Did I ever show you these pictures of Chaps while he still lived in TX?

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Chaps about 6 years ago lovers. I thought that I would share these pictures of the Mayor back when he was not the Mayor! He had no idea of the power that his title would provide him. He was just a wee boy of only 3 years old!

Just look at the hope in his face!

I remember when I received these pictures I printed them out and took them out to lunch with me that day. I was dining with my BFF Janie and I had the 2 shots displayed on our table. I would show everyone that walked by.

The pictures I had of Emma were not as clear so I had to wait for a new set.

Can you imagine howl proud I was? I was also very anxious and wanted to fly out that day to get him. Howl ever, Emma was too young to leave her Mommy…..

Oh the memories…..

I remember when we got to BoBac to pick himz up, I was sitting on a couch at the end of the kennel building and he came charging around the corner and down the pathway and took a flying leap right into my lap. That was one of the best moments of my life.

I am so glad I have that memory.

This was taken about 5 minutes later.

More memories later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

I haven’t seen these pics. What a great welcome our Mayor gave you! That’s just too cool. I can see that happening. He KNEW he was going to heaven. Look at him, he’s looking back like “I hope they don’t take me back! I’m going with this lady.” I didn’t realize that you got Chaps and Emma at the same time. Don’t know why I never snapped to that. No wonder they’re so close.

I can see how much the job of being Mayor can stress one out. He’s got a few gray hairs now! Hahahahahaha…

Oh Cat, This brought back memories of several gotcha days for me. I will never forget little Zeke, he followed me out of the little barn the litter was in and was right on my heels whining as if to say “Hey wait up don’t leave me here!!” That is how I knew I picked the right one! I’ll never forget how the bassets had their own little duck pond and they were watching little hatchlings swimming around with their mother! Great photos of the Mayor!

More evidence of the intelligence and wisdom the Mayor is graced with. Had not seen these photos before – thanks for sharing.

to me it is evidence that we do not chose our dogs but that our dogs chose us.

the one and only kiss i have ever gotten from mr cooper was the day i met him…at his foster mom’s house. i went to pet him & he kissed me.

when i first moved to jersey i was determined to get a dog..i went to the shelter about 10 times finally i saw miss casey..only she wasn’t up for adoption..they were holding her because she had been so badly abused..they didn’t know whether she would ever be able to go up or not. i fought to get her..and toghter we healed..

with buster..well i failed parking lot transfer from suzanne fitch i was only supposed to foster him but his eyes..well…he was the one…(that and i forgot his name 1/2 way home) he was the most beautiful basset i had ever seen..

i have the first toy i ever brought miss casey and i used to take it out and tell her the story of how i came to know her..the same with coop & buster…is it crazy..yeah..but hey..so am i (seriously..i am)..do they understand the words..nah..but the tone and the love…yeah, that they do…

i think they know and you know when its just right. no temperment test, no fancy papers, nothing…its a kiss, tug on a shoelace, a look…something…but you just know…it was meant to be. you may have gone looking for a male, black & white but come home with a female tri-color. and it is perfect.

with chaps…that would done it…big time. it doesn’t get any better than that.

and you know me & miss emma…the bond is there…i could have picked her out with my eyes closed, in the dark.

    truly a kodak moment.

Bassets know a good thing when they see and they stake their claim. I am surprised that he didn’t stamp you “Property of Chaps”. I also think he knew his calling to public service.

Lois is so right, the hounds pick us. When Brent and I went to see a 6 mth basset who would have been put down, for not house breaking, it was love at “first piddle”. Her name was Vanna White a tri-color, she ran up and…. at my feet and I feel in love. She was a Mommas girl from then on, and she had a forever puppy face up to age 12. They wrap you around the paw and your hooked. Emma and Chaps are blessed to have you for their Mom 🙂
