Coffee Table Book Review…..DOGS
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Coffee Table Book Review Lovers….
OK, I went out in the drizzling ice rain today to take a look at this book. I was thinking seriously about buying it as a gift.
After I took a look, I passed. I found it overpriced at 4o.00 dollars and just a bit to clunky. I was not thrilled with the photography either. Last but not least I am 94.7% sure there is not a picture of a basset hound. This thing is HUGE so I might have missed it, but I am pretty sure I did not. Not that it was deal breaker. It would have been a gift for a non basset owning friend.
Anyway, It’s just my humble review and if you bought it, I am sure you love it.
My favorite dog photographer is Erin Vey.
One could spend a lot of time on her site. If you go to her barkive you can click on Basset Hound and enjoy an entire coffee break smiling!
I just love her work.
More book reviews later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
You are right about Erin, and she really nailed the Basset with her photos in the barkives! I haven’t seen the book you mentioned. One year for Christmas I recieved a wonderful coffee table book called “For the Love of Dogs” and they gave the Bassets a centerfold ! I loved it!
Ever seen the books Maggie’s Way or the Tao of Maggie by Bill Stanton? Great picture books featuring Maggie the Basset. I have both of them!
Debra – I have both of them and I love them. Thanks for reminding us…..
Cat
I have this dog book called Dog Days by Gandee Vasan. There is two I believe great pictures of dogs and a Basset in it! I bought it because of the two Basset pictures so I could frame it! =)
there will be a new book coming out by ron schmidt (he does prints under the loose leashes name..you see his stuff in lots of shops & catalogs like plow & hearth) that will feature 2 basset buppies from mid atlantic! sara & gracie
we took them last week for their big photo shoot at ron’s house…& they did just fine..these girls & their mom came up from MO a few weeks ago… & are under mid atlantic’s wings.
i know ron from the dog park i go to & his big dog ‘sammy” has stayed overnight at my house. i yelled at him because his work didn’t have any bassets in it & he said…”get me bassets!” so i did!
it’s a kids book about school..& the preview shots look awesome.
I love all of these book suggestions. What a great way to share!
Thanks residents!
I prefer to give calendars as gifts, some I get from rescues but others I get from the store. My conditions are price, and the calendar MUST absolutely MUST contain at least one Basset Hound photo.
These are my standards.
