Happy Father’s Day Titan, Love Emma….

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Father’s Day Lovers: Well, Emma is certainly one of those. Emma’s Daddy is a big, freckled guy named Titan.

I got to meet Titan when I drove to TX to pick up Emma and Chaps. Chaps hated him with a passion. Titan was (and maybe still is?) the stud dog at the BoBac Facility and has Fathered many, many litters.

Little Emmers only had one picture taken with her Father and then I whisked her off to the good life!

Happy Father’s day Daddy. We hope you are doing well and have a nice life. Love, Emma

More wishes later…..Love, Cat and Emma (not Chaps, he could care less about Titan)

No wonder Emma is so beautiful. She had a very handsome father. Jethro’s fathers name is Vickybe’s Willie Nelson. They probably called him Willie. I never met his Dad as Ronald picked up Jethro and brought him home for my birthday. I kind of wish I were with him so that I could have taken pictures of his parents. I’m sure we’ll never have another pedigree again unless one finds its way in to rescue. I’ve learned that there’s too many homeless hounds out there and plan on rescuing in the future.

I totally agree with you Cindy. I don’t know what the future holds for me. I can never say never. But one thing is for certain, I will always rescue the majority of my hounds.

I actually feel like Chaps was a rescue. I did a blog posting on that a while back. He lived in a show kennel and it was the pits. It was very clean but it looked just like a pound. He was never so glad to get out of there in all of his life. Plus he hated Titan the “stud”.

Now he is my big baby boy! hehehehehehe

He is definitely a beautiful dog. (Chaps is even better looking though).

Happy Father’s Day to the Mayor and to the resident Grandpa of BHT! Slurp!!

Kerry – Of course my baby boy is better looking! hehehehe

Grandpa says thanks. We were going to take him out to lunch, but now he says he does not feel too good. So, Grandma and I are going to go celebrate for him. We will bring him something back.

    Poor guy.

Ya know, it’s sad to say that some hounds bought from breeders are rescues. A friend of mine bought a puppy (not a basset) for her Dad from a back yard breeder a few years ago. When she picked him up he was so full of fleas that he had sores all over him. When she saw him he was going home with her no matter what. He needed someone to take care of him properly. He was 3 months old and I can only imagine what his first 3 months of life were like. And they actually charged her $200 for this dog! He’s got a great home now. And I guess I shouldn’t say never either. Situations may arise where we will buy from a breeder.

Poor Grandpa! You guys are running off and leaving him at home? You’d better come back home with something well worth it. I’ll bet Chaps and Emma will stay with Grandpa and help him celebrate Father’s Day.

Cindy, I know what you mean. Another one of the reasons I went to an AKC/BHCA breeder was to do the right thing and buy from a reputable breeder. One that honored and cherished our beloved bassets. One that only had the health of the hound in mind. I think there are great basset hound breeders and then there are the ones like I picked. They seemed to only care about the look of the hounds. I never in one thousand years thought that they would lie to me about a health examination. I was flat out duped.

I thought by picking the breeder at the top of the club I could count on quality and heath. This breeder was the VP of the club!

Oh, I could go on and on but I won’t! It’s Father’s day.

We did get Grandpa a nice dinner for tonight and ran some much needed errands. He is doing good.

    Thanks for asking

Well, that just goes to show you that you can research and research but if the breeder lies and is not in to it for the well being of the hound, it’s a chance you take. You went in to it with the right attitude and you were an exemplary adopter. Too sad.

Wow, he sure was visited by the freckle fairy! What a beautiful boy!

I find myself wishing I knew what Scully’s daddy looks (or looked) like. We only met and have pictures of her mommy, but have totally lost touch with the breeder.

Chaps, don’t be like that, remember without Titan you would have never met Emma.

It also might hurt Emma’s feelings if she knew you didn’t like her Daddy.

P.S. Chaps, just so you know, you are so much more handsome than Titan.
