Merry Go Round and Round!

June 26th, 2009 - 9:09 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Merry Go Round Lovers! OMG! Who does not like a Merry Go Round? Well, my nephew Julian had to be talked into it. It did not take too much. We went to a really old amusement park today and the Merry Go Round is my favorite! He is so sweet and he acquiesced for me!

He ran off to one of his boy rides after this picture and I took this one. Oh, how I love a Merry Go Round!

I love magic.

Then we ran like the wind to the Ferris wheel!

My Mom and Dad went to this park as kids. It is called Coney Island. Just like the NY Coney Island. I think it was built right after the NY one.

Then we went to the duckie area! Pull a duck, win a prize! Fun, Fun, Fun!

It only took 5 dollars to win a marble! Yes!

How much fun! Coney Island!

More bragging about fun later………Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma!

Poor Julian. He probably thought the merry go round was for babies. Ha! I’m glad he gave in and finally rode with ya. Wow. You guys are really staying busy! How can you even find time to blog! This isn’t just Julian’s vacation it’s yours too huh? How cool. I’m so glad that both of you are having fun. Julian will talk about his visits with Aunt Cat for years to come I’m sure. He’s such a lucky kid to have a cool aunt like you. And your a lucky aunt to have a cool nephew like him!

the bonus is that yours may be open long after ours is long gone. its to be razed at some point for housing…the cyclone (roller coaster) will still be around but thats supposed to be pretty much it is …such a shame. they opened a minor league ball park there a few years back and i read that this summer ringling bros is having a small circus there all summer…its a shame because the nyc aqaurium is there and of course nathans…the original…it was always a great place place to spend the day…a hsort subway ride…the beach, the aquarium, the rides, the dogs…what more did you need???

glad to see you guys are having such fun.

buster is on the mend. lots of meds…1/2 his head and neck is shaved and he fights like crazy for the ear drops but he’s finally getting some persoanlity back…and thankfully no surgery! wore his first snood to the park yesterday…told he looked like a babushka…served him right.

this weekends house guest is a tiny 5 month old cavalier king charles puppy who worships the ground buster walks on.

took the boys, the tiny puppy and huge sophie the berner to the park yesterday…quite the enterogue!!

    Cat,
LONGGGGGG time lurker, first time communicator. Have wanted to forever and this one just jumped up and grabbed me. I grew up in N. Eastern KY(graduated from Morehead in late 70″s) and I have fond memories of the mid/late 60’s and parents dropping off my friends and me at Coney Island for the day and then they headed next door
to “The Downs” for some adult fun! Also, rest assured that my husband and I are totally devoted to our enslavement to 18month old Diva and PW in-training basset Samantha Josephine. I also think you are an amazing, fabulous, compassionate, and most talented lady that I truly admire.

he ended up with a HUGE hematoma on last firday/saturday. took him to my vet on monday who said he had massive ear infection in his left ear as well and one in his right and a huge hot spot from about 1/2 his head and neck. all of this came on suddenly. he was miserable and the boy stank. she wanted to do immediate surgery to open the ear up and insert a drain for 3 weeks.

i called a friend who called suzanne fitcfh of mid atlantic rescue (his group) and she suggested seeing the vet the use. so we got an emergency appt the next day with her on the assumption surgery would be on wednesday. they wanted to do laser surfery on it…cleaner, quicker healing and no drain.

turns out they were able to drain the ear without surgery (thank god!) shave his head, clean the wounds, clean the ears and treat him with meds. he is gorked out but on the mend. no e collar just the babuschka snood when he is out at the park.

we both get aerobic training in as i chase him with the ear drop full of meds…small apartment but a good cardio workout tho!

the rescue helped cover the cost of everything and is accepting donations to cover it for which i am now and will forever be eternally greatful since my vet wanted $400 for it. i am on disability and there is no way i could have come up with that.

i told buster maybe i’ll hold a fashion challenged telethon for him to help raise money…i mean iffen you saw him in the snood you would want to donate to get the poor boy better clothing.

he goes back to see them next friday. already it looks like its healing…i put some calming drops in his food with his meds and very mellow now, much to chargrin of miss brandy the puppy staying over. she just wants to play and play but shredding catalogs is also fun in a pinch too.

oh and remember bradley the rottie…well he started swimming therapy and acupunture on monday…picture if you will (i sound like the twlight zone guy) a 128 lb rottie in a giant tub tank) on a treadmill…yeah not happy…was very happy tho covered in warm packs and towels with 2 cabana girls massaging him and loving on him…eyes closed and smiling…so happy to say he is on the mend. acupuncture went well also..he also enjoyed being iced over by the cabana girls (i think its just the cabana girls)

Wow, sounds like you got your hands full! Well, I’m glad everybody is on the mend and that the rescue helped. I’m sure they’d much rather do that than have to take him back in rescue. We’ll send some healing drool for ya and cross our paws that everything continues to improve.

Paula! Thank you so much for the sweet compliments. I am thrilled to meet another resident of BHT!

As a family we would take the ferry across the river to Coney. “The Downs” is still a fun place for the grown ups and now there is Riverbend if you want to catch an outdoor concert. Coney certainly brings back a lot of memories.

Wonder if we were kids standing in line together? Sound like we are about the same age!

I need to post some more Coney pictures! hehehehe

We would love to see a picture of Samantha Josephine. Sweet baby girl hound!

Hi Cat – I was just pulling up a Google map for Northern Kentucky University (there’s a job opening there that fits me) and the first thing I saw on the map was “Old Coney Amusement Park”. I said to myself “hey, that’s the place Cat was just blogging about!”. I guess if I got a job there, we would be within howling distance of BHT! (I know Hannah would love to meet the Mayor and Emma in person … oh and Miss Cat too)!

    😉

Kerry – NKU is about 5 minutes from my home. A lot of people live in Ft. Thomas that work and go to school there.

That would be so cool if you guys move to KY. NKU is a great school and the area is really cute.

You have to keep me posted! The Mayor, Emma and I are anxiously waiting.

    Lois –

Thank you so much for the update. I want to see the poor boy in a snood! I bet he looks cute. Is Suzanne Fitch of Mid Atlantic the one taking the donations?

I can e-mail her and see how BHT can help. I can send her some Lily books for her next auction or raffle.

Lois, do you know what caused this? It sounds so scary.

The Ferris Wheel was always my favorite ride; but, age has caught up with me. I used to love the Tilt-a-Whirl, but I went on that ride a few years ago and got really sick.

That marble better be really pretty for $5.00.

This has made me think that I haven’t been to an amusement park in quite awhile. Friends and I used to take a day off of work during the summer and go to Great America in Gurnee. I loved the rollercoasters there (but I did get sick).
