Emma takes her first real walk after back surgery!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Real Walk Lovers: Well, today was the day for Emma’s first real walk after her back surgery. It has been a full 8 weeks of recovery and now she was ready to test the walking waters! I am please to report she was back to her old pulling self! Wow! We are lucky enough to live in a small town with two parks. I have shown the other one before but I am not sure if I have shown this one. It is a bit to far to walk so we drive. My Mom and I can walk to it in about 20 minutes but the hounds can’t do that.
Today’s walk was a real triumph as Emma marched through the Fort park like she was leading a parade!
We live in a town called Fort Thomas.
Our town was named after General George H. Thomas.
Just a bit a history that I really never knew that much about until tonight.
Anyway, on with the walk. Like I said, Emma was stepping so proudly on her first walk and I commented to Grandma that it looked like she was marching. Grandma said, “Of course she is, she is at the Fort!” We just laughed so hard. It was a lot of fun today.
Here is a picture of the Recreational Hall. It is so pretty. There are a fair amount of weddings held here in the spring and summer.
Right across the small road, directly in front of the Rec Hall there is a new Music Shell being constructed. You know those kinds that you watch as you sit on the lawn like nice folks! LOL! I wonder if hounds are allowed?
This is a picture of Emma and Chaps in front of the rock with information. I have a close up next. I found it so interesting that I have this history in my own back yard but I never really delved into it. It was kind of like going on a mini vacation.
Here is the up close rock picture.
Then, don’t tell anyone please, Chaps lifted his leg on the important rock. Mommy’s not telling and there is no photographic evidence.
Then we took off for our walk through a field of clover. Just look at our Emma. This is her marching photo! Just as proud as punch I was. Proud as punch!
We walked for about 30 minutes and Emma never stopped pulling and wanting to go further. She is such a joy and an inspiration!
Here is Grandma helping her up one rather large curb, but nothing Emma could not handle.
Then it was time for a treat and rest. We watched some handsome guys playing volleyball. They looked like solders. Did I mention the treats were for all of us? LOL I did not get any pictures, they were kind of far away. SORRY! Halla. As you can see the kids are looking and listening in that direction.
Well, our time was up and we needed to load into the Element. You know me, I cannot, not show the best part!
The END!
More standing, pretty as a picture later……….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Hmmmm…so the mayor doesn’t think too highly of the towns history huh? Ha! Such good pictures and it looks like a beauteous day. And the most beauteous part is that Emma is back to normal!

Well, those photos were fantastic–I am so happy that she is walking again and so well–YAY, Emma!! Cat, all the pics you show of your neighborhood and surrounds are just idyllic–it looks a lovely place, indeed, to raise houndies:) Hugs to the Emma and the Mayor!

So nice to see the Mayor and Our Emma out and about. I am sure Our Emma was soooooo very delighted with this outing, and I think your mother and the hounds could be part of the Fort Thomas history, because they are a local institution. They also look so picturesque in the park.
I wouldn’t worry about the Mayor’s incident at the rock, he was just marking its importance.
Wow!!! What a great day for all of you!!
xoxoxo,
