this that keep the wagon wheels turning at the HOP!

Here is what the 10K and 14K haul brought in: 186.90!!!!!!!!!

Here are the stones that were extracted from the bracelets. The large citrine Jen sent loose. I am going to use all of the loose stones in different ways to make more money for the HOP. I have some really cute ideas and I will have some of the new items listed in the HOP boutique section very shortly for your holiday shopping pleasure. Please feel free to browse around anytime. We are open 24/7!

Today is Chaps and Emma’s Grandma’s Birthday!

October 10th, 2008 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and birthday lovers: Every year, I do a photo shoot of my Mom on her birthday. I just thought I would share these pictures. I let her leave Emma’s side for 20 minutes. LOL! The funny thing is that My Dad was sitting with Emma because we try to correct her scratching if it is near her eye. OK, this is supposed to be about my Mom. hehehehe

and one more…….

This is my front yard. It is about as big as a postage stamp but that suits us just fine. Everyone have a great weekend and I am off to have a glass of wine or 2 with the birthday girl.

More pretty pictures later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

7 days down, 7 days to go!

October 10th, 2008 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and keeping track of Emma lovers: We are so excited to be half way through the healing process. It seems like a life time to me, and I am trying to stay positive looking ahead to another week of this. As Emma heals she get more itchy.

Today, for the first time, she laid in one of her favorite spots outside. Our Emma is a serious sun bather.

Here she is a bit closer up:

We will be around all weekend doing some steady healing! Hey, is that light I see at the end of the tunnel?

Keep in touch……..

More healing news later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Emma’s swelling is almost gone!

October 9th, 2008 - 2:02 pm KY Time

Hollow Fellow Hound and swelling down lovers! LOL! Wow, that took a long time. She is healing well and the surgery site looks great. You can’t really tell from this picture, but she looks good.

She is outside walking around with her Grandma right now. It’s a beautiful day and she can enjoy some fresh air.

More updates later. Count down to stitch removal in full swing.

Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
