Meet the newest HoPper! MAX

September 19th, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and new HoPper lovers! YES!

This just in from our Marilyn, Mommy to all of the HopPers!

“This is Max. He’s 12 1/2 years old. His owner died so the wife dumped him off at a shelter in WV. He came with a copy of the notes in his vet file since 1998, so they’d had him since he was a puppy. Seems to have had regular vet care and dentals every year. Hasn’t had any shots or tests since 4/2009, though. He’s a very sweet boy but seems pretty anxious and confused. He cries when he can’t be right with me. I let him sleep in bed with me last night and he peed in bed, even though he’d been out to pee right before. Oh well, it was time to change the sheets, anyway. He’s got some lumps and a history of bad arthritis. He’s very sweet and gives gentle kisses.”

What a special and lucky boy. I just don’t get it and I don’t want to.

More knowing that Max is now in the best place ever to grieve the lost of his loved one. Thank you Marilyn…

Ouch! I twisted my ankle!

September 19th, 2010 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and not loving twisting your ankle lovers…..

Wow, I had to actually get out Grandpa’s cane due to a sidewalk cliff I went off of. It was right up from where this picture was taken years ago of Grandpa walking the kids. There is nothing cuter than hounds in coats!

IMG_0058

Of course Chaps is scared of the cane and a bit confused because it probably smells like Grandpa.

IMG_9340

It hurt really bad.

Here is Emma wondering what the heck is going on.

IMG_9338

Then this morning I got an e-mail from OneMom, that said to remember the RICE principle. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

OK, I have not heard of the Rice Principle and I work for an orthopaedic surgeon! hehehe

I think today will be a day of rest. I might add heat to that RICE principle. Chaps is laying next top my ankle. Gosh, that feels good!

Now, for your viewing pleasure, a walk we took in bassethoundtown back in 2006.

More RICE and heat later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Wanna hear one of my favorite songs?

September 17th, 2010 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Favorite Song Lovers. OneMom is a basset hound town resident and blogger and asked some questions on her recent blog! One of them was, “What is your favorite song?”

Without hesitation I said!

More loving low riders later! Cat, Chaps and Emma

Dog friendly road trips with bassethoundtown.com

September 17th, 2010 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and dog friendly road trips with bassethoundtown.com lovers!

As many of my readers know I have different headers for different subblogs on my website. I am working on this new header. I think it will be cool to have since Grandma and I take so many trips with the kids. The big one is coming up to the Blue Ridge Parkway! We are so excited! Guess What? The Blue Ridge Parkway just followed me on Twitter! I think that is really cool!

OK, so here is the first pass at the new header! What do you think?

IMG_9333

All of our posts when we travel with the kids will be categorized into this header, like when I do other categories like movies, house of puddles, my radio show and so forth.

I am kind of hoping that this category will help a lot of folks traveling with hounds! I know there are many sites out there that do this but mine will be fun for our residents!

Let’s go!

What are we waiting for?

IMG_2225

So……. we are off like a herd of turtles! Hehehehe

Ahhhh…..Look at our Emmers in her comfort corner!

September 17th, 2010 - 6:06 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and real time pictures lovers. I just took this picture of our Emmers, feeling much better tonight. She absolutely loves her comfort corner. Right after she went blind she made this her safe place.

For example, if I want her to go potty and the ground is damp she will plant herself right here. If she ever goes to her comfort corner she is safe! That includes ear cleaning or anything else she does not want to do!

She knows she is safe in her corner and I would never defy the corner!

IMG_9326

Everyone needs a comfort corner!

More respecting Emma later….Love, Cat, Chaps and our little comfort corner lover later!

Have you ever heard of this word?

September 17th, 2010 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and new word lovers. This morning Grandma called to check on her Grandhounds. I reported that Emma was about 87.5%,

IMG_7515

and Chaps was about 63.2. It seemed to me that his apple cart was still sighwonkertea. We got to talking about the word sighwonkertea and we laughed and laughed. I googled it and nothing would come up. Then we could not remember if it was a Kentucky slang or something our family made up. I am spelling it as it sounds.

Sigh – Wonker – tea

It means, at least to us, off kilter. So to say that the Mayor’s apple cart is sighwonkertea means that his darling system is still off balance.

IMG_7721

Oh Mayor, let’s get that apple cart back in order!

Here is a picture of the Mayor with some of his apples from a few years back. He took them to the teachers at a school he visited. Himz always the teacher’s pet!

More keeping you posted later on the sighwonkertea apple cart……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Lazy Hal for Basset Lovers….

September 17th, 2010 - 10:10 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Hal Lovers. I have been one of those for years. Hal is a show basset that lives in Japan with his dear family. I always thought that Hal looked like the bigger boy version of our Emma. I bet Emma’s brothers look like Hal! Hal also has a really cool blog called Lazy Hal for Basset Lovers.

It is all in Japanese (go figure)! But if you want Google will translate for you. Google, Lazy Hal and click on translate this page. It is not exact but it is pretty good!

I think this might be the actual translated page.

Lazy Hal for Basset Lovers

Oh dear me! Here is Hal’s new Tube!

Is that a drool bib? hehehe

Someone get the phone! “I think it’s your people calling my people!” YES!

More loving Hal later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

I have my kids home! YES!

September 16th, 2010 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and having the kids home lovers!!!!! YES! I was so excited to go collect them and they were excited/mad to see me! hehehe

IMG_9308

This is the cat room/recovery area! It is right across from the front desk and everyone kept a close eye on them. Dr. Doan said that when Emma came into her kennel from the procedure they started howling to each other. Kind of choked me up. I know they were howling for Mommy.

Here is Chaps with his condo neighbor, June Bug!

IMG_9311

Emma’s condo neighbor is the vet cat. He has to hang in a kennel while the patients are in. Plus he is kind of mean!

IMG_9312

Lets get the heck out of here!

IMG_9317

I was so happy to get this behind us!

IMG_9320

I hope our next stop might make a few things better….

IMG_9324

Each kid took only one fry so I bet they are still a bit nauseous. Kind of like me after the 600 bills I dropped. Cough.

I have them tucked in for the night and I have a feeling we will all sleep well.

More loving clean teeth later, Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Chaps and Emma are both waking up and doing fine:)

September 16th, 2010 - 1:01 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and update lovers! Talk about your helicopter Mom. I called to check on them already 4 times. Well, now they are both waking up and doing fine. I am just thrilled to have this teeth cleaning and other maintenance behind us. It was so weird to come home and not have the kids here. Very strange. This place is like a shell without them.

Here is an old picture I found that is cute. Oh Chappers! Oh Shimlette!

More exhaling later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

I couldn’t sleep:(

September 16th, 2010 - 7:07 am KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and not loving teeth cleaning day lovers…..

What a drag. There is not much worse than denying food for a basset hound. My plan was to sleep until I basically had to leave. I already have the BHV set up outside with the ramp. I have all of my clothes laid out so I can change quickly. I have everything by the door. I have been up for hours now. Both kids are following me around crying for their breakfast. So much for my plans.

As you can see it is still dark out…

IMG_9304

More feeling sorry for ourselves later……Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma (who is laying in the kitchen)
