Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Summer Sleep Away Camp Lovers! Ohhhhhhh, I had so much fun! The Camp is called Camp Ernst and it is still as cool as it was when I went! That’s me on the right. Getting ready for the time of my life!

You may wonder howl I know that Camp Ernst is still as cool? Well, Grandma, the kids and I went on a picnic today and wound up on Camp Ernst Road. I was so excited! First we had our picnic by Camp Ernst Lake.

Turns out, being Sunday, all the campers were switching over and we were able to take a look around. I was about to start running and screaming with all the little girls that were pulling up!

Here is one of the cabins that I stayed in!

Oh, I wanted to stay all night for the PJ themed party around the campfire and sing Kumbaya with all the other campers and eat s’mores.

But, I did that and thank goodness I did. We all went to get a dairy dip on the way home for ole time sake.

The kids loved it! Chaps was all delicate and licking the cone like a good boy!

But then Emma came in and took it down! One bite and half the cone gone!

Oh, so that is howl you want to play? Chaps is no fool!

Now those are some happy campers!

More loving happy campers later….Cat, Chaps and Emma

Love the photos and the memories! The camp looks like the one I worked at as a counselor while in college. That was the best summer ever … I made a whopping 10 cents an hour! Going into town on Saturdays to do laundry and eat ice cream was the absolute best.

I like the way Emma goes after an ice cream cone! No delicate wall-flower there!

    Many hugs.

My best memories are of summer camp too. I went every year from about the age of 9 until I was 12 or so. We did crafts, swam in the lake, sang songs to acoustic guitars, played games, took turns cooking meals for everyone and had to clean up the mess from cooking (YUK). I learned independence, survival and how to manage money. What a good story to bring back a lot of good memories.

I’m so glad Emma taught Chaps how to eat an ice cream cone! Too cute!

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could rent the camp for a basset hound get together? I wonder if they do stuff like that? I went to school for 12 years with the guy who runs the place. It would be so much fun to sleep in bunk beds and laugh all night long. We could eat junk food and tell ghost stories.

    YES!
