Would you like a Chaps tail update?????

June 18th, 2009 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Chaps Tail Update Lovers: OK – tomorrow is our last day of anti-biotics for the big golf ball sized cyst that the Mayor had on his tail.

Never one to keep his residents guessing on how he is doing and a firm believer in full disclosure about his health we are releasing the following pictures. This one shows the Mayor in the resting position.

img_1883

It appears to me that there is still some swelling and redness in the area. Here is a closer look:

img_1882

He will go in for a check-up early next week. I want to see how his tail does over the weekend off of anti-biotics.

The good news is, none of this affected his appetite! YES!

More tail updates later…Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

BHT residents, Trisha, LuLu and Brutus ask for your votes!

June 18th, 2009 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Ugly Tie Contest Lovers: I had to LOL when Basset Hound Town resident Trisha asked me to vote in this ugly tie contest for her Dad. She wants to win a fishing trip for him for Father’s day. Trisha’s hounds LuLu and Brutus love their Grandpa very, very much and want him to win as well!

These are the Grand dogs – LuLu and Brutus.

He is not only a great Dad but a great Grandpa who has 3 basset hounds of his own.

When Trisha’s hounds need anything he is right there for them including a very expensive eye surgery for Brutus. Brutus is especially hoping to send Grandpa fishin’!

P.S. take that tie and pitch it – you don’t want to scare the fish!

BEGGING! Dog transport help needed 6-20/21-09 AL/TN/VA/MD/PA includes senior coming 2 HOP.

A few moments ago I was checking Twitter and saw that Marilyn at HOP needs help with a transport that is going on this weekend. There is a Sr. on the transport named Patty. OMG, I love that name. I would call her little Patty Cake. Anyway, I clicked on the transport link to take a look just as clap of thunder hit.

img_1892

Chaps had been laying under my desk when he heard the rain start. You can see the transport link up on my monitor.

The Mayor says, “Look at me instead”!

img_1889

You know I had to kiss that cheek a few times. He was right in the kissing position!

Here is the transport link, please take a look and see if you can help!

Susan’s hounds, Toby and Daisy submit ear lengths for “posterity”!

June 18th, 2009 - 11:11 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and measuring ears lovers!

Residents Susan, Susan’s Mom, Toby and Daisy are howling in with their ear measurements. Well, not Susan and her Mom, just the kids Toby and Daisy.

Daisy and Toby

Along with the pictures Susan states,

“Both are happy to be officially “on the record for posterity!”

Toby measures the same as the Mayor – 10”. As you can see, Susan and her Mom follow the measuring instructions to a TEE!

Daisy came up just shy of 9.5 inches.

That information is very detailed and appreciated.

I just love the looks on hounds faces when they get their ears measured. They probably think they are going to get their ears cleaned! YIKES!

Thank you Susan and Grandma for submitting your archival photographic evidence that will be protected in the Mayor’s office forever!

More keeper of the measurements later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

The proofs for some of my car magnets arrived!

June 17th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Car Magnet Lovers! I was definitely one of those until mine got ripped off of my car! I think I spent about 100 dollars for them back in 2006.

I did a blog posting about it back on May the 6th, 2009

So, I wanted to replace them and add to them. I just love car magnets and the looks you get are totally pawsome…..especially from kids! You see laughing and smiling. What vehicle does not need that as they roll down the road?

I wanted proofs for these photo magnets. It was a great idea. It turns out, my graphic designer and I made a fair amount of changes to the photo. We also caught some printer errors as well! Thanks Lisa!

Always, always get a proof! Then make your demands before they go to print.

The photos basset hound town decided on are going to be as big as a Honda Element’s door! 23”x 23”!

Now the kids are ready for their close ups!

img_1849

As you can tell, I am up on a step ladder so you can see the entire proof. It is not a magnet, just a poster that rolls up. That is why I have the Lily books holding it down. Then I looked over and saw this……..

img_1852

“Mommy, I am scared…what are you doing up there?”

I had to LOL!

Here is Emma’s proof! I am going to have one kid on the driver’s side door and the other kid on the passenger’s side door! Halla!

img_1862

Again, these are just proofs. I am going to take them to Staples and have them mounted on cork board and use them as poster art. These are not the perfect outcome for what I want on my car, but I can certainly live with the result on a poster. That is why we do proofs.

Now I have 2 posters and I will have the finished outcome I want on my car! Sweet!

More loving these photos later……Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. Grandma calls them the glamour shots and we wanted to have Emma with her puppy gaze! She is a natural for keeping an eye on the road! YES!

