Hey Cat
do you have any advice for someone looking to adopt a senior basset here in Gresham Oregon? We had our Short-T for 12 years and he passed in his sleep 5 years ago. Now that my kids are all grown up except my last one whose 12 we have decided it is time to love another. I just don’t wanna buy from a puppy mill or some crazy you know! We search the shelters weekly but nothing so far.
thankful for any advice you can help with.

Wow, looks like a few to pick from and they are a basset hound rescue which are very good. You are also close to CA that has a few rescues but probably pretty far away. WA state has 2 I think. Let me give you my rescue link so you can see it state by state.

I am hear to ask any questions!

Thank you so much Cat, I felt like I was on this mad woman search for days. We have been to the shelter every week for like 2 months. Then today my friend sent me a link that was 2 months old and they were all gone. Now I feel like I have some hope! JB was only 7 when Short-T passed but my other 4 were just as devistated because they had raised him. I feel like its time now, especially with my son being the last in the home he gets so lonely and a new baby would just tie us all back up again!! I sure miss my Short-T though he was my world!! That dog had his own chair at the dinner table, dog food of course, but still had a place!
Talk to you soon be blessed!
Ps I’ll send pics as soon as I have some!!!

Honey, I am hear for you every step of the way. Those who want to rescue Seniors have a special place in my heart. Have you ever heard of House of Puddles? Marilyn does not adopt out but she cares for the elder bassets that wind up in shelters.
