It was just too much for Stanley to overcome:( He will make his trip to the bridge today.
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and following Stanley lovers: This just in from Susan via Marilyn at HOP.
Dog Speed sweet Stanley. Dog Speed…….
“Stanley took a very bad turn overnight. The bacteria is in his stomach, causing necrosis of the stomach and probably his bowels, too. Surgery would just be too much to put him through as they’d have to remove parts of his stomach and bowels. He’s in a lot of pain but they are giving him pain meds until she can get there to be with him. She’s leaving work right now to be there when he makes his journey to the Bridge. Please light a candle and keep them in your thoughts today.”
Our candle will be lit all day in honor of Stanley. He sure was lucky to meet the Hoppers and Susan during the final weeks of his life.
More remembering Stanley later…Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Awwwww…I have a tear in my eye. I was so sure that he’d be ok. What a sad, sad ending. But at least Stanley was able to enjoy the last part of his life with someone he really truely loved and he was treated like the king he was. Susan is such a wonderful person to be there with Stanley as he makes his way to the bridge. The Doyle hounds will be lighting a candle tonite too.
A candle in upper michigan to light Stanley’s way. I am so sorry Susan. Thank you for loving Stanley and helping him on his journey.
This is so sad, I was sure he was on the mend. Thank you Susan for giving Stanley love and comfort.
I am so very sad about poor Stanley, and can only imagine the pain Susan is in–how wonderful, though, that he had such a loving home for a time:( I will light my candle tonight for her sweet boy. And tons of drool is on its way to VA to Susan from my boys,

Susan, you are a very special person to do all you have done for your beautiful boy Stanley. I don’t even know him, but I love him. Thank you so very much for making him feel so special, and for loving him the way you did. We all love you and are keeping you in our prayers. I only wish there were more people like you in this world. Again, thank you for loving Stanley. GOD BLESS YOU.
My heart goes out to you and your family as you grieve for Stanley. It is wonderful that he had his loving family with him as he crossed the bridge. Stanley will forever leave a pawprint in your heart. Bumper and Abby send lots of drool to help you through this incredibly hard time.
Stanley made an impact on people without even meeting them in some cases. That says a lot about his temperament and personality. He will be sorely missed by all of us. Thanks for taking such good care of him Susan.
Susan….YOU were a blessing for Stanley. He fell in love with you and you made these last weeks of his life the best. Thank you for taking him and staying with him to the end! We know this is hard on you….we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