P.P.S. I have ordered the original ones again plus a few smaller ones. I did not order proofs on them because they had done those before……

Emma submits her entry for the official archive, for basset hound ear length!

June 17th, 2009 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Official Archive Lovers: Chaps has taken it upon himself to establish the OFFICIAL ARCHIVE FOR BASSET HOUND EAR LENGTH. This archival vault will be housed in Bassethoundtown for all of his residents to view, admire and aspire to!

Today, the first lady of basset hound town, Emma, submitted her archival record.

emmaearmeasure1

Here is another shot so you can see how I hold the tape measure up to the head.

emmaearmeasure2

Our very own Emma measured in at 9.5”! Pretty impressive indeed. Make sure when you measure, you do not tug or pull on the ear to make it longer. Just make sure there is no slack. This way we can keep the records accurate and people thousands of years in the future will enjoy our attention to detail!

All of this archival material will be listed in a sub-blog categorgy called:

OFFICIAL ARCHIVE FOR BASSET HOUND EAR LENGTH.

It is not up and running yet. My website guy has to install it, but here is what the header will look like!

730x297-ear-measurement-header

Those of you who have sent in photographic evidence will be listed in this sub-blog shortly.

Some of you have sent in ear lengths but I cannot post them without the photographic evidence. It is a 2 person job at minimum. If you are single, have someone take a picture of you and your hound while you are on a walk or, better yet do it at the vet! The techs will be happy to help you.

Come on – you want people thousands of years from now to see your hound’s ear measurements in the official archives! hehehehehe

More long ears later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Today is the day to make it over that hurdle!

June 17th, 2009 - 8:08 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset and and making it over hurdle lovers. Hurdles can be small or large and we all have them. Well, this girl named Cherry has inspired me to check a few hurdles off my list today.

If she can do it so can I.

White Deer of WI

June 16th, 2009 - 9:09 am KY Time

Hello Fellow Basset Hound and White Deer of WI Lovers: Yesterday, I received many birthday wishes and this was one of them. Dan, a resident of BHT sent this to me and I really enjoyed it. It is about 6 minute long, so maybe you can save it for lunch or on a break. It is just breath taking and very calming.

I wonder if there are any albino Basset Hounds? Has anyone ever heard of that?

More wondering later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. Just out of curiosity, I googled albino basset hound and this picture came up. I have no idea who it is or if it is real, but here goes!

Words I am sure I will never hear again in my life, but it was good while it lasted…..

June 15th, 2009 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and words I will never hear again in my life lovers:

“I need to see your ID.”

I had just ordered a glass of wine at lunch as these words left the waiter’s mouth. My sister and I had to show our IDs, (she is 2 years younger than me and I turned 52 today). My jaw hit the table as I glanced up at him like he hung the moon!

“We have to ask everyone for their ID. PF Changs is under investigation for serving alcohol to minors. Not at this resturant but in some other state.”

OK – Shut up and let me have my moment!

We all had a good laugh and I told him it was my birthday and I was 52. OK – this is the good part. He said,

“I would have never guessed you were 52, you look younger”.

OK – You don’t have to shut up now! LOL

Then, when I started to think about it, I realized this was a great way to get tips as well. Too bad I was not paying for the meal or the tip!

Like I said, I will never here those words uttered again unless I go back to PF Changs or find a time machine.

More ROFLMBO later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

P.S. these are my dining partners, Sis and nephew

The very rare and elusive flip the ear into the mouth maneuver, still not captured….

June 15th, 2009 - 5:05 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and very rare and elusive flip the ear into the mouth maneuver lovers:

OK – Let’s get deep here. How many of you have ever seen this highly skilled and methodical approach to getting every last drop of goodness?

I have only seen Chaps do this on maybe 5 occasions since he has come to be the best boy in the world, according to his Mom. Here is what he does. He has a really good treat, like a piece of birthday cake. Just a tiny taste. Emma had a tiny taste as well.

After Chaps ate his tid bit, he stood like an elephant swinging it’s trunk, instead he was swinging his ears. After about the 5th swing, he flipped the ear that had a bit of icing on it into his mouth and slowly, ever so slowly moved into the kitchen. He was holding his ear in his mouth, carrying it like it was a price possession. He was in a trance like state.
Of course I missed the money shot. This was all I got.

img_1839

See how wet his ears are? Then he tried to go for it again, and it just was not the same for him. He was over it.

img_1842

Dang it! I wonder if I will ever capture the elusive, flip the ear into the mouth maneuver?

Maybe more cake is in order later? Love, Cat, Chaps (the magnificent) and Emma
