The Dazzling Dames

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Blood Hound Lovers: I saw this yesterday on Twitter from Scully’s Mom. It is such a touching video. It is a sad story of an owner having to give up this bonded pair due to illness. It is explained in the video. After I saw the video I contacted SaveLasVegasDogs and told them I would put this on my blog. I also sent the video and my correspondence with SaveLasVegas Dogs to
Las Vegas Basset Hound Rescue.

excerpt from SLVD

“Thanks for reaching out to us. We are overwhelmed with animals in LV. Sources tell us Animal Control has cut personnel 75% on street for responders. Local kill shelter euthanized 100s of animals each day.
NSPCA is only free-standing no-kill animal sanctuary in Las Vegas serving population of 2 million people.
Happy hounding – kudos to you & your work.
I do not know if dogs can go out of state, but I copied Doug Duke on this.”

My main question about the pair was if they were allowed to be adopted out of state. I have not heard back on that and I have not heard back from Las Vegas Basset Hound Rescue. I will certainly keep everyone posted on this Dazzling Duo.

More updates on the Dazzling Dames later……..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

I often think about what would happen to my hounds if something happened to me. I guess I need to get down and write out that will so that I don’t have to worry anymore. Nothing is more sad than a hound losing their owner. They don’t understand and are confused. I’m sure these two ladies will find a great forever home. I’m so glad they are in a no kill animal sanctuary.

I watched this yesterday in the midst of the anxious waiting for news about Paul … it was too sad! I hope the ladies find a new home soon. I assume the Blood Hound thinks the Basset is just a short Blood Hound, and the Basset thinks the Blood Hound is a tall Basset? They are very sweet together. LV has taken a big hit in this economy, and a lot of people losing homes and abandoning their animals. Isn’t the “Best Friends Sanctuary” out in that part of the country somewhere? I’m wondering if they could help.

OMG….How sad…Someone , somewhere must be able to give them a home? How long can they stay @ the Shelter. Poor owner..I wish some kind soul would take them to visit him.

    Hi Nin –

I know, what a sad story, but this bonded pair can stay at the shelter until they find a home. I e-mailed Las Vegas Basset Hound Rescue and they never e-mailed me back. I thought that was odd. Oh Well, I won’t give up on them. I will keep checking with the original rescue to make sure we showcase them in Basset Hound Town for the world to see. What a duo! I would love to love them.
