We say God Speed to one of the Greats…Scully Monster:(
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Scully Monster Lovers: It is with great sadness that I announce that our Scully has passed away. Scully is survived by her parents, Mary and Martin.
Scully was such a brave girl. She succumbed to the dreaded cancer late last night. Scully fought a hard fight and held on for many, many months after her initial diagnosis.
The Monster, as she was affectionately called, lived life to it’s fullest and brought us all such joy and laughter with her many stories.
Her life was full of love and she never had to question that.
Scully lived for food and her Mommy and Daddy always had plenty of treats for her. She was, for the most part, always hungry. LOL!
As the years passed her face grew white with wisdom.
The same wisdom her Mommy and Daddy had when they helped her to the bridge.
She had a way of teaching us all what it was like to live like a basset hound. Her sweet soul will be missed by many but none so much as her Mommy and Daddy. We know she was your world.
Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma along with the residents of Basset Hound Town…..
Now for a short bio about our girl…….
SHORT BIO:
I graced this world with my presence on April 11, 1998, so that makes me 11 years old. My momslave had wanted a basset hound since she was a little wee one, and that is why my humans came looking for me–it was finally time to make that childhood dream come true. I’ve been loved by my family since they brought me home on July 19, 1998, at the age of 14 weeks old.
Currently, the foodslaves and I live on the west coast of Canada. I lived with them in Toronto for 7 years though, and also in New Zealand for a year.
If you think I’m a little full of myself, you’re absolutely right. It’s not my fault though…my humans have spent my entire life treating me like a Queen and telling me how I’m the best basset on earth!! I choose to believe them.
On October 28, 2008, I was diagnosed with lymphoma. My family and I are really sad that I got cancer, however, I am going to be a strong girl and fight that evil lymphoma with everything in me. I went through chemotherapy, and am happy to report that it was successful in putting me into remission! Sadly though, after 8 and a half months of being in remission, the cancer has now come back. My people are going to see if a rescue protocol will work to put me back in remission. We are enjoying every day we share together, no matter how many more that may be.
In case you are wondering, yes, I am indeed named after Agent Scully from the X-Files. However, I couldn’t care less about the truth or extraterrestrial life forms; what I’m in search of is TREATS! Yup, the treats are out there, and it is my mission in life to snatch them up whenever the opportunity arises.
In an attempt to reach my ultimate goal in life — to eat as much as possible — I have mastered the crafts of counter-cruising and table-surfing. This is why I chose to call my website CounterCruiser.com. Food thievery is what I specialize in, and I take pride in my work!
NICKNAMES:
I am often referred to as “Scully-Monster”. This is a nickname that I earned because, apparently, when I was a youngster, I was a bundle of crazy energy with an affinity for nibbling on human appendages, and peeing everywhere. I admit to nothing of the sort.
I am also commonly referred to by my humans as “Foodwhore”. That’s pretty self-explanatory, huh.
Some other things I get called: Scullinator, Wiggle-Bum, Schmoopinator, Beautiful, Lady Poops-a-Lot, and the list goes on and on. Geez, it’s a wonder I ever learned my real name.
PET PEEVES:
Being immersed in water, sprayed with water, taken outside when water is falling from the sky, or being made to walk on wet ground. The only water I want contact with is the kind that magically appears in my water dish.
Pedicures. These are a form of basset torture just a step below tub torture, and must not be performed without giving some hardcore suck-up treats afterward.
Ear cleaning sessions. Clean ears at your own risk….I will run away from you, and make you feel really really guilty for performing this atrocity on me. Be prepared to get slimed by flying drool afterwards.
Being left alone. It is not advised that I be left under any circumstances without providing ear plugs to anyone within a 10 mile radius. I protest loudly!
We will miss you dear girl and we have our bridge candle lit so you can find your way.
((((((((((((((Mary and Martin))))))))))))
Oh, how upsetting! I was just getting to know Miss Scully. She was a very lucky girl that she was the queen all her life and had such fantastic slaves. It’s never easy loosing a hound (or any animal for that matter) but just remember the good times and know that she had the greatest life that any hound could ask for. Godspeed Scully and eat some treats from the buffet for us!
I shall miss Scully deeply. I always enjoyed watching her videos on YouTube.
Fly with the angels, Scully–you have your angel wings now…I will light my candle this evening in her memory…
Mary, Harley, Biggs and Leo
She was one of the best. We will miss her greatly. She left her imprint on us as well.

you will be sorely missed…but never forgotten.
Melba Toast repaws that the buffet is filled with the best foods ever she heard woof Scully was on her way. Tonight the sky will be a little brighter with the LOVE Scully has for her family shining in the heavens. Camp Toast will be burning candles in memory of this special girl.

Oh, Cat, thank you from the bottom of my broken heart for posting this blog in honor of my sweet girl.
And thanks to everyone for your kind words about my Scully-girl. She was one in a million. I feel so lucky to have been owned by her, and to have shared 11 and a half years of my life with her. They were the best years, full of so many wonderful memories. Having to say goodbye has been really devastating, and I am finding myself speechless. I just want everyone to know how much I appreciate your love, drool, thoughts, prayers while my houndette was sick, as well as now that she has made her journey to the bridge.
Love and hugs to all,
Mary
